Said it a split second before you did watching trying to figure out why the had a Floyd Rose with a n ABR 1 . Defeating the purpose of putting the Floyd Rose.
The Floyd, as ugly as it is, is working as intended I'm sure. The intonation is set by the abr and is in the correct location for the scale length, the Floyd is there to bend just like you would with a jazzmaster. This guy was actually pretty smart. While everything is wrong with the concept, it's still rightly executed.
sounds like the medical description if the chute didnt open 😆. Seems like its more of a spin doctor/bare naked ladies project mashup (like pearl jam and Soundgarden mashup Temple of the dog). But good observation in any case.
Looking at that explorer case with the interior, handle, hardware and exterior color and material I am pretty sure that’s a like 80s import Hondo or Harmony case. Those guitars were built in Korea by Samick, not sure the cases were Korean made but definitely looks like that.
That “Gibson Explorer” giant truss rod cover is probably hiding the sins from the headstock repair. Have you seen the new exclusives from Guitar Center? They got to spec out a Les Paul Supreme .
I realise it has little to do with product quality, however you’d have thought that a company which has self identified as ‘Makers of the worlds finest guitars’ would have a complete system to catalogue & reference its products.
The chibson explorer definitely needed that abr-1 - otherwise the scale length would've been near baritone territory. And i guarantee it wouldn't intonate worth a damn.
The counterfeit Exp put me in mind of one that belonged to a family friend. I never learned where she got it from. It was built by Memphis, and it had the Explorer body shape with a maple fingerboard. I might not have written it off as a POS if the action were lower. I probably should have taken it from her and made it my own project guitar.
Actually, one could mount a fender style synch-trem and it would make a great sub for any of the bigsby style options. You wouldn't need the saddles. But yeah, the floyd is totally overkill, and not a good idea.
r/guitarcirclejerk ass guitar. the bad headstock break repair is so perfect, it really brings it all together lmao it's a guitar that reads like a greentext >fake gibson >hack job floyd behind the abr-1, messy rout >mini switch nightmare >has a poorly repaired headstock break >asking price: $1 billion dollars, an arm, a leg, and your firstborn child petition to ban everyone's overly ambitious uncle from ever installing mini switches in a guitar. *flicks mini switch* "wait what did that do? it sounds the same"
Its a modified stereo truss cover. Am i seeing that right. It looks like there may be a blue light coming from under that Kahler on the pancake lp thats separating. Might just be lighting or a flash reflection. Either way thats a basket case as it sits but ive seen worse. The guy who is formerly tiki hut was restoring a mahogany top that has a chunk from by the controls across behind the stop bar and partially into one post to about an inch past the stop bar. He did a great job of ftting a new piece and then carving it to closely match . Of cousree it was refinished with a solid color but looked great on finishing.
You DO need the ABR-1 exactly where it is. It's what defines the scale length. If you eliminated the ToM and relied on the FR, the scale length would be massively increased and not a single fret would be anywhere near in the correct place. If you must do a mod like this, you'd need a roller ToM.
Please do more Guitars of the Stars!?! There are so many that would be cool. Pete Townsend deluxe to Mark Farner from Grand Funk and his 1967 Musicraft Messenger to name a few. The Mountain for Jr.'s Leslie West...
I'm just sad for the fate of these unfortunate examples of Gibson guitar mutilation, breakdown and fakery. But these were played and that's the main thing for any guitar.
To be fair, if he’s got that Floyd rose bridge absolutely squeezed against the body…it’s definitely just acting like a tailpiece that you can fine adjust on…I kinda like that idea… 👀
Man, that first guitar made me want to cry! I am an aficionado of the double locking vibrato system, having 3 in my current stable -- but thinking about this useless mod all but made me angry. What a waste! What's more, I'm thinking this guy would have been better served by a Bigsby, because he would have gotten better performance and roughly equal tuning stability. Why pair a Floyd bridge with a non-locking string nut? If you're going Floyd, do it right -- else don't waste your time. The only thing the modder got right on this thing was that it was a POS in the first place!
That “Explorer” has a 3x3 set of Shaller tuning machines, which were designed for a Les Paul headstock configuration, three (3) of them will not function properly, because they are designed to have the string pulling from the opposite side. The way the Floyd Rose tremolo system is set up, I suspect that it would tend to shred the strings, and not in a good way. You can certainly tell that whom ever worked on this guitar, didn’t know what they were doing, at all. It is now in need of a lot of professional work, to play properly ever again. The black Les Paul Custom is also in need of a lot of TLC, and a good luthier could repair it without too much difficulty. It may soon be rocking once again. Thanks for sharing! Please have an excellent and awesome day! ☀️✨🌟🎸

How about Fluffy Bunny and the QT 3.14s?
That’s horrible. Looks like it was routed with a pocket knife.
Sounds like a family friendly version of a Cannibal Corpse song 😂
Those tuners are not 6 in a row, they’re 3+3……what a hack.
LOL. I can't believe he didn't seem to notice that
i played a Frankenstein monster with this set up. so frustrating trying to tune. its like trying to unlearn how to ride a bicycle. 😂 🍻
@@danmartin633 I think he was more focused on the happy surprise that it at least had valuable tuners on it.
I bet those mis-matched springs make the tone SO MUCH BETTER!
the tunes are not 6 inline but 3x3 set inline
I bought a cheap sammick because it had a Seymour Duncan hot rail in the bridge.
Those fine tuners will come in handy on your next jazz gig at the Holiday Inn. I would so pay ten dollars but not a penny more.

Aftermarket trems, when you absolutely need your guitar to be as ugly as humanly possible.

Best place for that “explorer” is the bin. Dear lord. What an abomination. Also what was with the heavy duty electric cables?
Rock 'n' roll is high voltage ! Ask Angus 🎸⚡
Some of those guitars look like they might produce the infamous Brown note.
Lol, brown something

That explorer…firewood…sorry…RIP poor girl…fake or not, you didn’t deserve that fate
That “explorer” is a crime against humanity, but that Les Paul is a fantastic deal. I’d personally love one with a Kahler.
I love when you revue these Frankenstein mods. It's cool wondering what was in the mind of the modifier!
That custom can transition into a melody maker with a suitable hinge system.
Good idea and an exclusive mod.
Rock on.
I've been to a lot of auctions and people can get bid crazy but that's ridiculous
Looks like an 80' Hondo case with that Explorer
Ah, the old Floyd-o-matic treatment!
how many bends before the string brakes? 😂 🍻
1:02 that's a Kahler
That is 100% not a kahler lol
@@ec29w 100% - yes, it is.

You didnt mention the Explorer has 3x3 tuners!
Most upsetting guitar eval in decades… 😢

Take the strings off and give it away to an air band!
No battery compartment for the emg.
I wanna lock my strings in place so I don't lose my tuning. Better keep the knife edge bride on there though.
Got to the point of thinking, could the body separation be because of the pressure of the kahler?

MIK.
As a connoisseur of musical garbage, I am absolutely in love with this guitar, fake or not. In fact it being fake makes it more attractive to me
So basically it's a locking bigsby?

Hello Trogly, what say you on the 3000 counterfeit gibson guitars just seized here in SoCal today at the port of los angeles?
That poor thing needs pickguard which can covered whole body 😢
I wanna be honest, pot codes is pretty vague too though
