This just proves to people how damn good bassplayer and songwriter steve harris is.
One of the best bass intros ever.
Indeed ! It's this very intro that was infectious and made me love IM.
I remember back in the early 1980s I had a friend who was a keen bass player and Iron Maiden fan, and I remember him struggling, and I mean struggling to play this and other Steve Harris bass parts. He was entirely self-taught, and all respect to him to persevering till he was pretty close to the great one himself. He started on a cheap knock-off fender copy and scrimped and saved to buy a genuine Fender P bass.

Playing Maiden is quite doable; buying THE bass might be a bit difficult for it is discontinued and proud owners won't sell it that easily haha.

Don't know if you noticed or cared, but Steve plays the intro of Killers with just one finger.
In fact, he plays many parts that we would alternate, with one finger.
Mirak M He said in a video he made about Steve's technique that while he knows that Steve uses one finger, it's easier for him this way.

Well I've taken the time to watch all your Maiden videos and have to say you're fantastic!
Steve Harris was my idol as I grew us playing bass and learnt almost every song until Seventh son of a seventh son album.
I thought I was Steve's bass clone but now I see there are 2 of us!

Except for the song "Fear of the dark" that we play with the band for everyone wants it, I quit listening to Maiden after 7th Son. I'll see to cover "Still Life" for I do agree that it is a killer song too.

In the intro is Steve striking the A string then E string with the same finger with a small rest between notes?
He uses the same finger, but I use both for I like completeness ;)
