Broadway musical icon, Mary Martin, was a Weatherford product, so was her son, television actor, Larry Hagman, who spent his boyhood there with his father. (Ms. Martin debuted the lead female roles in "South Pacific,," "The Sound of Music," "Oklahoma," and a host of other musicals. Larry Hagman played in multiple television shows, but was most well known as "J.R. Ewing" in "Dallas.") Late in her life, a newspaper reporter asked Ms. Martin what it was like to have a son who'd become an icon. Ms. Martin smiled sweetly and replied, "Young man, I am an icon. My son is a star."

Wow that was the biggest orphanage that the ever seen! My daddy when he was a little boy till he was a teenager was raised in an orphanage in North Carolina. That’s where I’m from but now live in Kentucky.. My daddy to have lived in one he learned so much about the Bible and so much more, in fact his Orphanage Mother wanted to adopt him and my Aunt.. My grandma came too get them before that could of happened! I did get the honor of seeing the orphanage and meeting his orphanage Mother when I was a little girl. The orphanage is still there. That was in the 50’s when my Daddy was there... Tell ya they instilled a lot of good wholesome values in him. He could have turned out on the bad side of things but he didn’t because he wanted more for his life and he wanted a wife and family and he got just that and more. He was truly happy to see his orphanage Mother so that he could tell her what he made of himself... He was Art Director of two different movie 🎥 companies and he was very successful at what he got too do for a living and that was a dream come true, and I’m so happy he got too do what his true passion was and that was Art of any and everything!!!

I loved the murals and quaintness of the town! Funny mural story to share. In Jonesboro, Arkansas there’s an old mural on a building downtown for Bull Durham tobacco. When the mural was uncovered and restored locals decided to add a fence so a rail would cover the bull’s 😮😂 private parts which were visibly painted in the original mural. 😂

Omg, I just love how nicely they donate the milk like that.
I live in Tyler, and I buy groceries at my local smaller chain,
local to this area only. I used to buy a lot of bagged salads
with the dressing, they are expensive but I would buy them
marked half off, because they were about to expire but still
good. Then the store marked the discount down, so they
were not as inexpensive to buy more than one. So, sadly
I just do not buy them anymore. I have noticed that they
do not seem to promote any sort of produce sales now,
which surprises me because produce has to sell fast,
    to stay fresh.

I enjoy your dumpster diving channel. So far I also really like this channel. I know there are plenty of interesting small towns throughout Texas. Just here in North Texas alone there are plenty! But I hope that sometime you will branch out into other parts of Texas. I've done just a little research into some Texas towns for various historic purposes and I've always found such great stories about them - how they got their name, why they were founded, and all sorts of events. I'll tease you with some questions just about Ft. Worth (which I know of course is not a small town): Why is it called nicknamed Panther City? What gallant gesture did the soldiers perform for the local young ladies at a dance held when it really was an Army fort? How did Fort Worth become the rail head for shipping cattle instead of Dallas? And I am sure that every place in Texas has its own interesting stories! I enjoyed your trip to Weatherford. I hope you will got back to get peaches in July!

It must've been the last rain we got here when you visited. It's not rained in a while.

Thank you for taking us along on your adventure to Weatherford, Texas!!! It's neat seeing an old town and all its charm. I loved the historical homes, and that orphanage was massive! Will you be going back for peaches in July?

Thank you, really glad you enjoyed coming along! We might as well go back in July... it's not too far and now we ~need~ to try a peach from the Peach Capital of Texas!!
