I got the Karahawk recently. I have a version of this karambit as well in lesser materials and it's decent. I studied kuntao-silat. Nice to see a martial artist reviewing knives.
Interesting that you changed up your greeting as I don't own any karambits. I read somewhere about 30+ years ago that Al Mar came up with the mid lock. If you are a karambit fan with training in its use, then this looks like a good choice in a folding model. If you occasionally need to cut large amounts of plastic sheeting at work (as I do) it might be a good choice. Thanks for showing.
Very good example of a folding karambit... Did you know that the karambit has its origins from a gardening tool? They used the ring to "hang" the knife on a finger while they used both hands for a "not-cutting-task" so they did not have to lay down the knife... in times of war the gardenind tool mutaded more and more to a weapon...
Yes, in the Philippines, primarily agricultural. Indonesia primarily a weapon. Of course, many other cultures throughout history have used hooked blades for both. 😁🗡️👍
There are actually a few OTF karambits, and they are generally more budget-end OTFs. These are the four that I know of: 1. Viper Tec Hendrix Karambit 2. Ravencrest Reaper 3. Ravencrest Enigma 4. CobraTec Karambit
@@OGBladeReviews I remember that Reese Weiland used to make an automatic karambit with a trigger mechanism in the ring of the karambit. But that was a custom knife.
It's a purpose driven blade, going beyond cosmetics. Collectable, mainly for that reason in this case. But, it's one of only a few back locks in the collection, along with a handful of Cold Steels. 👍🗡️👍 I much prefer liner locks, Axis, compression, etc.
I think for tacticals and especially for combat knives back locks are one of the best options especially the Andrew Demko Tri-Ad-lock that Cold Steel offers.
A very wicked looking karambit. I think it would definitely serve it's purpose well. Great review 👍

Well, we gotta keep the door open to any kinda blade lovers who may be out there! 😆🗡️👍. Yep, they are a specialty item.

There are so many karambits out there. Surprised there isn't an OTF Auto-Karambit....or is there?
The only auto karambit I know of is the Microtech/Bastinelli out the side, with its unique opposite end release button. 🗡️👍
There is an auto OTF karmabit. It's made by Viper Tec but I don't know how good it is.

Outstanding Review! + 1 New Subscriber! :-)
Thank you, and welcome 🗡️👊👍
I just don't like back locks

@@OGBladeReviews My only back lock is my cold steel Recon 1 and it has bit me several times
