  • Key figures specializing in the work and life of Alberto Burri, 1915 -1995, come together to speak on his emotive and groundbreaking work. Burri, a seminal Italian artist in Post-War movements including Neo-Dada, Nouveau réalisme, Post Minimalism and Arte Povera, worked with non-traditional materials and dramatically pushed the boundaries of both painting and sculpture. This panel discusses views from intimate firsthand accounts as well as academic perspectives on his existentialist motivations and radical methods, which include painting with combustion, welded reliefs, and compositions of melted and charred plastic.
