You placed the second half of the Barlow lens with the filter attached inside the larger part of the Barlow lens. If you turn the part you put inside the larger part but put it in filter first, your filter is close to the lens and also inside the dew shield.
Great idea! Can you screw on the filter first, then the extender to the threads on the front of the filter? That would might keep the filter warmer and keep stray light off it as well.
Hmmm. I just tried and that does work, but I only got 1/4 turn on those threads in the front of the filter. It is on there though, I'm just not sure those are actually meant to be thread. Thanks!
Understood. I can't find a 1.25" spacer in my box of goodies here so will try your link to get one. I tried just stacking one of the Solar ND filters on the UHC and hit the same 1/4 turn problem you did. But maybe that's enough to support the little spacer? What do you think? I did come across an old 35mm film canister made of black plastic. Hmm.. wonder if I can cut a hole in the bottom to slide over the UHC filter as a little dew shield.. Thanks for you videos! @@DeepSpaceAstro
It would probably be ok, but that's up to you. One of my 2 solar filters just spins when trying this, so like I said, I don't think they're intended to be used like that. I'd keep the D2 low if you're going to try, not on a tripod. I'm just thinking about contraction/expansion due to temp. It "might" come loose, and if it's low to the ground, that would be better.

Dang! I didn't even think about that! Thanks!
Thanks a lot for all the information you provide, Rich.
You're welcome and thank you!
Vey Cool info m8, I get mine tomorrow and stray light was a concern tbh the way the lenses are laid out like a smartphone
Thanks! Yeah that shield should help.
Interesting! I wonder if the weight will affect the motor in the long term the motor, as I saw in another video. Thanks for the info
I don't think so. Dwarf Lab emailed me when they saw it and didn't mention anything about it being a problem.
@DeepSpaceAstro awesome news then. I am getting an Optolong filter for it too. Very creative idea , Thanks
very good video
Thanks!
Very useful!! Thanks!
Glad it was helpful!

This is nicee!

Any chance to use a telephoto lens using the same concept ?
@rickyyoung4060 You mean a DSLR with telephoto lens? If so, then yes.
