My 2 cents: it's not about "reducing stress", it's about changing your perception of what "stress" is. More like reorienting our relationship to the stressful life situations we all experience. As a post menopausal woman, I can say with confidence that most women care WAY to much what other people think of them. With awareness and mindfulness we can change our thoughts and let go of trying to live up to expectations (including our own). Negative self talk is a HUGE source of emotional stress which negatively impacts our hormones. Thanks Shawn for another good convo.🙏
I learn the science from Shawn and I learn the lifestyle from Chalene. My brain can hardly stand the two of y’all together. These episodes should he called “GOAT Chats.”
Amen!!! I felt like I was watching myself as a 47 year old woman who had struggled with body dysmorphia and body issues for years! I’m learning to love myself, inside and outside and letting go of trying to be so perfect all the time ❤
Love hearing from Chalene! I worked out to Turbo Jam. I can't do high impact anymore. I'm 53 now and I get most my cardio from walking and lifting weights.
Chalene!!! I hadn’t put it in words yet, but you just did around minute 7. Becoming obsessed with being healthy and causing a different type of stress. I’m coming out of that season and mentally I feel so much better - still being patient for my body to continue to heal and feel better. Thank you!!
Passeggiata is the word for the Italian walk around, and is normally before supper. They tend to also get a drink, catch up with neighbours etc. They also walk after their meal, often to get a gelato because Italians don’t tend to drink very much, so they prefer not to go out for drinks like the UK/US populations would. Great chat as ever from Chalene!
L❤VE Charlene, you as well Shawn. Spoke to my soul and felt like I was privy to this private convo amongst friends. Charlene, you’re so real and such an important voice for women, Shawn, you’re so kind and compassionate, enjoyed every second, thank you!!! 🔥😍💪
I'm commenting as I listen. I've been told, or is been said about me behind my back, that I think I'm better than everyone else and I think I'm all that! Lol, I'm 51yo!!! I told my husband, if others don't think they are all that, or don't think highly of themselves, then I feel sorry for them! We should ALL think we are all that, that we are amazing, worthy, etc. I know I'm a good person, and I've been thru hell, back, thru hell again, and I've succeeded and grown and I'm still alive, so YES. I DO absolutely 💯 think I am all that! 😉😉
I think you're wrong. Everyone's body should be able to adapt to IF, because it's human nature to go long periods with and without food. We're just spoiled now, and obesesity is the obvious marker that defines our spoiledness.
@Mdjagg you are a very linear thinker and that's not how every individuals DNA works. There are some , especially women, that IF can act as a stressor. People that have Adrenal fatigue, Reactive Hypoglycemia, heart and high blood pressure, etc. don't do well with IF.
I am this PERSON! I always say they are just ignorant and uneducated! UGH, thank you! I need to let this all go! I am a biohacker! I am almost 59 still doing crossfit, rehabbing all the time and injured!
As you may remember (or not), I am the lone caretaker for my bride who began showing signs of early onset Alzheimers/Dementia at Charlene's age. Western medicine failed to figure it out for 4 more years. Anyway, it's not often that I stop a podcast to inscribe some illuminating truth on our bedroom wall but it's happened thrice with you. Your interviews with Danica Patrick, Mary Shenouda, and this one. "You can not rise above your preception of yourself!" On my wall my man, on my wall! Thank you.
I think for me I expected to rock out getting older. Then I experienced some set backs and it took a while to to get out of what it did to me but I have a renewed mindset and want to be the poster child for the 50 year old woman who has overcome! ❤🔥
Never get me on HRT I don’t care the risk of Cancer from it I’d rather live the life I’m given and work with It . I’ve trained for over 30 years and being a pro athlete. I lift more than I did as a athlete . And I rest when my body says not today you don’t ! I’m lucky not to have children so if I slept bad ! I’m laying in bed till I feel rested. My food o crave sugar but I’ve craved that junk for years due to not understanding nutrition when I was competing coached then just said eat so we did ans lots of carbs was the choice not protein. I stay away from negative people or anyone controlling or anybody who isn’t on my team and trying to bring me down. I do the things I love and keep my interactions with people light and engaging only when I’m wanting too meaning when I’m out I’m fun and the life of the party ! When I’m home in chilled and at peace . I pace my life as I feel and not according to outside demands . Yea it sounds selfish and it is to a point but by who’s standards . I’ve learnt no one’s there for you when life’s crap infact no one cares until your living the life and they all wanna know your secret.
This episode really spoke to me, and I wasn't expecting it to. 😅 Thank you for interviewing Chalene, and Chalene...thank you for what you had to say. It resonated with me, and your words made an impact. 💗
the verbal and physical abuse we do to ourselves is detrimental

What a treat!! Thank you Shawn for much needed topic, I really enjoyed it!
Intermittent fasting is the key to aging well and staying fit as we age. Most older people eat too often.
Please keep in mind IF is not for everyone.
