Did you meet me in person? This is me. Who you are speaking of. I apolagize for being away for so long. I was in an MK Ultra program from birth and was unable to get free till now. So, I am speaking out. Nice to meet you, spirit soul! Thanks for your nice words.
They opened with this when I saw them on what was probably their final tour in 2012 or 2013. Decked out in florescent facepaint, they set a super-high bar that the rest of that show absolutely nailed. I'd seen them back in 1993, too, but they were far better on that last tour.
I did not know this existed until just now!!! Where the ? Have I been?!?!? It’s not spectacular cover, by CB standards, but is is a CB song I’ve never heard before. Thanks for sharing!!
I've never heard this before... Just different enough to be entertaining. I prefer the original, but this is a very interesting interpretation of the song.
Very few artists could do a cover and put their own stamp on it like Ms. Napolitano. Everybody Knows is actually better than the original, IMO. I like how she just went straight into the chorus in a melodic fashion as opposed to the drum crashes in the original.
Versão dukaralho!! Johnette ?Concrete Blonde e Midnight Oil, duas bandas fodas das quais eu tenho a discografia completa . Quem não conhece corra atrás. Vale a pena demais.
As the 1980's were coming to a close and the refreshing shot in t arm so sorely needed after "disco" "ABC" excepted! was fading, I was pulling out ever larger stacks of oldies to play. What kept it alive? Nirvana, Cosmic Thing -B52s Rockin in the Free World..Niel Young. And especially Concrete B. or I was awfully ignorant till 1989! I'm only familiar with their first 2 albums.
So, I just found this. And now I realise I've been living under a rock all this century. I'm a fan of both the Oils and Concrete Blonde. How did it take me this long to find this?
Nah, an American band doing a song about Australian Aboriginals lack of land rights is naff. I like both the song and Concrete Blonde but the meaning is lost here.
True, but it says steam in 45 degrees at the start. Being from the Southern hemisphere, I'm sure that's a temperature reference in Celsius. Their lyrical reworking isn't the best.
@sum body NO sorry doesn't touch the original , Midnight Oil has a strong connection with the Indigenous Community in Australia , especially back when this song was released , the passion that Pete showed in this song can be heard , as Chris Carr has pointed out the Meaning is lost in this version, don't get me Wrong I love concrete Blonde have all the Albums
Personally, I like it. They tried to do something different and for me it works. I get that not everyone will agree, but then, you can always go back and listern to the original.
The most beautiful, amazing vocalist in history!!
Very cool. I could listen to Johnette sing the phone book tho, so I may be a bit biased. Thanks for sharing!
She does a tarot card reading every day and it sounds like music!
Johnette is just the tits!!! Forgive my white male sexual bias.
Nothing wrong being biased. Figure you're in good company. I'd not mind her singing the warning labels off pillows.
Omg I didn't know they did this cover. I'm so glad to have found this.
check out the original it is pretty awesome
Jardel Lucca I’m an Aussie and a big Midnight Oil fan and this is awesome.
I've never heard this!!! Thanks for posting. When Johnette/Jim do a cover its always amazing with their flare. Awesome!
Saw them do this live on their 20th anniversary Bloodletting tour in Melbourne. They were amazing!
Another song I never heard from concrete blonde…been listening to them for 29 years too

Hell yeah....just discovered this cover ...Love it! I was lucky enough to see CB twice in AZ.
If Johnette even looks at it, It's going to be Bitchen!!
One of my favourite singers doing a cover of my favourite Oz band. Can't go wrong!
Haven't heard many Oils covers but this is great that grungy sound Johnette adds to it brilliant.

Awesome I watched doco about Midnight Oil last night then I stumbled across this today Johnette is so cool

Love johnette
I've never heard this!!! Thanks for posting. When Johnette/Jim do a cover its always amazing with their flare. Awesome!
like Leonard Cohen's Everybody Knows
Midnight oil needed this. Johnette is more than anything combined
I did not know this existed until just now!!! Where the ? Have I been?!?!?
It’s not spectacular cover, by CB standards, but is is a CB song I’ve never heard before. Thanks for sharing!!
It's not CB without James Mankey
Love this version, it has such an rough edge
I feel the same way that you do about it. Thanks for that. Much appreciated. Cheers!
Yeah baby, amaaaaziiing cover!!

She not only plays bass, but she owns it!
Great cover ... thanks for the post !
Such a great version of this song, full of surprises! Love it!
One of the best singers out there, saw her with Concrete Blond and the Heads.
Amazing!! 💗💗💗
Wow, didn't even know that they did this version. Cool. Pay it back America.
She has to be one of the best leads ever...

GREAT !!!!! I love this cover :))
I've never heard this before... Just different enough to be entertaining. I prefer the original, but this is a very interesting interpretation of the song.
A great Australian band "Midnight Oil" song sung by "Concrete Blonde". Fantastic.
Epic !
Wonderful!

I agree, there version of Everybody Knows is so full of restrained emotion, she makes you feel like she has lived every word she sings.

James Hiney missing out large,,all of Concrete Blondes albums r worth having (a listen)!
@@sandrajovic7735Jovic not a mediocre one in the bunch!
Wow - never knew they covered this. Thought I had heard everything they had out there. 🤣
Same here !
Same. Nothing like a little surprise of awesomeness every once in a while.
So, I just found this. And now I realise I've been living under a rock all this century. I'm a fan of both the Oils and Concrete Blonde. How did it take me this long to find this?
Oh wooooooooooooooooooooooow!

OMFG Thank you so much
Me too, fuck'n awesome, thank you for share!!!
Awesome WOW
CB are better off doing original stuff but this tribute is pretty dam good.
The sample of Music for the Native Americans by Robbie Robertson!
The time has come a fact is a fact it belongs to US LET'S TAKE IT BACK!
Johnette is from CB, Will is not. He was in a band called Rachel Stamp and has worked with Johnette on a bunch of her non-CB related material
Steam in 45 degrees!
Cool
DEMAIS
Never heard this before
Gostaria de achar concrete cantando tears for fears
wow
this band kills classics!
Versão fodarastica
Tops the original? Maybe .... Maaaaybe ....

Nope, love CB, but the original wins here (should be a unanimous decision).
Still love this too!!
@@Bigyawner It's actually been turned to the Mohave desert in this version! 119 degrees is Fahrenheit!

Lots of cool little touches. Interesting interpretation. Does that quiet vocal part really work?
Ehhh... no. The "how do we sleep when our beds are burning" is supposed to boom right out of the speakers.
Personally, I like it. They tried to do something different and for me it works. I get that not everyone will agree, but then, you can always go back and listern to the original.
Very cool. Also, I was the 666th person to like this video. YES! 🤘
J to the K
Not available on Spotify -- Not impressed!
Great song, stupid lyrics, perfect cover by Johnette.
Fucking great, another example where the cover is greater than the insipid one
NOT GOOD ,HACK JOB !!!!!
