Hi!! I just got my dragon yesterday, and I've been really stressed for a while cause I was terrified that I would end up hurting or even killing my dragon, due to my past pet experience, even if those were fish.
But watching these videos and having a much more simple layout of all the things I need, it helped me feel allot better about it all!
So a big, b i g thank you from both me and little Jasper!
ik same! i got your back! i feel confident to! (:
the fish part i can relate....my fav fish was from the aggresive section at PETCO (ik prob shoud have gone to a diff, better place) and somehow, i trained it to jump out of the water and eat food out of my hand but then it died ;--;
I have a friend that named theirs jasper
Don't use sand it PERMANENTLY stains your Beardies paws or claws.I do not recommend. Listen to Taylor she KNOWS what she's talking about.
Okie i wont
Yeah the beardie burrito works
And if they eat it can cause problems.. :(
@@beareragnver7680 Impaction is caused by improper husbandry like incorrect heating, humidity, or supplementation, NEVER USE VITA SAND OR CALCIUM SAND, I would ask that if you use sand use washed playsand that is slica free.
Aren’t the problems more on calcium sand for the eating issues, bird sand is recommended by a lot of the local pet shops in my area. The sand or dirt is good for them to get comfortable and doesn’t hurt or harm their feet.
I'm getting a beardie in a half year and watching videos like this make me super exited :3
Jeske Velthuizen me too
did you get it?
Fillow d’ja get it yet
Same!, except I might get it in 2 months, I just might
Me. To
Hey Guys!! I just made a Snapchat for you so you can see what goes on behind the scenes with Fitz! :) my SNAPCHAT is taylorcraneyt
Taylor Crane can I use a heat rock with a thermostat and what temperature to set it in?
Taylor Crane Do you have instagram Taylor?
Hey I know this is a late question for this video and it's not relevant to the topic of the video. What if your beardie rubs the side of its face when it has skin there. Is it dangerous for them or?
You learned me to be a beardeddragon tamer master😄😄thx!!!!!
I would not recommend a heating rock becuase it could burn your beardies skin :( I do recommend a normal rock under neath the heater tho.
These videos are hellping me alot because i'm going to get a baby beardie and i have already thought of names and i'm SUPER hype for him/her and i'm pretty sure my dragon will live a full and happy life thanks to your tips and facts :) also great vid x3
I'm HOOKED on you videos❤️❤️❤️
Super Weirdo me to
Great beginner's guide Taylor, can definitely help a lot of people getting started!
Bedroom Beardies thank you!! I was hoping this could at least start people off! When's the next video? I miss watching Nipsey with Fitz! :)
Sure thing Taylor, it was excellent! I have off this weekend, so hopefully a video within a day or two :-) I know I've been a little inconsistent lately, but I've been having computer issues :-P My old one (good one) fried a few weeks ago, and the one I'm using now isn't as good, plus, as a cherry on top, I screwed up my editing software when trying to transfer it from the last computer to this one - I'm the furthest thing from techy. It's all fun stuff, but prayerfully will have it all smoothed out shortly. Thank you, and keep cranking out them awesome video's!!
I love these vids, I'm getting a bearded dragon in a few day so this was really helpful
That was so amazing and helpful thank you so much! I have learned more in that one video then I have in a week of research! Thank you!!!! Keep up the good work
This is a great help! I’m going on a trip in a few weeks and intending to get a leopard gecko or beardie when I’m back! I prefer to get a bearded dragon but these vids really help for knowledge
Hey, sand carpets aren't hard to clean at all! I use one for my bearded dragon. All you have to do is take it out of the tank, lay it on the ground outside, and sweep it off with a broom. You can also wash it, but you'll knock all of rocks off. Just be sure if you get one, that you shake it off well outside before putting it in the tank if you have a juvenile to prevent impaction.
Thank you for the tip about the blanket over the eyes. It works.
Australian here, Bearded dragons actually live heaps of different places, which do include rocky areas, but sandy areas are super common too. They actually love digging in sandy soil. They also eat sand intentionally to aid with digestion, just make sure you use fine sand in their tank as it will pass through their digestive tract much more easily.
Also, with food, as they get older, 6-12 months, you want to really limit their intake of any mealworms/superworms etc - they're too rich and regularly cause gout in bearded dragons. (Painful and debilitating joint inflammation.)
Tysm! I’m getting one soon and am making sure to know everything I can before getting one. Thank You for the help and advice🙌🙌🙌
I just got a bearded dragon and these videos really help me!
I'm planning on getting a Beardie for my classroom! Thanks for the video!
I’m Getting a bearded dragon at Christmas Time! Super excited!!!!!!! And this gave me some awesome tips Tysm!
On the sand issue, it is true that it can cause constipation when they eat it, BUT: my beardies absolutely loved digging through the sand, burrowing holes, especially the females when they held eggs. They really enjoyed doing that.
i just got my bearded dragon last night! and you are so helpful!!
I'm about to get a baby beardie. So happy I found you!! You are so helpful
Good video. Night in the desert can be in the 50s. As long as your tank doesn't go below 64 at night he should be ok. For your videos I recommend a wall instead of an open window behind you and don't cut off your forehead. But you are doing a great job and are very informative.
Hi I sleep with my ceiling fan on high setting ... is that going to disrupt my beardies sleep at all? I just got him and I don't want him to be uncomfortable
Jessica. vCard she Funderburkg Nope! He will be fine! :)
Keep up the good work! Also thank you for teaching a lot about bearded dragons. You and your bearded dragon are doing awesome!😇😄😍😃
I don't really recommend the rock carpet.. the rocks come off and the breadi will eat the rocks...
Josh Clinard yes they are made of bread
Thank you Josh. That is helpful to know. Now I will probally not buy that carpet. Lol
I just got a bearded dragon and your videos are so great and I'm learning a lot. Thank you!
i just got my bearded dragon today! im so happy :)
A lot of this is super helpful, the only thing I feel conflicted on is the water bowl. I’ve heard not to keep a water bowl becuase of how hot it is it makes it to humid, and to instead mist the beardie in the morning.
This helps so much thank you I’m getting my beardie sometime this month and doing all the research and you just explained half of all of it right now thanks
i might get a beardie after lockdown and i dont know much about them. and ur videos are telling me what to do and what not to do
so thank you
Thanks for the vid chik. Very informative. I'm getting my first beardy in a few days and I'm pretty nervous about it so thank you so much.
Anyone else binging Taylor?
Thank you I cant stop waching your videos! Once I get enough money my plan is to get one! I'm SOO excited I cant stop talking about it! 🦎
Ps my mom's really annoyed 😋
Thx for the tips! im getting my beardie very soon and im super excited!
I’ve had a bearded dragon for two months now he’s my little baby Frankie he’s three months old and he’s pretty big I have to say and I’m still watching bearded dragon care guides😃
This will definitely help with my beardie experience!
Omg this was so so helpful!! Thank you. 😆☺😊
I am getting a bearded dragon on the 16 of July now I am going to be prepared because I am watching your videos thank you
In the UK there is a really great sub straight called beardie life it is a dirt sand and stoney mixture it is really good you can get it online as well I really recommend it is also very natural
only issue is the water it evaporates and gets too humid for them so spray there heads with spray bottles full of water and a little of there bodies same with on top of the greens :)
Hey taylor me and my daughter are huge fans and love your videos ...so my daughter wanted a bearded dragon and I told her they are a lot of responsibility and require a lot of attention and that if she did her home work we would get her one...well she researched for an entire year and has watched every video you have put out ...so ir was finally time for me to hold up to my end of the deal ,we have a Siberian husky and like to keep the house cold for her so we decided to turn one of the walk in closets into the beardie room where we can close the door to keep it warm she has a 40 gallon tank and on the opposite side of the tank and shelving she has cushioned bench seat so she can sit in there and hang out with the beardie. My question is what is the ideal lighting and heat solution ....I purchased a herpstat2 lighting/heat controller I would love to hear any input you have on:
Bulb positioning
Bulb type/wattage
Ideal temps
Also settings on the herpstat2 it has sunrise and sunset features and it can gradually bring the lights on and off to mimic sunrise and sunset it also has a dimmable heating output so it never turns the heat element on full blast and it has a night drop feature where you can set a night time temperature ...
P.s. Fitz is definitely the best looking and happiest beardie we have seen keep up the good work and keep the videos coming
jessie adams Awesome! I’m so glad I could help! I think the walk-in closet is a great idea especially if you keep the house at colder temperatures. In regards to bulb positioning, your best bet is to get a tube UVB light so it can cover the whole tank, it’s known to be more effective! Then, with the heat bulb, place it on any side of the tank you’d like so that can be your beardies basking area! With the bulb type and wattage, go with the tube uvb and regular bulb/coil for heat. Wattage is completely up to you depending on how close the beardie is to the bulb, I usually use a 75 or 100 watt. And lastly ideal temps would be around 90-100 degrees for a basking spot and about 80s for the cooler side! :)
@@TaylorCrane thanks for the quick reply, we got a baby beardie a week ago and we noticed in the last 2 days he has been having some eye crust in one eye and sometimes having trouble opening it so we started researching and they said it was probably a lighting issue so we were worried and wanted the best for our new family member that's why we messaged you bc we trust any advice that comes from you and feel you are the best source of information for our little guy
Lol My daughter is 11yrs old and so excited right now after I told her taylor replied to our message ..she really looks up to you and wants to be some form of animal care provider when she grows up
I could really use some advice. I just got my baby beardie today, and I’m really concerned about hydration. What is the best way to get him to drink water? He’s still super small and young, so I want to make sure I do it right. I’m so stressed!
Im gettn one in a month cant wait!!!
My bdays in a week and I'm thinking of getting one
Tysm I just got my beardie and I really learned other things I didn't know from this video
This was very helpful!❤️
Love the vid! One thing tho kale isn't great for them to have as a main diet but more of a treat. ❤❤❤Fitz is adorable btww^O^^O^
This was very very helpful thank you so much 😊
can you use Distilled White vinegar 5% acidity for cleaning your bearded dragons tank?
I just got my bearded dragon on the 11th. I have everything that you need to take care of him. The only thing that i've heard that you need is a background for your tank. My bearded dragon is around 7" long, including his tail length. Last night, I went to bed around 10:00 and my bearded dragon was up against the side of the glass tank. I woke up at around 12:30 to check on him, and he was still there. I moved him onto his basking spot (under his night lamp), where he usually sleeps, and I went back to bed. In the morning around 9:30, he was in the opposite corner, looking out of the glass tank. Should I get a background so he feels more at home?
Emily Zeiler It's up to you what you wanna do! You don't NEED a background but many people have them for aesthetic reasons or possibly for the reason to make the beardie feel at home! It's totally up to you! If you want him to have a background I say go for it! :) He also probably just wants to look around your room aswell! I know Fitz loves to get real close up to the glass and sleep or even look out and watch what I'm doing! :)
Taylor Crane Okay. Thank you!
For insects can you use only crickets for an adult if you don’t want to feed other kinds?
Hi I’m about to get a dragon of my own and I watched your videos to get info on them and I just want to say thank you
Thank you! Very informative :)
So like i just got one and i heard that i should have the uvb and the heat lamp both on?
Supreme 13 don’t know how relevant this is a month later but yes! Uvb needs to be on during the day (for about 12 hours) and so does a heat lamp (that keeps the hot side of the tank around 85-95 degrees). All lights should be turned off at night, they do not need heat at night as long as your home doesn’t like get crazy cold like 50 degrees.
Nayana Alyanie thanks !
Sooo I have two light and there both hot? One is white and not as hot, than i Have a red one ( the light bulb colors) and it’s hotter so do u know wat that means? I’m getting a bearded dragon in 3 day’s! I LOVE UR CHANNEL!!!
Can you make a video about having Breaded Dragon in colder places like Colorado maybe or should I just get a heat lamp and I'm good cause during the winter my room can get bellow the 30's?
Why are u not using a reptisun 10.0 linear tube for uvb
40 gallon is fine, but if you want a active and exiting to watch bearded dragon while in his terrarium then get at least a 75 gallon, if you want to spoil your dragon then the most space you should give them is 120 gallons.
I want to clarify that a 40 gallon is ok, but the more space the better and if you give your dragon more space they can live up to 20 years if given enough exercise and space and the right diet (20 years is very uncommon and usually they only live for 8-12 years)
i would use sand but my lizard is really dumb and misses his food all the time haha he is a lawsons beardie and he is 10 weeks old and i have been watching your videos and i love them :)
Your video provided everything I needed to know for when I get a bearded dragon. But what would you say would be the age that a bearded dragon will start to eat more veggies than insects?
You give me all the information I need
It’s best to have a baby in a 40 gal long and an adult in a 55-75 gal long
Just to let u know
I have my baby in a 20 gal now, and hes just fine. however he is getting older now, so i am getting the materials ready to construct his new enclosure.
I have mine in a 36gal and it’s a baby
Mines is a baby and lives in a 65 gallon cause i got it for free lol
This video is great it gives me facts about my new bearded dragon
Hey do you know if you can use a 40 gallon tank for a baby dragon so when they get older you dont have to buy a new one
Is there such thing as a tank TOO BIG for a bearded dragon? I have a really big tank and I’m worried it might overwhelm the animal.
I bought a kit recently and it came with a red bulb for night im guessing . Some things i was researching said don't use a red night bulb because it irritates them. Do you have any input?
I have a question, if it’s warm outside, would you be able to take them into the sun with you (obviously in supervision like an outdoor pen or harness)?
Could u put a baby dragon in a 40 gallon????
Sarah Clarke yup :)
I’m sure you could.... think about it, they live normally in a environment a bit bigger than that lol
Yes
Yup it's also a money saver too as they get bigger and need a 40 Gal tank so you don't have to buy a 20 Gal
Sure
For the substrate could I use that fake grass type mat people use in their yards
i heard misting their greens is a good way to keep them hydrated not sure if that’s completely accurate but logically it seems accurate 🤷🏻♀️😂
Thank you this was so helpful
I got my dragon one day ago and i am getting a different sub strait soon because I got sand and I knew from the start it was unsafe so I will be replacing it in about one or two days
I know I'm late but right now I have a 10 gallon tank because my bearded dragon is a baby what age should I upgrade the size at?
I LOVE YOUR BEARDED DRAGON HE IS SOOOO CUTE💜 and I'm getting one in 3 months!!!!!!
hi Taylor I would love to see you do a what I feed my animals please
I recently rescued a bearded dragon. It was obviously not properly cared for. Her back legs seem to be completely paralyzed as well as her tail (it seems broken to one side at the base) i do not know sex nor age and it seems very thin/flat. What if anything can you recommend to help? This breaks my heart plz help.
Can you use artificial grass for the ground??
I'm getting a bearded dragon today as it's my birthday tomorrow and I'm so so so excited
Georgia Warriner Happy Birthday!! :)
Make a video on cool cheap things to get it make for your beardie
I just got a baby bearded dragon a few days ago, he'd eat 4 crickets in a day, but today he's only ate one, and we won't eat any of the fruits or vegetables or minnows worms i gave him, idk what to do?
Thank u so much😘
So,my bedroom is downstairs and it gets very cold!! Would you recommend me to get a little heater for my room just to keep it a little warmer?
Gwenyth Lindholm It depends! If your bearded dragons tank is still able to regulate normal temperatures for a bearded dragon from the heating lamps, then you should be fine! Unless it is EXTREMELY cold, then I wouldn't worry! But, it's all up to you! If you want to play it safe then you can, but just a warning, the heat lamps from the bearded dragons tank sometimes heats up the room for you! Lol it happens to me :)
Taylor Crane Lol. Thanks!
I'm just here for the dragon haha
My Dog's name was Fitz...He died...
Thats sad.. but its in a better place now. :)
thank u so much for this vid it rlly helped me get a bearded dragon i have wanted one scinse 2009 when i was four and f it wearnt for u i wouldnt have one so thank u!!!!!!!!
Hey, how r u. Question: how do you give your bearded dragon liquid medicine. Help me, please.
I do not know that answer. Though I would recommend looking it up. And all the information you need to know.
Do you turn the UV light off at night?
Thank you for All your info. LOVE all the information. You are sooo stinkin' cute. TY 4 all u do n share. :)
Is it alright if I get a bearded dragon and put it in a 40 gallon tank
I’m getting a 150 gallon tank
Would exoterra desert rock substrate be ok for beardies it says specialised for bear dies
Do you have any experience with or opinions on Beardie life? It's a desert substrate made to mimic their natural environment, and it apparently contains clay and rock and the like. I am considering getting a beardie, and would like to know if it is worth it? Thank you!
Well thank you for letting me know all of this and I was looking forward to getting one but my parents said no and got rude about it I wish I could have one of Those cute cuddly friends but it’s just how my parents work🥺
Your videos are so helpful
What about having a heated floor for them
Great job Taylor!
Hey Taylor I know this is a old vid but I have a question so my beardie is a year old and I don’t think she hasn’t shedding in a while like in the range of 1-4 or 1-5 months I’m kind of worry any suggestions?
I LOVE bearded dragons
Hi! Do you know what I should do if a beardie has partial paralysis in they’re legs?
I’m taking in a beardie soon that has that, I will be taking him to the vet but I would like to know more tips and such if you have any?
He is 3 and only 12 inches ):
thanks you so much im was going to buy one so thanks
At my local pet store they have many bearded dragons in the same tank, so what if you got 2 of them. Would it be fine to have them in the same tank?
jasmine Pope I don’t know if you already have the answer to this but I’ll put it here anyway. It’s not recommended to have 2 ( or more ) bearded dragons in the same tank. You can totally have two but not in the same tank. They can actually hurt or kill each other in one tank.
Tbh you could just turn down the heat a notch for night time by like 10-20 degrees(say from 100 degrees to 80)
This is also what I’ll probably do as well, since I live in the UK and it gets to about 2 degrees Celsius at night(outside) inside its about 24 Celsius but I have my windows opened and a fan on EVEN IN WINTER 😂 summer night time stays above 25 Celsius so I’ll be fine then to turn the lamp off.
