You can read the same passage a thousand times and get a different revelation from the Holy Spirit. Thank you Mr. Wright for your scholarship on this profound and explosive eyewitness account that reinforces the infallible proof of our Lord Jesus Christ.
I had never considered the implication of Lazarus' resurrection in light of the cross. It generated hope and a sign for the followers of Jesus that God could be trusted for Jesus' resurrection. Thank you for your ministry, Dr. Wright!

This is one of Jesus’ most human experiences. He knows exactly what we go through (I wonder if God only truly understood humans once he was one f us?). Also: “Roll the stone away,” “Untie him” speak to human cooperation with God’s plan. The mourners could have responded, “Yuck, no we’re not doing that,” but instead trusted Jesus, despite their misgivings and experienced something greater than they could have imagined.
A good reminder of God's longing for human participation (and cooperation!) with him. And, to add to your interesting question, we might also wonder if we only truly understood genuine human beings once Jesus came and dwelt among us.

At my Anglican church here in America we started Matthew's account of the days & parables leading up to Christ's sacrifice for us since last month. Our Rector didn't want just 1 week to talk about the Passion so this is VERY interesting to me!! Thank you. Yes, probably multiple motivations behind our Lord’s weeping. May I pose one more? Dare I say, weeping for a (strange) joy. Humans, totally helpless in mourning in front of him, are about to experience the certain Victory that God will bring to every believer. A certain…not a wishful…hope and victory. Hallelujah!
Perhaps this isn't only a preparation for Jesus Himself but also Jesus gently preparing his disciples for what is to come: His own resurrection. Jesus' tears of compassion are not just to show us that he feels like we do - I think they are also a sing that He weeps for us in our sorrow when we're at the grave of one we have loved.
A question about Is. 42:1. Behold my servant, whom I uphold, my chosen, in whom my "SOUL" delights; DOES GOD HAVE A SOUL? IT MUST BE DIFFERENT DUE TO THE SOUL OF MAN BEING BASICALLY OUR HUMAN WILL, AND EMOTIONS.
We are NOT talking about physical death here. This is a metaphysical lesson from Jesus. That when we fall away from our walk with God and "die" in the spiritual sense, we become foul. The WORD (spoken by Jesus) to us once again revives us and we LIVE once more. PLEASE, people... understand metaphysics and the fact that Jesus spoke not to the people without parable. Mark 3:34. The entire Bible is a metaphysical record that brings us SALVATION! Knock and it shall be opened to you. Seek and you shall find. But seek earnestly with all your heart to understand the metaphysics necessary to understand what you find. Else you are lost.

Do you believe when believers die their spirit/essence goes to be with God? Or rather all remain dead, literally, until the resurrection of the dead? Im not sure if youve written on that? thanks.

It seems the early followers and Church kept various habits and practices (differening between East and West) to prepare for Easter and the celebration of the Resurrection.
