Hi Scotty I love your videos I watch them after I clock out at my job at autozone. I got a question for you. I have a 1986 Dodge Ram 250 custom collecter pickup truck 5.2ltr V8 2 BBL carb 132,000 miles that’s been sitting for 18 years and is in great condition. What major things should I check before I take it out on the road for the first time. I also just replaced the valve cover gaskets and torqued all 8 of the plugs.
Me too my friend! I’m battling the rare men’s breast cancer stage 2 and stage 1 lymph node cancer! I’m heading into my 4th chemo treatment and it’s been a ride so far!! Hang in there my friend! Scotty thank you for being you!

It’s like marrying someone bipolar; the love making is fantastic but you avoid being in the kitchen with them because there are knives and you don’t know if that person might just decide to snap that day....owning a Hellcat is kind of like that.
Most new cars are like that but, halo cars are quirky and temperamental. When anyone buys such a car be prepared to pay through the nose. If you want something that won't cost you so much, but a Toyota, not exciting, it'll be more your cup of tea.

I understand you so much. I had a camaro 2SS fully loaded with zl1 brake and magmetic ride, I had it 4 years, was fantastic (not as powerfull as your hellcat), but sold it 2 weeks ago. I take my 2018 Hemi 392 Challenger on long Sunday drives, the sound and feel of that thumper under the hood puts a big grin on my face and it's comfortable too. That's what I bought it for. My daily driver is a 300hp v6 2013 Impala, love it too. Wife drive 2013 Sonata, works as advertised. My 97 Ram Laramie that I've owned for 21 years still works fine too, of course I take care of my stuff.

They never lied, we knew you needed the extra pcm and race gas for the 840. People getting a demon are looking to have fun not be reliable and save gas lol
Azooz Azzami agreed, he is just some Ford or Chevy fanboy, all the problems he announced in the video have easy fixes, my dad owns a scat pack and has never had a problem
Have a 2004 Dodge Stratus SXT with the dreaded 2.7 liter engine, had little to no mechanical issues and it has more than 157,000. Live in the North East and I spray the undercarriage with Fluid Film yearly and any rust is minimal. It's best to be proactive than reactive. Thank you for all your videos and helping people out over the years.
Scotty, your automotive/mechanical knowledge reminds me a lot of my father who himself was an "old-school" mechanic. Sadly, he passed a few years ago. Like you, he always used to say that Toyotas and Hondas were the best made vehicles. I thought it was funny how you talked about turning up the radio to drown out the noise. When my father's customers would complain about some noise but were unwilling to spend the money to fix it, my father would tell them the cheapest fix was to buy a new stereo so that they could play loud music.
Scotty you didn’t even talk about dodge for 3 quarters of the video and what you said strictly applied to a rarer dodge and it was built to be a extremely fast street car from factory and they accomplished that
You probably took care of it by maintaining it well! My 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan also had 227000kms and very minor problems, like brakes, wheel bearing, and transmission cooler lines and starter. I maintained it well but drove it hard because it was an Uber delivery vehicle. Maintaining a vehicle very well is the owner's responsibility and I don't care what make it is. If you don't maintain it well, it will continuously give you problems. Scotty Kilmer more of an entertainer, than he is a mechanic.
I support your Channel because I am an old mechanic that can't do mechanics anymore. Due to my body is giving up. But the knowledge that I have and the knowledge that you teach I support 100%
I’m late but I’m sure someone will see this. I just sold my 2007 dodge magnum RT with 194k miles. Never had any issues, regular maintenance, and I always babied it. I’m sure it lasted so long because I never raced it or put the petal to the floor. I’ve been looking for something to replace it, and I’ve come to the conclusion that most vehicles will last as long as you take care of them.
Had a charger RT...no issues. Bought a 2019 Ram Hemi...no issues. I will say the clear coat they used on the charger is not the best quality though....was easy to have crap get burned into it if I didn't wash/wax right away.
It’s ok bro. People don’t realize that these cars are really not as unreliable as they perceive them to be. Look on the bright side, since less people are buying them because they think that, there’s less on the road, which means we’re more exclusive!
@Green Soup well if you learn how to take care of a vehicle...you won't have any issues. Besides...Toyotas have had their share of problems too. But I also like Toyota so your argument isn't valid.
As a Challenger owner (2019 SXT AWD) I love the car. I’ve noticed that most people that bash them, don’t own one. Meanwhile all us Challenger owners are having a blast. Also, the details about the Demon and horsepower were well known, that it required racing fuel and tuning for that. Dodge never advertised otherwise.
It’s ok bro. People don’t realize that these cars are really not as unreliable as they perceive them to be. Look on the bright side, since less people are buying them because they think that, there’s less on the road, which means we’re more exclusive!
About that last car question.....if you just gotta have a BMW, buy it NEW. Then sell it before the warranty runs out! Used Beemers are a WONDERLAND of expensive problems once they get some miles and abuse on them. When new, depending on the model, they can be great, fun cars. Sadly, they don't make them like they used to!!! Listen to Uncle Scotty!!!!!!! PS Don't buy ANY vehicle that's turbo-charged! THERE'S NO REPLACEMENT FOR DISPLACEMENT.
6.2L HemiPower when does he not. He is so biased. He takes an inch given and stretches it a mile. Not to mention all the people that worship him and know nothing about cars but now hate chrysler.
ive had a fiat 500 sport as my first car, i always kept up on the oil changes, that boi was durable for it ssize ill give it that, but had electrical issues up the wazoo, my third car was a Chrysler 200 2015, bought used had it for 6 months already was having transmission problems, luckly enough it totaled before it became an endless money pit , currently putting my money on a 2013 honda civic as per ol scotty
Sounds to me like you just bought all lemons. The guys that sold you the cars probably knew they were all lemons. Doesn't mean they're bad cars just means whoever had it before you destroy them and sold them to you as a lemon. Be careful when buying a used car.
@@lifestyle5795 maybe , i wont argue that they could of been. i personally am not car savy so maybe the dealers pulled fast one on me twice. all i know is the fiat and the 200 have been the only cars to have given me trouble. not to say they werent stylish and nice when i could drive em. we will see with my civic if im just a lemon magnet lol
Come on Scotty. I usually agree with you. But you need to do your research before you start talking and flaring your arms. FCA clearly stated to get the full 840 horsepower. The demon needs ECU tune and 100 octane.
Looks like my RT was the better car after all I've only had to buy brakes and oil changes crossing my fingers but it's just a toy in the end of the i wouldn't spend the money on a hellcat
Who else will sell you a factory 10 second drag set up with a warranty?Nobody else does. Always outside the box and pushing the envelope. My hemi powered 300C has been very reliable too. Love that 5.7.
@@SkitsByChris ahh yes but the reliability tho is still questionable the dude who had my RT originally went out and got a scat straight from the factory a month later his lifters went out and he had metal shavings inside his cylinders (i might be off on where exactly those shavings were but still thats very unsettling)... I do hope your having one he'll of a time with the scat and best of luck in the long run to you dude I really mean it 😀 👍
@@miketess4272 this.. this is true.. but how many of these guys are actually using it for what it was designed for, having said that tho you do have a very valid point if you were to use it for its actual drag purposes then your not actually spending near as much as other racers
The same 2008 Challenger design still out sells the Camaro. Not by a lot, but Camaro has struggled to compete with Mustang. I'd like to see a smaller/lighter version of the Challenger. Until you get in a Challenger they look small but its got a large back seat. The '70 Challenger had small trunk, the current model is a better family car. I'd like a rear drive car the size of a BMW E30, but I'm sure most folks want larger cars or SUVs.
I like tge look a lot out of the dodges, but see, what just looks, can get you. If all cars are made around the same budget that means that who ever spent most money on looks spent less on the other important parts.
My 99 blazer had some kind of wiring problem and I determined it wasn’t sending power to the starter solenoid. It only did it at random and after driving it through a puddle of water, after a heavy rainfall. I used to just carry a long handled screwdriver, turn the wheels to the left, and jump the starter solenoid.
I'm 48 and not a mechanic but really enjoy learning. If you could buy any 1 or 2 brands of 2-seater convertable --- what model is easy to work on and has an abundance of aftermarket parts. I could see myself working on it for a a year or 2 and finally geting it painted up and what a joy that would be.
@@azrailroader you don't need to be a mechanic to own a dodge just do the maintenance and any car will last long my girls dakota hasn't had I thing go wrong with it shes had it for over 2 years now
I recently bought a Titanium pearl 2002 Subaru Legacy Grand Touring Edition. I love the car however I get the distinctive feeling that Scotty wants me to trade it in for a 1994 celica
After buying a 2016 Dodge Journey R/T I was a happy dude. The ride quality was good and it was comfortable with plenty of power. I did everything I could to defend the company and say that they’re not as bad as Scotty says they are. That is until I spent over 1200 dollars on repairs that kept popping up. All the repairs were done within 5000 miles. That’s one oil change! The car had 50k miles on it. Total lemons. Got rid of that POS and got a Ford Fusion hybrid brand new. My friend calls me a day later saying he got himself a Dodge Journey R/T. It’s been about a month now and he has spent 10.000 bucks in repairs. That’s more than what the whole car is worth! He still has a long way to go. Dodge being garbage is not a myth. I’ll never buy a dodge again!
I live in Australia and saw a dealership of Fiat Chrysler Jeep Dodge Peugeot It had all those 5 names on the big old sign out the front and I felt like I may as well have been driving past a junkyard 😂😂
Astrxcat XIII man personally I believe if you take care of your car and don’t drive it hard it’ll last but if you neglect it and drive it like a maniac of course you’ll have problems And also depends on how many miles your putting on the car
Bought a BRAND NEW 2020 Ram 2500 Limited from the on 9-30-2020 and I have had 2 problems with the truck. 1st of the tire was bloated manager did not want to replace the tire as I repeat ITS A BRAND NEW TRUCK ONLY 15 MILES ON IT. So it should not have those details. 2nd of all the truck had horrible scratch marks on the back windshield on the top. They fixed the tire but not the windshield part. It was my fault for trusting them. Would I buy from the again?? No I DO NOT RECOMMEND THEM. You were right Scotty
I never had a Dodge/Plymouth that was trouble free. Having said that I liked the torsion bar setup on the 70ish RoadRunners better than my 68 Camaro. Of course the Camaro went through many parts as I broke them with pure HP. Now I have a made in Japan car. Trouble free.
@@michaelchristopher8266 Because they put insane big tyres, put over 1000-1100 hp in stock trans and diff and make 100 launchs... What you expect? If you want a 800 hp car with high interior quality 4 SEATS... eehhh a Brabus probably?
To be fair: 1. Dodge stated that 808 is a Pump Fuel (91 octane) configuration, and 840 is Race Fuel (100 octane) configuration when they first unveiled the Demon at SEMA. Whoever suing them will lose because they haven’t done ANY research on the product they are buying. And I don’t think you cannot afford race gas if you can afford a Demon. 2. Similarly if you are buying any Dodge Challenger you must know about paint chips. This information is something I found upon a single google search when I was 12. If that bothers you, don’t buy it. 3. I mean... the engine’s still running lol (though transmission is the worrying part). 4. The upper side of the Demon is that apparently it’s appreciating? Maybe? It started at 80000 and now it’s averaging 130000 on cargurus. Though the consistency of this isn’t proven, they may drop back down. But still, the Demon is like the upper bound and the closest you can get is the Super Stock, and I don’t think Dodge will unveil anything higher than that. It’s also pretty special - the above described configurations and the Demon crate and the demon melt on the engine are pretty unique. 5. It’s not a car for everyone, and obviously it’s not perfect. But if you want it, there is a channel called Demonology for your information. That’s it. Stay safe and drive Toyotas. Peace.
Scotty, I’m looking into used Dodge Charger GT/RT what year would you recommend? I heard that American cars are horrible but I’m fascinated by their design and power. Used Durango GT is also in my interested as well
5 year old Jeep Grand Cherokee with the Pentastar V6 101k on the clock. Dealer maintained by 1st owner and we changed oil religiously. Threw a valve in the left bank. No check engine code whatsoever..... $4000 fix. What a quality company

Scotty I have a 2013 hyundai elantra recently the license plate light went out now both of my inner tail lights are out I've been hearing the 2013's have bad electricals that burns out all the light bulbs what should I do please help???
He would single-handedly destroy Ford general motors and Chrysler bonus points for BMW's destruction! Renew the staff, and enable Operation: return American car brands to Glory!
Higher speeds don't cause an increase in fatalities, and increase in sudden stops after hitting solid immovable objects is what causes an increase in vehicular fatalities.
I actually agree. I drove a grand caravan for about a year and it sucked. The brakes faded too fast, the check engine light was always on, transmission needed to be replaced all the time and warranty sucked
I'm going to buy a new 2021 tundra sr but I need to know which bed length to get. 6.5 or 8.1 foot. The only thing large I'm ever gonna put in the back is an atv (most likely sport, not utility). Any thoughts?
Scotty I want a v8 car I got hondas and Toyota’s but this time I want a v8 fast Carr , what’s better in terms of longevity, quality, and power , mustang , charger, challenger, Camaro , or should I just invest in a v8 Lexus LS 460 ?
The problem isn't Chrysler. The problem is Fiat. There's a reason why it's called Fix It Again Tony. It could have been worse, they could have stayed with Cerberus. And been a Russian mob on company instead of an Italian mob owned company. But they still sold it to this Italian company that still uses technology from the 30s all the way up into the 1970s and later.

Our good old 2012 dodge Durango is almost about to reach 200,000km and I think we got really lucky with it, it's a very reliable boy
@@mikeoxlong6351 good point! Sometimes means better prices too 🤪
I was just about to say the same, people really believe everything nowadays. I had mine charger rt for over 4 years and haven’t had any issue
@Green Soup well if you learn how to take care of a vehicle...you won't have any issues. Besides...Toyotas have had their share of problems too. But I also like Toyota so your argument isn't valid.
@Green Soup damn that sucks
Dodge: it tells you right on the car to 'avoid' it
”I guess people were getting bored and getting stoned and then they went out and drove.” lol too accurate.

lexus look at this dude
As a Challenger owner (2019 SXT AWD) I love the car. I’ve noticed that most people that bash them, don’t own one. Meanwhile all us Challenger owners are having a blast.
Also, the details about the Demon and horsepower were well known, that it required racing fuel and tuning for that. Dodge never advertised otherwise.
It’s ok bro. People don’t realize that these cars are really not as unreliable as they perceive them to be. Look on the bright side, since less people are buying them because they think that, there’s less on the road, which means we’re more exclusive!
People only rag on them if it’s not a 392 or cat, even the rt gets disrespected 😭
Scotty you’re reaching hard on this one.

Come on Scotty. I usually agree with you. But you need to do your research before you start talking and flaring your arms. FCA clearly stated to get the full 840 horsepower. The demon needs ECU tune and 100 octane.
You are one of my favorite youtubers I live your enthusiasm for your craft.
Looks like my RT was the better car after all I've only had to buy brakes and oil changes crossing my fingers but it's just a toy in the end of the i wouldn't spend the money on a hellcat
The ScatPack is the best option. It plays the middle in my opinion. U get good power but not too costly.
Try to tell my bros, if you a regular car owner 392 and under will do. Alot of muscle cars need a personal mechanic.
The Challenger still looks the best out of all the cars in production right now.

Hi Scotty! Hope you are doing good!

@@scottykilmer Have a nice night..Scotty.
To be fair:
Peace.
Maybe the paint chips off the hood, cause they’re going so damn fast.... but then again, it’s a Dodge. 😂
