Moments like at 2:00 are the moments you get the chills and realize why you do music. That sensation driving up your spine drawing the emotion in the piece, that's what it's all about! I loved when we played this song !
I remember playing this for my senior year, it was my first and only time in high school band and even though we only had like 17 people in our band it was one of the best performances we did, it was just so beautiful and warm! Playing tuba on this was so awesome
I'm a tuba player and we're playing this for our winter concert. The octave slurs kill me but I also hate the rests. But it's such a pretty piece. An awesome way to start out my high school band "career" (I'm in the top band but sophomore)
I played this song in the All-State Concert Band a couple years ago. The trombone part wasn't particularly "exciting," but it was still an amazing song to play
I play second clarinet (for high school band) I love playing this song, it's my favourite and sounds so beautiful :) but playing the high notes for me is difficult :(
umf. we're doing this in band (high school concert band) and the brass and saxophones have it beautifully, but the clarinets and flutes cant shape the chord at all....:(((((
@MrMertakhai The trombone part makes in blend really well but the trombone part to anything is never really as 'amazing' as something the woodwinds would do.

MicroFSXPilot good luck man it's a beautiful song!
ayye!! tuba player myself, and my band is playing this for our spring concert
Those French Horns are killing it!!!!
I'm first trombone, high school, and we played this at our last concert. It's just an amazing piece.
... that's a big band... gorgeous!!
2:00 favourite part
I’m doing this in band, and it’s impossible for clarinets to trill from b flat to d! Also the 54 beat long a at the end is a bit of a challenge 😏
Wow, pretty awesome to FINALLY have a recording by the California all-state band.

Beautiful!
This is amazing. How I only wish I could have played something like this in high school
We just received this piece, and I’m an 8th grader in a middle school honor band. It’s a nice musical piece.

Keep practicing, I would give tips but I play trumpet. I play 1st trumpet on this piece, high notes do get a bit hard.
I’m paying first clarinet and it only goes up to a high d which is not even bad
@@alexcarlton4172 its different for a lot of people. some can play them easily, some cant
i rember win i was in my high school marching band we played it for are pepband
That second trill B flat to D is literally impossible on clarinet, I can see how this was written for singing now band. Still sounds great!
Amazing. the clustering chords are mind blowing.
The dissonance is gorgeous!
GENIAL

out of tune clarinets are the worst. eep!
Band did a flawless job playing, but the the director rushed the piece way more than it should have been
sorry no
@concertoldham Can't you just see the magical flying pirate ship?

@Frankie029978 I'm fourth chair trombone but I'm in high school :P
