Grimlock in the comics is easily the most complex character in the Autobot ranks, he has his own moral code and does not take orders, and is more ruthless than many Decepticons.
I'll be honest: I never saw Gregg Berger as G1 Grimlock, but I can't imagine anyone else voicing him. To me, Berger is what Peter Cullen is to Optimus and Frank Welker is to Megatron/Galvatron. (also, a deep, growling delivery like this *can't* be easy on their vocal chords)
I didn't notice until my rewatch of this mission today, that at 15:06 one of the cons pushes his buddy down to the ground. Straight up hoping that sacrificing him would save his own life
I love how scared some of the Decepticons are of Grimlock, with one screaming about not wanting to die, and another hiding behind his friend. I also love how brutal and merciless Grimlock is, especially at 16:29 with how many times he stabs the Decepticon in such a brutal way.
Grimlock is smart in the Marvel UK and War Within comics. In those he's a millitant warrior who feels Optimus' compassion is a weakness.. He's ruthless and despises most of the Autobots, but also the only person who matches Optimus in terms of leadership and courage. His comic book characterisation is close to his toy bio. His motto is "Among the winners, there is no room for the weak."
They really upped their game since WFC. Not just in terms of art direction and dialogue, but also the fact that every character has a personal gimmick and each level has a laser-focused design to utilize that gimmick to the max Such a fun game, man, it's even better than I remembered it as a kid The devs understood transformers better than anyone

Plus, i think we will get to that point later in the trio logy. . Im not sure if the sword was a significant enough part of his character for him to need it. Kind of the same with movie optimus replacing the traditional axe with a sword. Him being an over grone horse works with all the drones he killed.He didn't feel like a mount, he felt like a partner to me personally. Honestly he did play a pretty big part as the dinobots were the only reason they won that battle. I liked that in comparison with optimus here, grimlock worked with movie optmius and allowed him to ride him because of a show of unwavering strength. Its a triology, its only the set up for whats to come. Optimus telling him the dinobots were free from his control also added a since of honor that grimlock will be bound to remember later. I have a feeling that the dinobots and grimlock will become more like they are in here. Plus, i like how all the dino bots in general were freaking massive even in comparison to them here. I liked the idea of them being ancient warriors as well, it works. Age of extinction sucks ass, but i think they got most things right when the bots were on the screen. And Mark As Cade wasn't too bad either
Making the dinobots random ancient warriors was wrong to begin with. They were always Autobots. And this is twice now that Michael Bay has made Optimus sooooo over powered that he could beat on an ancient transformer twice his size and strength without trying. In the comics and the shows, Grimlock was more then a match for Optimus. Grimlock was able to go blow for blow with Bruticus and Devistator but can just get his ass handed to him by Optimus in the movie? Grimlock would also never just bow down and follow orders from Optimus. Michael Bay changes around waaaay to much crap. From a movie stand point, yes it's a good movie, but from a true Transformers fan, every movie after the first one is a huge let down. And don't get me started on that crap with "Galvatron."

Tbh I prefer it. This incarnation isn't a complete idiot like in G1. In fact he's a leader much like optimus, a far more aggressive and violent one, but a leader nonetheless and one that very clearly cares a lot about his team.
I would have him as leader of the Wreckers; his style of combat definitely fits. The Wreckers of course tend not to like someone uptight being in command of them, but Grimlock would unleash them like the houds of hell
Anthony Clay I know it’s been a few years since you wrote this but Grimlock caused issues for all Decepticons while Autobots were just planning on a place regroup and prepare retake their home world shortly afterward.
I like how this game took one of the more goofy aspects of the original Grimlock in how his mind was built to be simple and how it effected his speech even and turned it into a more tragic part of him being a result of Shockwave’s experimentation. He’s not dumb, he just literally can’t think properly anymore after being lobotomized essentially. On top of that I like how Grimlock gets more savage the longer the level goes on. His design here is perfect, they really captured the idea of him being the Autobot’s powerhouse, and in gameplay this was one of the most fun parts of the game with the melee fighting system. I think it ended up being the basis for the Deadpool game since that was also High Moon.
Man i love this game sooooo much. Thanks to FOC i started to realy like the Dinobots and especially Grimlock. It was just EPIC to play as him, especially in his T-Rex Mode *_*. I would LOVE to see Grimlock in one of the real movies. Come on Bay!! Give us the big, bad Dinosaur....and less stupid humans :P
One thing I found weird is why did they make Swoop sound like he is from the Bronx? Not that it is a bad thing but a huge step back from Swoop's third person speech from the animated series.
