Its more or less similar to the firefighter training I did many years back in Singapore at our own fire academy.. I'm a firefighter and watching this video reminds me of my training days.. It was always hot at the academy in Singapore!!!! And the first time I had to put on the full bunker gear, I couldn't move properly and I perspired buckets!!!! Pretty used to it by now though..haha..
@oto24680 you want to be in the fdny? well thats going to have to make you a must and a really want to get on the job. get a good score for written exam. get a good time for cpat. the job wont be closed even if your on the hold list. when it gets to you then it gets to you. nyc is having problems with hiring pd and fd.
@JohnPinkney123 you have a number like everyone else. you get put on the hold list until its your turn. sometimes it will take months before it comes to you. in the fdny its been hard. they havent hired anyone this year i think. even backdooring from ems didnt get much from hiring them.
@oto24680 lol but you can migrate at any age of 18 but to join fdny you got to be over or at least 21 to 31 yrs of age. and many many many ppl will be taking the written test and the cpat test.

you have to go through the academy even if you've taken fire 1 and 2 right cause im a firfighter in NJ and when i graduate high school i want to go into airport firefighting (i have fire 1, 2 and hazmat operations) i think i need rescue airport training and a couple other things thanks
Nope, my father is. But it's only demanding because they have the best trained firefighters I've personally ever seen. The grade you get on both exams is the grades that determine where your name is put on the list. Your right, the economy has to improve before they start classes again.
@taylorjacquise What department are you talking about? Some departments like FDNY and many others don't care what training you've had previously, you must go through the academy. Yet other departments will accept you if you can pass some simple skill tests.

5 minutes 12 seconds on stair master with 75 lbs on your back,ladder raise, forcible entry simulator,crawl through a maze,advance a charged hose line through a maze, dummy drag 150 feet,at a 150 lbs,then 5 reps of pulling a ceiling. good luck
Lol I hope you plan to get a 100/100 on the written and physical. I am 19 and I want to join FDNY but the list is so long it's not even funny. And the next test is in 2011 so, if you get a good grade you might be called when your 25 lol.

I'm a firefighter in France and have the opportunity to go to F.A. once a year since 2003.
