    Before it became Nissan the brand was called Datsun. Especially American sales of the Datsun 240Z and Datsun 510 series made their mark in car history. This Datsun 280Z came out two generations after the introduction of the 240Z and again proved an overwhelming sales success. This one hails from 1976 when it was supplied from new in California. The car has recently been fully restored and decked out with tasteful upgrades, now looking the part. The bodywork was still in great condition after a long life in the Californian climate. The paintwork was taken back with small repairs carried out where needed. The panelwork is therefore in great shape and correctly aligned. The larger front and rear spoilers in combination with the broadened wheel arches immediately catch the eye. They were expertly added by the previous owner during the restoration and professionally resprayed in the lovely brown metallic paint she still bears today. The quality of the respray is second to none with the 280Z standing proud on its large and wide “Watanabe Style” rims. Thanks to the new BC-Racing coilovers they fill the arches perfectly, with the rims completing the car’s look. New stiffer rubber bushings have been fitted, giving this car a superb drive. The interior trim was also taken care of and reupholstered. The seats have nice new black vinyl covering as do the door cards and space behind the seats. There is also a 3-spoke sports steering wheel and a new wooden gearstick knob. The car’s interior has been wonderfully maintained and suits the car’s racy character. Mechanically this Datsun has had every bit of necessary attention. Many engine parts were replaced leaving us with a fantastically running 2.8-litre straight-six. The engine develops 170 Ps delivered through the manual 5-speed gearbox. The fuel injection makes sure of smooth engine operation under all circumstances. The stainless steel exhaust system sounds incredibly rich. This car comes complete with its original title, invoices relating to the recent modification, new parts and labour. They really did not scrimp when turning this Datsun 280Z into something special. Get in this, at least in Europe, very rare Japanese classic and enjoy, that is all that will be required of you!

      It is and that is a big statement.
      But they are unique today, you don't see them any more unless you live in California.
      Any where else they are rare as exotics.
      They are as pure as they get.
      Even if you find a 280z you can back date, so much of the 400lbs it has over the 240Z. Down close to the 240Z weight.
      The things you have to keep that are heavier actually are desirable. The stronger larger diameter strut tubes, the r200 over the r180 diff. Remove the old fuel injection back to 240z carbs good for 200+ HP
      You can also upgrade the fuel injection to stand alone and modern coil packs if you want .
      But simple old school carbs are my choice on a 280z and weight reduction. And is back to the light 240z with improvements.
      People say they are slow this day and age. But Sports Cars , despite selfie photos of burn outs that dominate social media.
      Are ment to DRIVE ,not drag racing.
      As a road car they handle well, they brake well and many many driver's will never drive it's potential in stock or modified form.
      They are true Classic Sports cars that can hold it's on in Classic and Modern day Sports Cars.

    Beautiful car. But I would have left the rear bumper. black or even chrome
