Capricorn Sun, Moon, Venus and Mercury (R) in the 9th house.
One of the best things about being a Cappy is aging...I just turned 52 a few days ago, but I feel BETTER than I did at 25...body, mind and SPIRIT.
My 50th birthday felt like a rebirth!!

My sweetie (Cap sun, moon, Mars) said he was deeply quiet as a kid-not because he didn’t have things to say but because he preferred to think, listen, deliberate. I’d also posit that the solidity of folks with prominent Cap placements IS romantic and powerful. His demonstrated reliability is more romantic to me than any big verbal overture, as is his cooking (Taurus rising like you!).

As a Cap Sun I really appreciate this respect for the melancholy. I get a bit embarrassed and neglectful about that part of myself. your insights gave me a new view and respect for my angst. This week so far has been incredibly angsty. Why is that?

I always very much appreciated how you talk about Capricorn.
I also think it‘s sad how we stopped reffering to Capricorn as the Seagoat, I think it takes away so much of the mythic and imagination side of the sign.
Currently Venus Retrograde is Retrograding through my natal venus, mars and neptune in my 3H,
this has definitely made me re-evaluate how I think about Capricorn, and also applying it to my own life experience.
I never heard someone talk about melancholy in such a way, in such a way that it feels okay to think or feel that way.
    Thank You

Ha! My husband is Capricorn sun and rising and is far from any of those first 3 stereotypes! He has emotional intelligence and is the first one to cry if someone or an animal dies, doesn't seem to have any goals past that day or 2 and is a liberal. His moon and seventh house is in Cancer however.

FINALLY - you have made some sense out of my Capricorn Moon / Cancer Sun in 12th combo, with Saturn in Pisces. I am deeply and profoundly grateful, I've been trying to understand it for years and now it all makes sense. Also love how you showcase the edgy brooding magnetism of Capricorn, and the depth of emotional creativity. I just love this, you cover so many angles, show how they link up and bring it all together. SUPER good.

THANK YOU- from the bottom of my cold as ice capricorn heart!
im a capricorn sun and also got venus in capricorn, gemini rising.
i first heard about my sign as a child. over the years i tried to find out more about it and it always felt like: there must be something wrong with me. i deeply felt my capricorn core and i loved it. but at the same time i was described as a perfect opposite of my self, and really bothered me. meanwhile gemini & mercury are filling this lac perfectly.
but until this day its almost impossible to find an astrologer with a deep and serious understanding of a capricorns core. 99% can do nothing but spitting stereotypical phrases, incapable to comprehend only a glimpse of what they are telling the world about capricorn and/or saturn.
some even make some very bad capricorn trait- jokes, which sometimes are actually desrespecting, if not to say insulting me 😔
to me it seems like astrologers has to have a strong capricorn influence at their own birth chart, otherwise this door will always beclosed for them, you know?
gosh, saturn is such a heavy burden! and at the same time saturn is the greatest gift, an unconditional loving father, my ruler & boss whos decisions i would never ask ♥he knows me better than i do and i know that he would never left me, or even take me down- no matter how hard i suffer on my way ♥
there is this gift of love, saturn gave to me... emotions so deep and intense that it hurts, or makes me cry, and get on my knees so i dont fall...
the downside is death itself. there was this moment of total clearness as i still was a lil child; a moment of shock, realising what death really means, that i am going to die one day and that no child- fantasy- imagination can change that or can do anything about it. with that moment all childhood innocence has been taking away from me and melancholy made its way into my heart. oh my...
i found a way to welcome phases of heavy melancholy, to dive right into it, to FEEL, to almost get lost in it, isolating me, avoiding my species, knowing that nobody can follow my path anyways. mostly winter time is inducing this and it sometimes feels like im leaving the planet and at the same time feeling myself being deeply grounded; as if i could only go both ways- up and down, or otherwise getting lost somehow at only one direction, if that makes sense...
yep: haaaard work! i love it! but goals? not really ^^ my goal is to to make ends meet, thats it!
me??? all about hierarchy/patriarchy? well thats probably the most ignorant way to describe me, of all! you couldnt show more stupidity, thinking about me that way. tztztz... -.-
but im ok with that: theres no need at all to prove myself to anybody else but me, myself & i 😉
much love and all the best for you and your beloved ones 😌

Thank you so much for this! I really hate when people push this one dimensional narrative of Saturn. I am a Capricorn rising with a 12th house stellium in Sagittarius, which includes Jupiter and Neptune. At the same time people spin Jupiter as exclusively benefic. My experience is not consistent with this. Sometimes there is too much of a good thing. Saturn has saved me from Jupiter and Neptune's pursuit of escapist oblivion. With Saturn as my chart ruler and Jupiter as my strongest planet, I feel they work together on my behalf. In true 12th house stellium fashion, I struggled with alcoholism for more than a decade. I got sober on the day my Jupiter return exacted. When I tell people that, they give Jupiter all the credit. But Saturn was in a separating conjunction to my AC and I believe that having Saturn in the first house was the thing that gave me the self discipline to stay sober. I also learned to set boundaries with other people and respect the boundaries of others, which is a vital part of the recovery process, as is personal accountability. I would personally love to throw out the benefic malefic narrative because I think it is misleading. I hear a lot of people say that all Jupiter transits are positive and that Jupiter returns bring amazing gifts. I agree that getting sober was an extremely healing gift. It was also an excruciating process. The growing pains of a Jupiter transit can be brutal. And paradoxically, for those of us with a history of codependency, Saturn's boundaries set you free!

Thank you so much for this deep dive on Saturn/Cap. I am a Cap Sun (conj. SN) and have my Moon conj. Saturn in Libra. This so perfectly explains what I would describe as a wistfulness I've had most of my life. A good day or phase is when those pie in the sky dreams seem achievable through that Cap hard work, and a bad day or phase is when they all seem out of reach or hopeless.

Saturn's signs relate to reaping, which involves threshing the wheat and winnowing the chaff
(this also explains the exaltation of Mars)
Saturn brought the satyrs together with the nymphs and taught them to mark time: years, seasons, months, weeks, and days - weekdays for work and weekends for play.
of course we all love our Saturn Days! it's our time to "cut loose" 😉

  • @kstar313

I hear you on this misconception topic! I was born with Saturn in 1st house squaring Moon and Sun in 10th, and ruling Jupiter in Capricorn in 8th. I find that the stereotypes of the signs can sometimes play out on the spectrum of experiences and people you may encounter in your life time and less about who you are as a person. I was born into a stern, cold, dangerous and cruel type family and was rejected and completely shunned by both mother, father and extended family. I am known for my determined, perseverance and ability to workaround blockades and have big emotional compassion for others. So essentially the opposite of the typical description of strong Saturn rulership. The placement challenges me to overcome barriers; I don’t set barriers, I break them.
That being said! Definitely relate to outcast, misunderstood, imagination, deep existentialism, angst and melancholy (at times)!

Speaking of the Moon in Saturn, I’m so annoyed by my best friend who has Saturn Moon and has a fear of suffering.
I never ask her to read tarot for me because what she’d do is seeing sth bad happening to me and talking about it like I’m condemned. And the only experiences I had being threatened by a tarot reader/best friend were all her voluntarily pulled out the cards and said she wanted to ask the cards for me.
Personally I don’t always tell people everything I can read from the cards, especially the outcome of a situation if the people is still confusing on their choices. What kind of tarot reader/ best friend that would tell your involuntary client/best friend that “You’re going to make a decision that is not supported by people around you. Then you’ll have to think and contemplate about it. Not a happy ending though” ??
I’m sorry for writing such a long, angry comment, but really need to share. I really think it’s something with the planets in her 7th house in Capricorn. She’s got a lot of them, together with the Moon.
After years of self-exploration, I can see the beauty of the Sun in the 12th house in Cancer is that, I’m a super positive person. And I can only be at peace with my Soul when I can see there’s beauty and meaning even in the darkest corner on Earth. And still I’m so pissed by those who act as if 1 wrong decision could ruin your Soul forever.

The strangest thing about being a Capricorn (my Sun sign, my rising is Libra, my moon in Sag, but I associate most strongly with Cap) is that even people who don’t think about astrology AT ALL, dislike you, for the very things that Cap is associated with. And, strangely, I understand their dislike. What do we, as honest, earthy Capricorns do with all that? Hard to be brave and just be ourselves!

One of the most misunderstood zodiac signs as you explain it beautifully.
There is this saturnian polarity for sure.
So many artists with their Sun in Capricorn, including musicians (i know a composer with a beautiful melancholic musical style…) or comedians with often a somewhat dry humour but that’s what’s so funny (e.g David Lucas).
Also: what is happening during Capricorn season? Christmas…
And where does Saturn have its joy? 12th house (e.g. meditation…)

Thank you I really enjoyed this and a glimpse into your writing. It was in the Alice Bailey books about Esoteric Astrology it speaks about the mystical Saturn. I heard some of that in your talk today.

I have found through personal experience and observations, Capricorn people are the funniest (as in best sense of humor) people I have ever met! Is it because Saturn is such a hard planet in general to cope with so they naturally are drawn to focusing on the lighter things since perhaps they have mastered the more difficult or “serious” energies? Or that’s where the joy is found and dedication in life in the particular house, maybe? Curious….. 😊

I have Sun/Saturn/Uranus/Neptune all in Capricorn.
A lot of times in my life different people said to me that i am funny as hell and that they never expected that, because at first sight i look overly serious and boring.
The humour just comes naturally, and it also works as a kind of coping mechanism for dealing with Saturn's harshness.
Having this in mind, i also have Moon/Venus/MC in Sag, so maybe i am not the best case study.

Wonderful talk, I received so much to think about. Saturn has been a favorite planet of mine for decades as I believed there
was so much more to him her than was usually offered. Depths
to explore. I have Saturn in Libra in 9th house, close trine to
    natal Sun in Aquarius. Thankyou.

The first real astrology session I went to the astrologer told me you have more Capricorn than I’ve seen in a chart in a long time. And you mention this feminine aspect. I think it’s ironic is that I have been in a weekly channeling group that does channel the divine feminine primarily called Hathor. So it’s ironic because I think oh wow maybe I am one of their kin incarnate haha

Thank you for the research, I have a 6 planet stellium (sun included) in Capricorn and have always felt is as a powerfully creative, intense and very individualistic energy (often lonely). It’s power from below, from quietness and darkness. I appreciate this insight into the history of Saturn, I’ve known it to be mystical and emotional not only withering and structuring.

I've always felt like I held two positions at the same time. I am super sensitive but to the point where I couldn't express it very well. I need time to process everything. It's hard to feel like an outcast sometimes but after learning astrology things started making sense to me for the first time. Thank you for everything you bring! You have been an invaluable source of healing for me

Cancer sun here (also Capricorn in Neptune - 10th house, Saturn 9th house) Though we are opposed, I’ve come to understand a lot more about astrology in general (and how much we are two sides of the same coin) through those stereotypical qualities, your creative interpretations, depth, practicality, and hard work. That’s the reason we are blessed to acquire such insightful information. Hats off to you!

Hello Acyuta! I’m in your year one class and this is such a wonderful supplement to our course material! You say that in Capricorn, we have a “Saturn that exalts Mars.” Would it be appropriate to extrapolate in the same way: “a Saturn that challenges the moon and that depresses Jupiter?”

    • @Adam-Elenbaas

Yes I think we can think about it like that but just as a way of creatively imagining the way planets relate

I loved this so much. I so much relate to and feel how you describe and explain Saturn.
I have a very close Neptune/Sun/Uranus conjunction in Capricorn, 7th house.
    Moon/Saturn conjunction in Aquarius.
I feel that as much as Saturn is misunderstood, those of us with that Saturnian energy also feel misunderstood in life. 💚🪐

I'm a Capricorn sun, Libra moon, Gemini ascendant. I've always resonated so much with my sun sign. There's just something when you meet another Capricorn where there is this instinctual understanding of one another. Whenever I meet a Capricorn I feel like I've been close to them for a long time. I have a lot of traits of being a Capricorn. The one thing that I don't relate to though is working my ass off to make money to be secure. I'd rather find a person to be my best friend for the rest of my life.
