I think the orangery would be nice left as it is for cut flowers and veggies in the winter. It could have maybe a place to relax in nature for visitors while still serving a function that benefits your bottom line with fresh produce for the chateau. The chicken coop will be beautiful. Maybe some goats and sheep in the piggery area. If I were staying somewhere that beautiful, I’d want it to be something like the early days were. It’s a beautiful house and grounds.
Fresh herbs even in winter. Set up like an observatory with a cobble path benches & seating areas to read or watch plants grow! A glass roof & a place where u can pick oranges or sage in January!
A couple of cabins at the lake will make the beauty and quiet disappear... you are guardians of the land nature now and what a privilege you have. A beautiful spot. Wish you all the best of luck!

If it were my place I would leave the orangery and restore it to better than ever. In the future when you go out to spend some time there and collect your produce in the winter you will be glad you did. In the world we are living in now it will be a very valuable asset.
I would keep the orangerie. If you will Make holiday let’s you need some nice patie plants that surround their outside space. Also in from of the Château you might want nice summer plants and they do need a winter place. The orangerie would be perfect for that.
I’m glad you’re just starting the renovations. Looking forward to watching it all happen from the beginning. Bring on the renovation videos!! Only suggestion I have is do what you like and what will make your family happy. Watching from Tennessee USA 🇺🇸
Can't wait for the construction to start. Love to watch men at work. Gotta have chickens. Get the vines off the buildings they can cause alot of damage. Good luck!
Loved the tour. It's true much of the first works on the grounds is always clearing and uncovering things. Then you really see the space. Maybe try to metal detect as you go, could be interesting things to find.
Thank you so much for your post lots of work but lots of rewards at the very end keep healthy keep strong keep safe and keep united as a family much love and blessings are being sent to you and yours from my family to yours from Long Beach California, bye for now, Rosemary🌹
I know you probably need the income, but I agree with others. You should keep the orangery as an orangery. You could have chairs and tables in there if you wanted to for your guests to escape to it in the winter to read and/or relax.
Ooooo! You can turn the barn into a wedding chapel or a spa and massage parlor. A studio. Home movie theatre. Entertainment venue with a place for catering. An indoor pool and jacuzzi. A mens cottage or a game room. Put a indoor bowling 🎳 alley, pool table. Or wherever it is you all play there. Or an exercise gym. So much you can do with so much space
I love Tony’s ‘lick of paint’ the lick of paint meaning sanding wood or iron or stone work down to solid health. treating everything with protection stuff, primer undercoat top coat and finishing coat!!!
One building near the chateau should be converted to a combination work shop, garden tool shed and garage. Safe, dry, and secure for power tools, lawnmower, etc. A place for your table saw and a work bench.
The chicken coops could be revise for the chickens and the pig area for pigs. The orangery could be turned into a cottage for out of town visitors who want to enjoy the country life . The barn could be turned into an event for weddings and such. The workshop could be turned into a kitchen for the events handled in the barn.
Its a couple years down the road now and I am more excited than ever to see what your team does with these out buildings!! What ever you decide it will be amazing!
to find out what the wall says I would suggest trying to do a rubbing of the area. take a pencil or chalk on paper and lightly rub over the whole block it should allow you to see letters that the eye can't see anymore. failing that try wetting the stone as that is a fast way to see if the letters appear easier to read.
I think what you do with the barn depends on how you want to make money off the property. Also maybe talk to your neighbours does it make more sense to do a wedding venue or to just do holiday cottages, what's more profitable or less stressful, I think that's very personal. As for the orangery it looks like it would make a really lovely cottage but you mentioned previously that you were going to try to grow as much as you could to live off the land and the extended season than orangery would provide, might be something to think about. Your video quality over the last couple has definitely gone up particularly for sound, so congratulations on making interesting content that keeps getting better. Also if you are worried about people being interested seeing the tedious parts of renovation, timelapses work really well plus you could do things like take us on one of the walks with the dogs so we could see a bit of the beauty of the countryside, just an idea.
When you're filming, I'd suggest less static camera with talking heads and more panning (slowly around) with a voiceover. Thanks for sharing your project.
I would keep it as a L'ongerie. Out front would be a great garden space. Doing these will afford you fresh produce and more importantly, fresh citrus in the winter.
Definitely use the Barn as a in ground swimming pool with sauna and steam room! Glampping tents by the lake. Stables as a holiday let. Piggery for pigs, chicken coupe for the chicks and the orangery for beautiful fresh produce. Hope you like my ideas😃 cheers
Your buildings and land have so much potential! For the orangery perhaps restore it celebrating the kind of aesthetic design that it may have originally had & with indoor plants - it would make a beautiful holiday rental, would it be large enough to host any kind of events? The barn does look like it could be a great entertainment/function space that you could generate income from eg parties, wedding receptions or holistic space eg yoga, qi gong, mindfulness sessions etc.
Great idea's, as an American a holiday/vacation rental would be wonderful. Also depending on using the main Chateau as a event business I would recommend having an in house florist in one of the out building, also woodworking shop, French/European boutique.
Hello ! Maybe the letters are a roman number ? Maybe you can place a sheet of paper on the carving and rub the paper with ashes from your fireplace to make the carving appear more clearly. Like a transfer. I'm eager to know !
Super to be able to see all the different areas of the Chateau, it going to keep you all busy for a long time, but so exciting when you’re all there and a get stuck in together xxx
Perhaps keep the orangerie and grow your own citrus and make a special chateau marmalade to sell. The barn would make a great indoor market or brocante. Perhaps create a cookery school that you can stay at.
Aww you didn’t take the other dogs 🐕. Do they no not listen to you. You guys are doing a wonderful job. Love that you’re sharing your wonderful videos.
Sometimes you can do rubbings of inscriptions by taping a piece paper over the stone inscription and thoroughly rubbing over the carved area with the broad side of a crayon. The lettering and numbers may become a bit more apparent in that medium, given the increased contrast of crayon on paper, than by examining the carved stone directly.
Your grounds and out buildings are situated beautifully. Lots of planning went into this originally. My I suggest keeping the donkey's home as it's meant to be, an orangery. The family who built this, were most thoughtful. Love your vlogs. My best wishes to you all... ❤🇦🇺
If your looking at weddings or events, use the Orangery for the wedding service and the barn for the party. ( closer to a kitchen) Gites will be amazing in lovely grounds
Thank you so very much for explaining the types of buildings on the estate. It looks like the first thing you need to do is clear away the overgrowth and get a feel of how the buildings can be used for visitors. Maybe the horse stables could be used for a swimming pool changing rooms with a bar. I love your family room and once you redo the walls and add electrical outlets this would be a wonderful place for guest to come together in the evening and have refreshments and meet other guest. Keep up the great work. I can't wait to see what other projects you are doing.
One of the buildings should be turned into a wedding venue. You have a amazing place unfortunately lots of had work but you will manage it. Looking forward to seeing more vlogs. Up the boro x
Keep the orangerie as a greenhouse space, maybe horse riding holidays where people bring their own horses and use the stables. Wedding venue for the barn and perhaps an arts/ cultural space for visual and performing arts? I realise conversions are expensive but the above ideas might be cheaper.
Big decisions to make - you've certainly got plenty of scope! As others have said, the cathedral barn would make an amazing wedding venue ... but it depends on whether you want the work involved with running a wedding venue. However, you could always subcontract the planning to someone else and simply let out the space. The French do like big gites which are capable of hosting 10+ people for family reunions etc, so thats another option. There are some really attractive buildings, which could make beautiful cottages to rent out. Thank you for another really well put together video.
Hi guys. I lament the chateau owners who convert every last outbuilding into a holiday cottage. You are in a rural area, please consider preserving some of the original functions of each of these buildings. Get a couple of pigs! Also, it may not be practical or cost effective to run water and electrical services to the old stables and orangerie. Having some rustic spaces doesn't mean they are unusable. The old stables would be great as a project or teaching space to run workshops and small conferences. I think concentrating on the barn to provide event space and some guest accommodations would be a good start. Your idea of cabins down by the lake sounds really good.
Make sure the barn roof and water drainage works. Move the living trailers in put in electrical, gas, water and sewer in. Hook up the trailers. Once the main house is acceptable to live in get rid of the trailers and decide what the barn will be. You have a good roof and skin with all utilities to the barn. The key goal should be to live on the house.
Those things on the stone fireplace are Roman numerals
The barn should remain a barn, it’s incredible. Could be used as a wedding venue.
Yes it would be fantastic as a wedding venue 🥰
Yes. Make a 1bedroom bridal suite and reception / banquet space for weddings!
What a great idea! Just think of Escape to the Chateau (Dick and Angel) and how successful their wedding business has become (pre-covid).
Return on investment for use as an event venue far exceeds ROI for any form of accommodation. Just from a purely financial perspective.

The massive building with workshop at 1 end could be turned into a guest house for large family rentals. Someof can sleep 12 with pullout sofa beds
Yes we like the idea of that 😁
Or murphy beds
Super to be able to see all the different areas of the Chateau, it going to keep you all busy for a long time, but so exciting when you’re all there and a get stuck in together xxx
Thank you very much 🥰
Perhaps keep the orangerie and grow your own citrus and make a special chateau marmalade to sell. The barn would make a great indoor market or brocante. Perhaps create a cookery school that you can stay at.
Aww you didn’t take the other dogs 🐕. Do they no not listen to you. You guys are doing a wonderful job. Love that you’re sharing your wonderful videos.
Wow, what a beautiful property.
Thank you very much 🥰
I imagine you may need a few of the buildings for projects and materials. I think whatever you do will be fun and quite interesting to watch.😊
The stables would probably be a great place to make an exercise gym with treadmill, peloton bikes, weights ....
Why would they need an exercise gym?? They will do enough exercise fixing the place.
Beautiful chateau! I’m a horse lover so I’d just keep the stables as stables. 🙂
Thank you very much 🥰
Sometimes you can do rubbings of inscriptions by taping a piece paper over the stone inscription and thoroughly rubbing over the carved area with the broad side of a crayon. The lettering and numbers may become a bit more apparent in that medium, given the increased contrast of crayon on paper, than by examining the carved stone directly.
Thank you very much, we will definitely try it out 🙏🥰
Your grounds and out buildings are situated beautifully. Lots of planning went into this originally. My I suggest keeping the donkey's home as it's meant to be, an orangery. The family who built this, were most thoughtful. Love your vlogs. My best wishes to you all... ❤🇦🇺
Thank you very much 🥰🏰
The orangy would make a lovely holiday let. You may need a green house type building, also.
If your looking at weddings or events, use the Orangery for the wedding service and the barn for the party. ( closer to a kitchen) Gites will be amazing in lovely grounds
Thank you very much for your great ideas 😁🥰
Make the barn a massive venue let for parties adn weddings. The high ceilings are amazing!
Thank you very much, yes the roof space is amazing 🥰
Thank you so very much for explaining the types of buildings on the estate. It looks like the first thing you need to do is clear away the overgrowth and get a feel of how the buildings can be used for visitors. Maybe the horse stables could be used for a swimming pool changing rooms with a bar. I love your family room and once you redo the walls and add electrical outlets this would be a wonderful place for guest to come together in the evening and have refreshments and meet other guest. Keep up the great work. I can't wait to see what other projects you are doing.
Thank you very much 🙏🥰
Paper and a lead pencil could help to figure out what it says in the barn. Like gravestone rubbing.
Monetary wise, I guess any buildings you can turn it to lets/houses is the best way to go.... you can build a coop from wood anywhere!!!!
We definitely can, we have other plans for let’s also 😁🥰
Great to see your project from the beginning. Looking forward to following your journey. You're a nice couple and family.
Thank you very much 🥰
The building would be great to rent out, OR, consider renting/exchange for a person to work on the grounds.
I would keep the barn as such. The cow idea will give you fresh milk. Which you can make butter and cheese.
Thank you very much 🥰
You could have a few horses for recreational use for guests.
Great idea 🥰
One of the buildings should be turned into a wedding venue. You have a amazing place unfortunately lots of had work but you will manage it. Looking forward to seeing more vlogs. Up the boro x
Thank you very much 😁🥰
Keep the orangerie as a greenhouse space, maybe horse riding holidays where people bring their own horses and use the stables.
Wedding venue for the barn and perhaps an arts/ cultural space for visual and performing arts?
I realise conversions are expensive but the above ideas might be cheaper.
You should try and do a lead etching over the stone lintel on the fire place, that may show up more of the lettering?
That’s a great idea 😁 thank you very much 👍
I've come back from the future just to remember what it all looked like back when. WoW Such Progress!!! 🌹
Can’t wait to see some work being done in the chateau‼️😁👍🏻
Big decisions to make - you've certainly got plenty of scope! As others have said, the cathedral barn would make an amazing wedding venue ... but it depends on whether you want the work involved with running a wedding venue. However, you could always subcontract the planning to someone else and simply let out the space. The French do like big gites which are capable of hosting 10+ people for family reunions etc, so thats another option. There are some really attractive buildings, which could make beautiful cottages to rent out. Thank you for another really well put together video.
Thank you very much 😁🥰
@@chateaudelalacelle Hey guys, I could be your wedding planner !! xxx
@@carolcooper3466 definitely 😂 we would need one 🥰
I would keep the workshop as a workshop you have to keep up with maintenance
We definitely do, we are currently just using the garage as a workshop but would be great to get the original one back 😁
The stables are a good for a bungalow.
Thank you very much 🥰👍
Function room rent out for parties and weddings, great idea!
UTB
Great grounds as well as a fantastic chateau
Thank you very much 😁
Can't wait to see what the numbers and letters are!
It’s a world away from the boro, no disrespect to the boro I live there. Loving the show ,good luck
Thank you very much 😁
Make sure the barn roof and water drainage works. Move the living trailers in put in electrical, gas, water and sewer in. Hook up the trailers. Once the main house is acceptable to live in get rid of the trailers and decide what the barn will be. You have a good roof and skin with all utilities to the barn.
The key goal should be to live on the house.
Yes that is our plan 👍
Your current “ Family room “ is fantastic and beautiful!!!
Thank you very much 🥰
Can't wait to see more improvements. 😃🥰
Thank you very much 🥰
Thanks for the tour of the outbuildings....
You are more than welcome 🥰👍
