That kit is solid, especially compared to strips, but it does not test for GH or KH. Not sure if they’re applicable to turtles, but I figured I should mention it! I had to buy them separate.
I have the same small pitting on my RES carapace, it's been there for months now but it just stay the same (not getting worse / smelly / soft). I guess it must be from when they bumping into things.
Water depth, the temperature in deeper water is warmer than the one near the surface. So if the turtle feel like it's too cold, they will go to the deeper part. The same principle when keeping Koi outdoor.
Hi, I'm currently doing research to house an aquatic turtle (pelomedusa subrufa) and at the start of the video you mentioned it's better to have a stable pH rather than a specific number. Is that the case for all species of turtles ? Also, how often should I be testing my water ? Thank you so much for all your videos, they are all very informative and fun !
basically yea. just do water changes whenever you notice discoloration or a lot of floating defecation to get rid of ammonia/nitrate, and your pH should be stable if you get your water from the same source. if it's not well water you should add some dechlorinator though. african sidenecks are hardy guys and simple to set up

Water quality in my tank drives me literally crazy! Always having issues.

Hey love the pond setup.. how do you manage the water temperature in night time if it gets cold?
