When I do large maintenance like this, I try to do filter cleaning a day or two later, my reason being, I don't want to touch ew filter 😂 so I clean and rince it out in normal tap water, not tank water like everyone suggests, de-chlorinated obviously. But I just don't want to take out to much good bacteria out at once, and I haven't had a problem. I maybe clean once every 2-4 weeks 😅. And glass wise, just once a week a quick scrape with the magnetic scraper, for the little spot algea.
Overall I think this is a great video for beginners to learn and adapt from! Thank you!

@@antwonevis5249 if you have well water this should be fine, but if you have city water, the chlorine or chloramines will kill the beneficial bacteria in your filter. that is my reasoning for doing it in tank water, however if that is working for you, i wouldnt change a thing! I appreciate the comment! happy fishkeeping!

@@Fishforyou2023 unfortunately not lucky enough to have a well, but our city water is quite good. But I 100% agree that it semi-kills the bacteria in the sponge, that's why I time it a bit later than the water change, so that the bacteria in the substrate and everything can be happy and in balance before I clean the sponges. That way no massive interruptions really happen. Thanks for you comment! Happy fish keeping to you as well!
