In this video, I will show you how to install Ubuntu in VirtualBox, on a Windows 10 PC. To install the operating system you will require VirtualBox installed with the Extension Pack, as well as the Ubuntu ISO. Both are linked below. This is the full installation of the OS including the Guest Additions package.

Would you please help with below error ? It occurs when I try to install guest additions

FYI - Others commented that they did not have buttons to select during the install. My buttons were cut off at the bottom of the window but I was still able to select them.

I had followed a few other walkthroughs but they had all left me with a machine so slow it was useless and would ultimately freeze on loading causing me to reinstall as the only solution. So far I have a decent speed and not frozen yet. Thank you for this.

This worked great, but the guest additions broke my machine so it wouldn't recognize my graphics card or allow me to automatically install third party drivers. Even from command line. It returned an error that this packages is broken and unsupported. I'm new to Ubuntu and didn't want to spend time trouble shooting it so I just did a clean install over it. I really like that full screen mode, but can you tell me why this happened? I will just leave it as is on this new one unless I can be sure it won't break it again. I want to be able to run proprietary drivers for my Nvidia card and have all drivers update automatically.

If You happen to come across this error -
Could not mount the media/drive 'C:\Program Files\Oracle\VirtualBox/VBoxGuestAdditions.iso' (VERR_PDM_MEDIA_LOCKED).
Try the following -
1. In the Ubuntu VM, Find the VBox_GAs_6.1.32 iso file in the left side of Files explorer.
(You can also look for the CD icon on the left side)
2. Once you open the folder, Right click and Choose 'Open in Terminal'
3. Run the following command :
sudo ./VBoxLinuxAdditions.run
4. Once the file runs and if you get a message like the following -
'VirtualBox Guest Additions: Running kernel modules will not be replaced until the system is restarted. '
Then the process has completed successfully.
5. You may go ahead and restart the Virtual Machine.

I am getting following error:
Failed to get device handle and/or partition ID for 0000000001f49660 (hPartitionDevice=0000000000000c51, Last=0xc0000002/1) (VERR_NEM_VM_CREATE_FAILED).

*UPDATE*
Something was already in the virtual optical disk bay. I simply ejected it and selected: Devices- Insert Guest Additions CD Image and everything worked.
