Not only from various cowboy movies but Sholay had the same story line of a super hit Hindi movie , made in 1971 , starring Dharmendra who played the role of a petty thief who was called to a village by a Fauji (who had only one arm) and Dharmendra used to decide by tossing a coin and Vinod Khanna played the role of dacoit leader . Can you guess the movie name and the name of the character played by Vinod Khanna ?
I think you do not understand the meaning of copy and inspiration. Copy means taking exactly same from the source material. But sholay did not do that. They took inspiration from the western source material and added their own creativity and settings to make those scenes interesting.
There was a mass murder of a family with the removal of both the hands of the family chief while he was the only rival or enemy of the DACOIT chief. But still sholay is good as an Indian version of Sergio Leones wild wests.. Even so is the other film - Khote Sikkhe which is the absolute copy of the Dollars trilogy. It's like as if the makers totally fell for the original Ennio Morricone's music and they inserted the music as it is in this hindi movie forgetting the lashings it would beget them later.. 😂😂😂
Sholay is inspired from many Hollywood movie like the guns of magnificent seven and once upon a time in west...but one movie Joshiley from bollywood starring Anil Kapoor and sunny deol is true copy of once upon a time in west
Sholay was all technical gloss. The story was typical Bollywood masala. In our country we conflate box office collections with a film being good or bad. If the film is a 'hit' it is good and if it is not, it isn't. Once upon a Time in the West was a moderate "hit" in the US and yet it is today often considered the greatest Western ever made. As for our "great" script writers Salim-Javed, they will never ever tell you in any interview - and they regularly give so many - that they plagiarised the opening sequence of Sholay from OUAT in the West.

Obviously, these movies were mostly copying the Hollywood musicals of 50-60s. Even the hero's styles were copied. Shammi Kapoor - Elvis Presley. Raj Kapoor - Charlie Chaplin.
(I am not saying everything was copied, but there were lots of hollywood "inspiration" that we are starting to realize, with the advent of internet. My two cents.

The scene, the music, the characters as they come out one by one into the scene and the camera work as they move camera towards Henry Fonda's face is simply so wicked art work by the director of this movie its an epic, which of course Sippy didn't have the talent or the technology to copy and reproduce in Sholay..
Yes sir ,that,s true ,thanks
For a few dollars more
Sholay is a poor ‘jalebi’ cooked from all the Hollywood classic movies.
Not only from Hollywood but other international and old Bollywood movies too ,thanks sir
😢 Sholay is also copied from old Bollywood film Mera gaon Mera Desh.Wherein Vinod Khanna s role was excellent like Gabbar Singh.

Yes sir ek Scene ( english ) lamba tha es waja se ,thanks sir,but please note that I am not a professional edited expert, so excuse me for that
This is not Sholay but Yaadon Ki Baraat
Not copied, but inspired.
Since there was no social media at that time the general mass never knew what is the fact but everything is in their hands ,Sholay was a copy of more than 12 Hollywood and other international movies also from old Bollywood moves , thanks
@@KHAN1561 You're right.👍

Inspite of all these inspirations, there is one unique thing in Sholay and this was Amzad Khan as Gabbar. And because of this Gabbar only, Sholay became so exceptional hit.
Yes sir Amjad Khan ( pride of my city Peshawar ) was then a very famous and popular star of Bollywood, thanks
Wake up. Gabbar was just one of the many. Sholay was a superhit because of all involved. 😂

The name Bollywood is a copy in itself from Hollywood 😂. They're entire survival is based on copying. 😂
A little history for the ignorant: The Bombay movie industry didn't call itself Bollywood. Bollywood was a moniker imposed upon it by the press to mock the industry. They just happened to adopt the term that was used in derision and essentially turn the tables on their critics. Get it?
And you idiots from across the border still watch it regardless of your accusation. Shut up and take several seats.
Around 60%. I would say.
Copy master saleem javed
Great men thinks alike
A guy was sitting in an exam he copied answers from serounding students and add littlebits his own experience and he passesd the exam, 😂
Considering the many other hits copied from Hollywood movies , your observation could be correct with Sholay also !
Those are the days one can easily be bluffed with by basic intelligence
True copy
Suspicious
Never liked this movie 😂😂😂 horrendously overrated and Indians have the gall to defend that this movie was "inspired" and not copied 😂😂😂. Hypocrisy ki bhi seema hoti hai.
The word Inspire is just for courtesy
Good
Sholay is maile stone indian sinema
Sholay is best
"Inspiration"... It's just a euphemism.
Yes it is ,can not use more than that ,
Posse 1975 train scene
Whole Bollywood is inspired from west, don't have any idea of their own
it is copied but at least for once they story is kinda different
Still the script was real

Oh yes, Sholay was copied from several Western movies, with Indian masala added.
The makers of Sholay did not acknowledge it, unfortunately.
The character Gabbar Singh and his famous guffaw were also copied in ditto from the character El Indio, the dacoit, played by Gian Maria Volonte in the movie For a Few Dollars More, starring Clint Eastwood and Lee Van Cleef.
Watch this movie "For a Few Dollars More" on RUclips and you will get it.
Yes sir copied from Hollywood/international movies and old Bollywood moves ,thanks
46 saal baad yaad aya k copy thi lekin naqal me aqal thi original itni nahi chali hogi,us waqt bacha bacha SHOLAY k dailoug bolta tha

What about kitu goidwanis tipu sultan, it is completely changed , he has beard but britishers show without beard. Sanjay khan saab made the serial written by gidwani and the doordarshan made it realease. I want to ask one question why muslim scholar are humiliated, because if the true story are shown on the screen ,not only indian but allso entire world will knew the truth. So let us hide the truth, let us lie to school kids, make some cocktail serials release them on the specified channel and make income from it. This is our dubbed policy. Firoz cuttack.
