I've driven both cars, including countless other RSS and VRC cars, and it seems RSS strategy with all its mods is to have an approachable install and drive mods while portraying 95 percent of the experience of driving that certain car. While VRC just goes the extra distance to include and simulate all the specific in car systems and behaviors that the real life cars have like anti stall or startup procedures or the behavior of tires and DRS etc, catering to a more niche enthusiast/hardcore crowd. Both cars are awesome but for different tastes. Great video as always btw!
@@B4JALT thanks so much, and great summary! EDIT: As F-Man noted, there are RSS cars with added realism systems, but I agree that VRC has taken those realism features to another level
@@F-Man this RSS 2 2024 doesn't have all the features I mentioned, that's why I say VRC goes the extra distance to include them. Both cars are fantastic, it's not a contest. Drive what you like.
Issue I have with both RSS and VRC mods is that servers for them are pretty much empty. If you enjoy hotlapping they are worth the investment but if you're looking for online racing it's hard to find regular competition.
Great reviews as always, Mike! I have to tell you I cannot get that DRS beep to work properly for the life of me! I have tried everything. I’m jealous!
@@jwilly1075 thanks for watching. And funny you should mention that. I had a DRS app that didn’t work for me for probably a year. Then one day I decided to reinstall and try again, and it worked! So I’d recommend a delete and reinstall of the latest version of the DRS Sound app.
In my opinion, yes there are differences between the two in terms of realistic features like anti-stall, visual ldf wing etc on the VRC, and the RSS being more user friendly and easy to plug in and go. But realistically we spend 95% of the time in the sim actually driving, and if anyone thinks they can be the judge of which handles closer to real life when both cars had active drivers from the real category developing them, i think that's a bit stupid. Both cars will have parts more realistic than the others, and only they truely know which is closer to the real thing, so just pick whichever you enjoy driving more and try not to start a war by commenting on something you're pretending to know about.
It would be nice if RSS and VRC could each settle in a specific category of car. I dont really see the point of the two biggest studios constantly going at it on the same cars.
I have the VRC one I haven't driven the RSS, and the VRC is an amazing piece of kit I gotta, say! Trying to race the Ai on the other hand is interesting to say the least lol, I mean in some cases on the start line 🙃 great video Mike! 👍
I've noticed that a couple of recent RSS mods are 'easy' to drive, whether or not this is a good thing depends on your perspective I suppose. Personally I was a bit underwhelmed with their Porsche 963 for example, as it felt very easy to push hard to a degree where I found driving It wasn't very rewarding. This is best highlighted with the brakes, I had to really abuse the brake pedal to get any kickback in terms of lockups. On the otherhand you loved the car, which goes back to my point about this perceived 'easiness' being a pro or a con depending in the user. I wonder whether this is a deliberate direction / strategy persued by RSS? Anyway just my rambling thoughts, great video as always Mike.
Might be the stability in the default setups. For years, people said the cars were too hard to drive, initially. The past couple of years, we enhanced the default setups to make them work well, right away, as most people install the cars and just drive with no changes. For the P96, reducing unrealistic optimal track grip and electronic assists would help. Though, those cars are high-tech endurance vehicles which Porsche designed to be consistently dependable on track.
Mike is being very diplomatic, but let's face the truth - it's not even close at this point. Over last few years VRC caught up with RSS visual and audio quality and far far surpassed them in physics fidelity and accuracy. RSS more or less stagnated and we don't see them pushing the boundaries other that poly count anymore.
Yes that's a really interesting way of putting things, the RSS2 car was all constructed physically using the actual manuals to the car so full data and assisted with the help of Gabriel Bortoleto & Luke Browning, Gabriel just win the Formula 2 world championship, these guys seemed pretty happy with the car at the end, also includes there signatures on the back of the steering wheel, the actual drivers faces inside the helmets + there helmet liveries, the actual Formula 2 Pole lap at Monza in 2024 was a 1:32.160, Mike was getting low 1:33s after a couple of warm up laps probably in the right hands be under high 29s, extra features is cool to have but Pole laps should be something to be admired and strive towards achieving, not something you can get on your 3/4th lap, but yes either way both cars are super cool and both cars sound really nice I doubt anyone be upset buying either.
@@SimStig You claim to have used actual manuals but not even the display is correct and that should be the easiest thing to nail with proper references. The focus on usability over realism is fine and many people prefer it, just don't claim to do otherwise.

does the custom shaders patch and rain tires... is the handling different when the track is wet? and if you put on the wet tire, does the handling change again on a wet track? I thought it was just aesthetics... does it affect gameplay?
Very interesting...Having tried the RSS 2 at Spa, any time you are anywhere near a curb, the car is an absolute goner, with no chance of recovery, quite annoying to be honest. Not so much the case with the VRC from whatI have experienced. Thus, to me, the VRC is much morte stable. interesting to see the difference in opinions here...
I won a PS5 at work Xmas party, so I got Gran Turismo 7. Already had the PSVR2 Headset. Has to get a g29 wheel because my Moza is not compatible. Very surprised how good GT7 is in VR.

There are RSS cars with anti-stall and other car-specific systems fully modeled. Don’t be disingenuous.

VRC cars offer more systems, but when driven by AI at 100%, they are too fast compared to RSS cars, and especially compared to real-world performance.
