Pasta Sisters giving an update and growing more and more everytime they are on the show is so sweet!! Ahaha weirdly proud of them!
Completely agree! I love the quick updates about their success! I enjoyed their humble beginnings in their first Worth It appearance.
My Romanian mum makes this pretty often and its called salam de ciocolata
Next time I'm in L.A. or around the area, I'll definitely drop by
I hope Andrew publishes a book, "The Fundamentals of Why Something Tastes Good". I would love to read it.

Here’s one way to think about it: For any given set of sensory qualities that are real for our brains and brains like that of monkeys and pigs, and for any given real or artificial sensory characteristics that could add to or distract from those qualities, what are the sensory qualities that can be most reliably added or drawn away from our perceptions? What are the sensory qualities that can make something as delicious to us as can bring about flavor, aroma and texture changes, or combinations

If anyone's wondering, Digestives was first developed in 1839 by two Scottish doctors to aid digestion. The term "digestive" is derived from the belief that they had antacid properties due to the use of sodium bicarbonate when they were first developed. Much love from the UK! :)
Edit: this may sound pathetic but I've never gotten this many likes guys. thankssssss :)))

This is a really smart series. Recreating favs from the show. I feel like Steven should be there on an iPad or something, commenting while you create and then edit in the food being consumed together. Those Yin/Yang descriptions from you guys are the best. Anyway, great vids. 👍🏼
I think Steven is slowly leaving buzzfeed with Shane and Ryan from the unsolved mysteries channel
They already have a channel called "watcher" it's great!!
i think steven can only appear on worth it episodes since thats only his contract bc he left and started Watcher with ryan and shane
"Kill this fly for me." Me, to all my cats. One watches, one catches it, the last one eats it. It takes 3 cats to finish off a fly.
Is the one watching really necessary tho? Lol my cat likes to eat bugs too
“I mean, i like them because they’re very boring tasting”
*mood*
I like how open Andrew is to flavors. He appreciates basics but tries so many new things. Makes his tastings more genuine.
The cat is literally Andrew.
I think you would have had a cleaner chocolate exterior if you sifted out the "biscuit sand". The pasta sisters' version had larger biscuit chunks. I think chopping the biscuits might be a way to keep the size more consistent.
This is a basic Romanian dessert (we call it "salam de biscuiți", which means "biscuit salami" or "cookie salami", depending where you're from). Funny I should see it here :)
We have this salami in Russia, and everybody eats it since 50s i think...
This word is greek
I like your profile picture 😂
Don't forget that moms/grandmas tend to make it the size of a Doctor's Sausage (Or Parizer for you :^)) and have some edges sticking out.
@@ChaplainPhantasm I don't remember my mom ever making it, as it's not a dessert I particularly like... Shame on me?
In Russia we call it "sausage for tea"/kolbasa k tcha'u". Every child in Russia knows how to kook it) just butter, cocoa and some biscuits)
Yeah a lot of country’s close to Russia make it, my moms from Lithuania and I used to make it all the time
YES Though in my family we call it 'shokoladnoya kartoshka which means 'chocolate potatoes' since we make them into ovals. We also use condensed milk

2:07 the grandma's recipe book!wow!
In Germany this is called a Kalter Hund-> "cold dog" but its only made with one cookie(butterkeks) and is formed like an elongated box
We have this in Romania, it's called "biscuit salami" and it's super popular. Generally people add turkish delight and/or walnuts in the mix as well and we put coconut flakes on the foil before wrapping it.
Andrew tried to clone himself and accidentally made a cat.
Chocolate salami used to be my favourite dessert growing up in Romania, it's very popular there. We also add rum essence to it.🥰
We have a similar version called 'Cake Batik' in Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia too!
Finally, the comment I've been looking for
YESSS. its my fav! immediately thought of that. so cool have every country has their own versions of these ingredients from reading the comments.
amazing how a dessert have so many version all around the world
Yess i was going to say tht too!
what the heck i'm singaporean but i had to look it up after reading your comment
As others have said, we have this desert in Romania as well, called biscuit salami, I usually make it with cacao mixed with melted butter, sugar and rum essence, or if you prefer, you can melt the chocolate, it gives it a smoother consistency when you mix in the biscuits. However, any way you make it, it's still going to be delicious!
In Portugal everybody knows this recipe even kids. They do it on their own.
You also find it in every supermarket.
The usual variant is with cookies and almonds. It’s not considered a family secret or recipe ... everybody does it with Maria biscuits.
I think that's what the Pasta sisters were meaning to say. It was a family food which is made in every house taught by the grandma of the house and not something which is sold and served in shops.
Took a break for a while . . .
Really glad Andrews still here
In the Netherlands (Holland) we call this “arretjescake”. But ours is not round more like a square shape.

Wow from the comments this seems like a worldwide phenomena. I'm Australian and have not seen this on particular, but what we have that is similar is Hedgehog Slice.
I just did a search for chocolate and cut up biscuit dessert and got SO many different recipes my mind is blown.

You're right! I feel like hedgehog slice may have come from this? Man I haven't had a hedgehog slice in forever.
Lol, here in the Netherlands we have "Arretjescake"
My grandma makes the best of them
Chocolate salami might be the tastiest word I’ve ever heard
🤔 1-chocolate 2-salami
McVities are called digestive biscuits cuz they're flaky and dissolve easily and hence digestion is faster
Dhruv Shah
Actually mcvitities is the brand name & digestives are the product name
It might, but it says on the packaging as a disclaimer that the name does not indicate any digestive properties of the biscuit. essentially it's all marketing.
They're called digestives because originally the biscuit was created by two doctors to aid digestion but now they're just a snack.
Andrew makes me forget there's a pandemic out there. These videos make me feel like I'm hanging out with him. Thank you for the relief of escaping reality if only for a few minutes. :)

Chocolate salami originated in Portugal and Italy (Sicily), then spread to pretty much all of Europe; there are many regional variations (for example, many Greeks use cognac, while Italians usually prefer Sambuca, the Portuguese sometimes add Porto etc;). There are also some traditional dishes, such as the Lithuanian tingynis, that, despite having independent origins, are similar to chocolate salami.
On my last trip to LA (2017), I visited Pasta Sisters. I still think about it every day and tell everyone to go there. It's incredible.
In the Netherlands we have something similar called arretjescake! My mom used to make it for me on my birthday
Andrew gave me a lot to think about in this episode.

I wanted to comment this!
True but its not round but it has the same base. There are alot of versions across Europa.
Also its a Netherlands recipe dutch is the language we speak here

This called Mozaik cake in middle east But it doesn’t have raw egg in it, thanks god 😁
Depends on where in the middle east, in Lebanon we have two recipes, one with raw eggs and it's cooked in, one without that. Both versions have whiskey/bourbon

loool wait is your kitchen and your washer and dryer in the same room?! is that normal??
Sam Elle i think there is a door
Hadn't noticed that before wierd
@@jillithebean2215 ahh that makes more sense
It is in mine lol
In the UK its totally normal to have washer /dryer in the kitchen (and I've noticed usually one appliance that does both)
In Australia nobody has the washer /dryer in the kitchen, only my UK friends, usually the have a small room called the laundry for the washer and dryer setup that has a large tub for the washing machine to empty into plus you can use to soak stuff and wash your dog (if it's a small enough dog lol) as they are usually on top of a cabinet that holds the laundry detergent etc so waist high.
To all Dutch people here.... isnt this just like arretjescake, but in a different shape?
Please keep making these videos. Provides a change in this lockdown period
We have that here on Portugal too.. We just use chocolat powder instead.. And use Port wine for alchool.

Yupp. He had a surgery before to remove that bump.
I am absolutely obsessed with chocolate salami, my family does it every year for xmas
both those biscuits are so gooood. They are "boring" tasting (no filling or extra flavours) but so good in their simplicity. The Lebiniz comes in animal biscuits form and they make me so happy.

every time worth it visits the pasta sisters they always grow bigger and i love that for them
It's interesting that while BF can show those sales increases to any prospective restaurant they want to visit, they choose to pay for their own dinners.
We do it different. All u need is digestives, a Small can of sweetened condensed milk, 3-4 tbs of cocoa powder and 200g of butter. U melt the butter and condensed milk, then add the cocoa powder ( first you need to mix it with a little bit of cold water, so it doesn’t have lumps). When the mixture is even you add the crushed cookies and let it harden in the fridge (best to leave it overnight). That’s it
What country is this recipe from?
@@alzbetadostalova2040 lithuania
I definitely want to try making this dessert. Adding it to my recipe folder!
Side note, it looks like pasta sisters only adds the substantial cookie pieces? They probably separate the crumbs and dust out to get a cleaner look in the chocolate.
