I just posted a 'challenge' on Twitter about the best looking microcomputer of the '80s and someone replied Intertec Superbrain, and my search led me here. Just wanted to say thanks for making this content and sharing it with the world. It's one thing to read a Wikipedia entry, or even a blog, but a video like this is a valuable resource to show what these systems were like. Thank you.

I agree. It did look pretty slick for the 80s.

What a wonderful piece of history. I had no idea that Kermit was written for the SuperBrain. I had used Kermit back in my University days on PC's. Great to see real work assembling done on an old CP/M computer. Today 14 Nov 2020 I just got my Superbrain working. I have 2 and today I got 1 to boot up. No display however on the 2nd the display worked to I made 1 good working Superbrain from the 2. I did notice that 64KTest.com does fail so although it boots it does look like I have some faulty memory to fix before I can put it to real work like your video.

Congrats! I have had to combine units too. Watch out for the PS- if it breaks its hard to fix. One case where recapping fully even if working may be a good idea. The unit seen here stopped working and I have to get to diagnosing it sometime. I recommend looking up the old Superbrain newsletters, not hard to find, which really illuminate what was going on with the company back in the day- one of the early PC high flyers that crashed HARD. :)

I didn't know that this was cut off at the end... trying to figure out what happened.

Hi - thanks for uploading these videos, I have an Intertec Superbrain QD, non functional since I got it 10 years ago. Until I manage to fix it, watching these vids is the next best thing! Could you make some more videos about this machine? Maybe go into any specifics about the motherboard, video board, power/comms board etc? There is very little on youtube about the Superbrain, anything you can add would be welcomed by myself and many vcfed forum users. Thanks!

Don't miss my abitoutofplace blog linked in the listing. My restoration work is there. Also see the CP/M forum section of VCFed.org where there are a number recent entries on Superbrain repairs. I'm dmemphis on there.
