- Suh dudes! Six Flags Great America has been a park I've wanted to visit for ages! I've managed to visit most of the other major amusement parks in the United States and I consider this to be one of the last major parks I needed to visit! It was so awesome to finally attend and spend a day and a half here.

they gotta RMC the queue for American Eagle.
LMAO
yeah but not the actual ride. leave american eagle alone
It was built with a long queue because they didn’t have many good rides beside it, so it had to accommodate long lines.
@@billmulvihill8452 the line was also changed after they made the old entrance area a kiddie rides area.
@@billmulvihill8452 it's the same reason the queue for SteVe is so long.
The American Eagle queue is what you make when you finish a whole coaster in RollerCoaster Tycoon 2 but forgot to add the entrance and exit beforehand.
When we went it was the only coaster we didn't ride because we couldn't find it lol
I remember when that damn queue used to be PACKED
Longest roller coaster queue line without preshow confirmed
Its still a bucket list coaster for me. Just looks awesome
YES
20 cycles in an hour, with one op and one train, and it's a kiddie coaster? Give that woman a Nobel Peace Prize.
What a day that was!!! I’m the ride operator/lead at camp. And thankfully all the kids and everyone else where flowing on and off the ride
@@gretajensen657 HAHA that’s awesome!!
@@gretajensen657 Do you remember when it was Camp Cartoon Network?
Whoever was designing Raging Bull was just like: "Nah.. it aint done yet. Imma add a helix here and another airtime hill here aaaaand eff it, lets put some more track here, here, and here!!!"
its great except for the lower pph
It needs an inversion made a zero g roll
i wanna thoosie shuffle into uncle nates heart
😂😂😂this is awesomeness 😂great comment
I love that people use Thoosie!!! Fun fact, I made up the word in 2013. :)
@@OneWheelProductionsInc what does it mean? Lol
@@moniquechavez150 Thoosie: Derogatory slang for Enthusiasts. Like Trekkie for a Star Trek fan.
I grew up right near kiddieland, and I was absolutely devastated when it closed. It was very family and local friendly, with all sorts of fundraisers and events with local schools. The Little Dipper was (probably) the first coaster I ever rode, and seeing it preserved and taken care of, with info about its history displayed, it makes me very happy 😌
14:52 I've heard the reason they don't use the wheel covers is because Great America's maintenance is too "lazy" to take them off every morning and strap them all back on when they do their routine checks, so they just decide to leave them off. Not 100 percent is sure if it's true or not but that's a rumor I heard from a former great America ride op.
This is 100% true and is the reason it doesn’t have them on.
Personally that might be a benefit as it means the morning checks take slightly less time and thus means the ride can be up and running sooner. Maybe only by a few minutes but it does improve ride uptime.
they were on when I went to the park
They are lazy as hell. I hope Cedar Fair helps
This was most waited coaster idiots video ever, fr 🚫🧢💯
Home park here. Love it dearly. Fun fact about V2, in its early years it would stall for about three seconds during the second acceleration up the back tower.
Right! The only time I have ridden that one was back in the day when it did the stall at the top.
Home park! Employee from 90 - 99. You gotta give it up to Six Flags for talking it upon themselves to design such a great coaster as Viper in-house, and absolutely nailing it.
FINALLY! Somebody gave an apples to oranges take on Raging Bull! It's a classic B&M hyper because it's magic is unlike the others, Bull is unique in the forest! It's beautifully themed, well sited in the park and a nonstop funfest (esp in the back row). Reading comments, thanks for giving our home park all the love! 🎢
YESS THIS VIDEO IS FINALLY HERE!! Hope you enjoyed my home park! By the way, a Maxx Force problematic video would be amazing, I've seen it do so many weird things over the few months it's been open
So glad y'all liked my home park!! I was geeked when this popped up, not many vlogs come from here for some reason and I was stoked to see my favorite youtuber was here
Same! 🎈
I was thinking maybe because it’s further from the city center (Chicago) than most parks? So not as convenient if you’re traveling from out of town? I’m not really sure but I love it too!
@@matthenekk Actually is pretty close to the city center compared to most parks in the midwest besides maybe kings island though TBH chigago is on another lvl compared to every other Midwestern city.
Hmm… I don’t get it then! Clearly someone who’s done it all like Ryan still thinks it’s a great park so it’s definitely strange there’s a lack of vlogging there
same
Be glad you were able to get a ride on Demon. The lift motor (which used to be the lift motor on Shockwave) gave up the ghost. They're trying to get it fixed.
I’m not sure if they got it yet, but they ordered a new lift motor from S&S; the bigger concern right now is if it works with the computer
@@Galarticuno aw man so it’s still not operating? damn it’s been like a month. i mean not that i was gonna get on it bc my friend injured her ear on it and there was blood everywhere and it’s a very rough ride but i lowkey do wanna get on it LMFAO
Lol 😆 I despise Demon I hope fixes fail and we can get a new ride
They were running empties yesterday. Hope it's back up soon.
@@jaredbrown1128 it opened yesterday for about two hours before it had to be closed again due to problem previously stated
My Hometown park! So happy the guys dig it. Y’all made my day saying it slaps.
Im glad you liked my local Six Flags. Whenever I go to any other 6F park I'm always kinda like "Damn.. I have it pretty good in Illinois with Great America..". It never disappoints me.
It's the second or third best six flags park I've visited (in terms of coasters), but honestly the atmosphere of Great America is my favorite for six flags parks(haven't been to fiesta texas)
I feel lucky to have lived in Chicago my whole life & had such convenient proximity to Great America. I’ve traveled to a few other parks & I’m always so happy to return to it. The American Eagle is a true classic
That long queue line takes me back to my Roller Coaster Tycoon days; when you trap yourself and have to get creative with the footpath.
This is my home park and I love it. Pro-tip for anyone who wants to get a goofy ride photo: Raging Bull has a significant brake section right before the drop that leads into the camera. Works as a solid cue that it's time to pose, and you're slow and stable so you can get posed easily.
Honestly one of my favorite parts of this park is the fact that no matter where you are, it feels like you're surrounding by nothing but coaster track
Yeah surrounded by a bunch of mediocre coasters 🤣
Yeah, why is that important if the rides are mostly second level?
@@Joshwake I’ve been to about a dozen parks. No, Great America’s coasters are not mediocre. The only thing Great America is missing is an elite coaster. But most of the coasters are good to great, just no elite ones.
Goliath, Maxx Force, Raging Bull, X-flight(better than Gatekeeper), and Viper are definitely not mediocre.

Hey ryan, you gonna do a video about El Toro derail that occurred recently..? Like give us you're thoughts ect..?
When i saw this comment, i just stopped the vid and searched El Toro derailing
American Eagle is also Intamin’s first ever thrill coaster, and opened with three records: tallest, longest, and fastest racing coaster, All of which it still maintains. It is also not structurally sound to operate both sides of the ride at the same time. Due to blue being rougher & less popular it is the track which is often closed, and is usually only open for park events w/ staggered dispatches, or if Red goes down/needs maintenance. (Plus I suspect that Blue is used for parts) Because of all this, it has become a surprisingly rare credit to get.
Randomly saw this comment so update - In 2024 it appears that Great America is now preparing to open the blue side for the year.
I think it’s just being refurbished this season. In the past they seem to alternate pretty steadily whether they run red or blue. They rarely run both just because of how many staff it takes, especially with it being a less popular ride
The blue side was my first ride on American eagle. Then when they opened red side, I was like, ok I can see both sides now. And then a saw a line and there was never a line for the blue side.
Red side slaps tho
Wait, it's not stable enough to run racing? I mean, it sounds about right. Last time somebody in my orbit rode it (my parents), the review was "feels like they haven't refurbished it since before I had children". And I have my own children...
Wow, hearing this kinda makes me sad.. I remember when it would be rare to not see the ride race.
@@rpavlik1 The helix is too close to I-94 and new construction laws mean Six Flags can barley touch it. That's why the helix has that weird roughness but nowhere else.
Seriously shade needs to be mandated in these parks as a safety regulation Busch Gardens Williamsburg is the only one I can think of that has a decent amount
Me and my fiancé were saying this exact same thing when we were at Carowinds this past weekend lol
In the queue for goliath it had shade same thing for Maxx force idk why they removed it
@@angelguerrero7850 i went on july 3rd and they had shade in the maxx force queue. I didn’t go on goliath so i don’t know if there was shade in that line
@@angelguerrero7850 The Maxx Force shade structures were just installed. They hadn't gotten the tarp up when they filmed this, but it's up now!
@@greysoncox6050 I remember it being there on opening year might just be the pandemic kicking in
"40 years old and still runs like gold!" -some ride op on American Eagle when my brother went recently.
I like how you memed the American Eagle brakes and it was like… the same sound.
I love how Goliaths Dispatches are always awful but the ride is my no1 in the park
Lmao
They are just tired of people pushing the lapbars down. Literally every run.
@@Helltech do you happen to know why they do the lap bars for us each ride? I’ve been curious about it ever since I visited.
6:11 This is longer than the last episode of Problematic Roller Coasters - Ryan 2021
Still remember being here back in 1992 when Batman opened, the lines were INSANE.
So excited you went! X-Flight is my favorite coaster and I'm glad you enjoyed it. Length aside, it's a good balance of thrilling/fun without being too intense.
First of all, this is by FAR THE BEST Commentary of a amusement park that I’ve ever heard or seen in my life LOL!! You guys rock! Also even though I live in California this is my home park and I must say Six Flags great America Chicago is by far the best amusement Park out of my top five!!!
I'm so glad you got to visit my home park! it really is such a well rounded park top to bottom, and you truly never get bored. It's amazing.
American Eagle always has a 5-10 minute wait.
Because it takes 5-10 minutes to walk to the station
"bat man? bat man? nah. bat man? Block zoonneeee!" that was golden
I’ve talked to the maintenance guy at Batman. He doesn’t put them on because “they’re not necessary”
They’re lazy to do it
they did the same to nemesis inferno at Thorpe Park for years, which is also pretty lazy on maintenance
Uh why🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
SIX FLAGS WHAT DA DOG DOING
I'd also imagine they're a pain to deal with after hundreds of cycles, not only just how laborious it would be to remove them all from even just one train just to perform regular maintenance, but they likely collect grime and other nasty stuff thrown inside from the wheels and so are disgusting to clean out let alone handle.
American Eagle’s queue has shifted around throughout the years. For most of her life, the major of the queue was under the large tent structure, which was repurposed a number of years ago. So the walk out to the station wasn’t has convoluted.
In the beginning, the tent, which was a originally a circus, had a bandstand and concessions all in the queue. The early years the line was so long, there was live entertainment most of the day. Also you could snacks and drinks all while you waited. It was also the first ride where there were two, maybe three people sitting in lifeguard chairs. Their job was to look for people skipping ahead in the line. Marriott’s called them Line Savers. By 1982, the year after the Eagle opened, Marriott’s had these on most of the major rides.
"This stupid ride"
-is literally the ride the channel is named after
You guys make my day every time you upload, thank you 😂
I've been waiting for this vlog for SO LONG!!!! LETS GOO
Awesome vid!! This is definitely on my bucket list of Six Flags parks to visit, in addition to Magic Mountain and Fiesta Texas!
Yes, this was everything I was hoping for, been waiting forever for you guys to hit up my home park.
Also, Shockwave was awesome, I miss it.
Funny story about Shockwave. My sister almost flew out of it when we were very very young. I held her back into the seat. It was like my first trip to an amusement park in my life. I don't think we were over 11 years old. Thank god I got over that fear, but yeah that was a cool ride.
My old home park!!!!!! Been waiting for you guys to finally make it there. Glad ya loved it as much as I used to!!
ETA: Shockwave was great except for the headbanging!
My home park! X-Flight is seriously my favorite coaster. Like you said it's so underrated and the layout is FANTASTIC for its compactness.
My mom attended this park as a teenager before 6 flags bought it. Whizzer and Demon were original to the park, and my parents' neighbor said he was there the day the Demon infamously got stuck upside down in one of the loops. One of the wheels jammed and it screeched to a halt at the top; It took about 2 hours to get the passengers out. People were starting to soil themselves from being upside down for too long.
So glad you finally made it out here!! Sorry we missed you guys!
I'm glad you enjoyed Raging Bull and said that it has airtime. I feel a lot of airtime when I ride. I get a variety of types of airtime in each element. It has definitely gotten better over the years. The trims aren't as aggressive as they once were.
I still love all the roller coasters at six flags Great America
I'm so happy right now, mang. I'm glad you enjoyed your days there!
Another banger👍🔥wait where’s my popcorn🍿 when it comes to Ryan making vids it’s a movie🎥
4:41 love the way he says “yeah” just seems like an all around good dude lmao
This is my new favorite channel. Keep up the great work! 🤘🏻
Straight up, this park is killer. While I do have a small problem with its lack of lengthy rides outside of Raging Bull (Goliath & Maxx Force are both way too short), this park has an incredibly well-rounded lineup. All they need is a giga which Six Flags would never splurge for, but more realistically they could really use some flats.
Yes, I was so pissed when Maxx force was announced, there's so much room for more track but six flags is cheap
They need one coaster that is just a #1 coaster, ya know?
Wish we could get a giga, but RB's the de facto height limit because of O'Hare. A #1 would have to be a large scale RMC or maybe a blitz.
@@domenichughes7792 //Village Administrator Patrick Muetz said the coaster, described as 175 feet tall, would not need a height variance, noting that structures of up to 200 feet are allowed within the village’s C-5 zoning regulations for “amusement devices.”
The only restriction to the 200-foot height allowance is if the structure is within 500 feet of residential areas, and Muetz said the ride is not within that range, according to plans.//
@@domenichughes7792 Not O'Hare. Waukegan Airport.
Ayeee that's my home park. I'm so glad you finally were able to visit! And glad everything was open too lately Maxx Force and Demon have both been closed every time I go
So grateful to have this as my home park!
Myke wearing the famous block zone shirt! What a great group of friends and family!
man it makes me unreasonably happy to see you guys enjoying my home park
DUDE IVE BEEN SO HYPED FOR THIS, LESSS GOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!
It was so nice to finally meet you!! Y’all were so chill and it was a blast to ride Goliath with you and Nate. I hope one day we can hang at a park together!!
Ahh my home park. I love Raging Bull, Superman and all the classic rides there like Demon and Americans Eagle along with the Columbia Carousel and sky tower. Also love that they saved the Big Dipper from Kiddyland. So many good rides.
Just found this channel, love you guys!!!
I got excited to see you coming to this park but then hearing you guys are going to Bay Beach is awesome. I love Bay Beach so much. I spent a lot of my childhood there over many a summer.
I love you guys!! Keep doing amazing videos because its helping with my mental health!
That video of the person interspersed with the trim brakes was SOOOOO good... "I'm so sorry to the world this is not what we want"....
@eltororyan thankz for finally visiting my home park! And yes Raging Bull is one of best Hypers out there and the park also has some of the best selection of rides and coasters out there! Thanks for acknowledging that🙌
I could literally just watch b&m flyers go through the pretzel loop all day long🤤 definitely my favorite inversion!
My home park!! Havent been since 2015. I miss it :( Back in the day (when American Eagle actually NEEDED that long of a queue) the entrance was this HUGE tent with arcades and food spots with a mile long down and back. We could actually get out of line, play games and eat food then meet back up with out parents who were waiting in line. I miss it :(
My home park! Glad you guys enjoyed. Yes they are super understaffed this year. It's really sad. Lots of people upset - they just don't understand.
thank you for the Seinfeld theme interludes it was much appreciated
the staff here are awesome. This is my home park, and i feel one of the better six flags parks. i'll never forget the time we were in line for superman and each dispatch/time they made the coaster go from sitting to flying they, said a quip. Ours it was "we got rhythm, we got rhyme. now it's time for you to fly"
I love that you guys are enthusiasts but you're so positive about everything and enjoying it rather than using your knowledge to bash stuff and be pretentious that happens a lot these days.
American Eagle: somehow more out of the way than Judge Roy Scream.
Been waiting for this! Great video 🤙
Just went today! got my best ride i've ever gotten on american eagle. They left me with an 1 1/2" of room on the lap bar. Actually floated out of my seat. Best experience of the day.
I would love a problematic coaster video for Maxx Force! In 2019 it was perfectly fine, but this year it breaks down like 10 times a day. What happened? I heard something about the train not pulling out of the station the correct distance, but I could be wrong.
Also Goliath's dispatches take so long because they have to do some weird thing with the restraints where everyone has to leave their restraints up until the ops push them down. They have to start all over again if anyone pushes it down themselves.....
Also unfortunately I feel like Viper has gotten a lot rougher from 2019 to 2021. Still a fantastic ride though.
Thanks to your amazing video I just booked a trip on Oct 2nd 2021 to SF Great America all the way from Mexico City! awesome video man!!!
finally you guys visited my home park!! tbh y’all are the only coaster channel that will make me laugh
Loved the LoG playing during the demon lol.
As an IL native it's nice to see this park get its due. A shame you didn't get to experience Shockwave, Iron Wolf or even Rolling Thunder before they were removed. Demon was always my favorite as a kid, but the initial drop from the front row of Shockwave was pretty special. Still sad to this day that it's gone.
Now why can’t more Six Flags parks be of this quality? Not just in terms of rides, but overall care and atmosphere.
I laughed so hard throughout the entire video I spat water on the demon corkscrew montage
Thanks for the memories! Especially the line from hell to the Eagle!
17:49 that man in front row has some genuine terror in those screams LOL
Just took my first coaster trip last month, went to Six Flags Great America, Cedar Point, and Kings Island. loved every bit of all of them
actually got to ride Goliath 3 times in 1 day with almost no wait. got first ride of the day, then it broke down shortly after, and I happened to be right there when it opened back up in the afternoon to get first train again, then repeated right after. Whereas couldn't ride batman, dark knight, or maxx force for long lines or closed down
The internet will always remember what coaster was Myke’s 400th credit✔️It’s as if the S & S Gods 🔱🗿shined upon this day. Lol. The dread was real. 😂
Chicagoan here, so glad to see this video, haven’t been to great America since like 18, 19 had no idea max flight was there lol might go this summer now!
I have been following this channel for a few years now, and I gotta say: that breaking animation *never* gets old :-))
I'd never thought I'd see the day. Super glad you had an amazing experience at my home Six Flags.
Glad u guys enjoyed my home park. I’m surprised that no one talked about the most insane element in the park (next to the zero g stall of course) & it is the first half of the pretzel loop in the back row on superman.. if you like them vertical g forces. it’s almost a guaranteed grey out every time (the rest of the ride isn’t very spectacular, but I love it for that first element alone)
You finally went to my home park. I love the vids!
Damn.... just watched the POV for X-Flight and WOW.... that layout is so cool. I love a good layout with intention behind every turn and inversion. Sometimes I think rollercoaster designs are meant to "look" cool from an outside visual perspective but it doesn't always translate to how the ride actually "feels." That one looks amazing
DEF better than Gatekeeper imo…great ride!
The original entrance to American Eagle was repurposed for a food court/ wiggle world. The new line paths were placed within other already existing ride paths.
i'm not even 5 minutes in and this video is sending me lmao💀 i'm glad you guys had a good time!
My home park growing up!! So cool to finally see you visit. Hope you can come to ATL soon to see that 6 flags
Superman has that cool first loop but I would gladly trade it back for Shockwave. That coaster was all business with 7 inversions and was super tall. Iron Wolf was solid for a stand up coaster but Goliath is great in its place. Nice vid
Glad somebody showed how bad that trim on Raging Bull is. This ride would probably be a lot more intense without it. Those extra few miles per hour would make all those turns would whip you significantly.
Great America is my home but I rode diamondback for the second time a few days ago and not only is the first airtime not trimmed whatsoever but it’s directly after the even larger first drop. And then another untrimmed massive hill and then a way faster turn around and then ANOTHER massive barely trimmed hill that was always still consistent for me
And when I say second I mean I was at KI in 2016 and earlier this week was my second trip to the park, first day I rode Diamondback 18 times and second day I lost track but at least 8 🤣 I literally made the trip mostly for Orion and ended up falling deeply in love with Diamondback. Orion still slaps though airtime is just not what it’s there for
19:48 super agressive rock, the next frame, a peaceful ride gliding into the brakes
I'll never stop laughing at censoring the masks, kills me every time. Great vid!
lmao I've only watched a few of your videos and that block zone t-shirt is awesome!
Just went to this park for the first time today. It was such a fun time can’t wait to go back
I've been waiting for this day for a long time.
Yyyyeeesssss you finally visited my home park!!!!!!!!
Much love from Illinois!
I was getting worried there they weren't gonna go on Viper with the video time. Winding down. Lol... The man ain't lyin.. Most underrated wood coaster around. It's hard to describe exactly why... It's not the biggest or the best or the fastest but it always gives a solid ride, and you walk away from that thing with a smile on your face regardless of what type of coasters are your primary favorite.
