I remember those days. I even helped out a bit to get those books out. That book was the top book at the time, was a pleasure to meet Kevin sometime after, I even got into a NY screening of Dogma. (Not thru Kevin though.) Always loved DD, was happy to see him shine again.
I’m just gonna say right now. Daredevil. Is. The. Best. It is my favourite TV show ever. It’s the closest thing to perfect and it’s borderline criminal that this show got cancelled, similarly to something like Young Justice.
Been hooked to your videos since you guys interviewed John Byrne. I feel like he’s such a forgotten icon. Keep covering awesome people doing awesome stuff.
mudbeast21 we can only hope that in two years Disney could continue Daredevil. Rebooting the character wouldn’t be any good because his show is an MCU show
The only Kevin Smith story I ever read was the Guardian Devil story with Joe Quesada and it was great. Copped it as a trade back in high school. Until that story I honestly thought Mysterio was just a push over.
The movie from ‘03 distorted my image of the character not for the better but Guardian Devil got me back into him. I know the book was before the movie but I grew up in a town where the nearest comic book store was 80 miles away. Then Bendis’ run kept me buying more issues, digital or otherwise. Comics are limitless when compared to movies or TV shows. Some exceptions are the Batman and X-Men series from the 90s and the Netflix DD and Punisher shows.
Daredevil: Target as well, and took ages to finish Spider-man/ Black Cat (which was awful). Then there were a couple of Batman books he started and didn't finish, and his Green Arrow run was lazy. Smith gave into weed, and thought he was the writing version of Snoop Dog. Nowadays...he's not the writer he was...
Kevin Smith blows hot and cold with his comics. Good: Daredevil and Green Arrow. Bad. Black Cat. Awful: Batman: The Widening Gyre, Daredevil: The Target. I wish he'd do more though.
I know it’s not a considered good by a lot of fans but I loved the Ann Nocenti run. I think the fact it followed Frank Miller’s classic is what has lead to so much dislike for Nocenti’s Daredevil.
This video says Kevin's Daredevil run inspired season three. Of course I stopped watching Daredevil after season 2 so I have no idea how much. Kevin's story can't be as bad as you make it out to be, if that was the case.
I loved Smith's Guardian Devil in high school. Whedon's X-Men was terrible and I never want to see his Buffy Scooby Gang style with the children of the atom again.
literally the only iconic thing to come out of this story was Karen Page's death. everything else was wack--Daredevil getting so messed up that he throws a baby off a building, Karen got AIDS, etc Honestly, Kevin Smith isn't that great of a comics writer. If Guardian Devil doesn't convince you, maybe try his work on Batman or even his Hit-Girl series out right now. But yes, it's STILL an important work in both Marvel's and Daredevil's history

Sorry to bother I always wanted to tell write a comic any quick pointers how to get started.

Same, and Spectacular Spider-Man.
a certain guy made a Cameo this week in Hawkeye...
@@yogurt_junior Daredevil fans been eating GREAT this week 🤣
This made me wanna read Born Again again, and watch the show again...
The best of the Netflix shows hands down!
@@creatorownedcomics6090 the best superhero show ever. FACT.
I love the idea of using Mysterio's status as a hack to re-use iconic story concepts
This is such a good channel....
YES

Keep covering awesome people doing awesome stuff.
Syfy wire at it again with the phenomenal coverage!
That was awesome!!! I love that story. It was the first Daredevil comic I ever read.
Cesar Perez There is an amount humility in Kevin’s explanation. That Daredevil story was great!!!
Awesome! Love Kevin Smith forever! 🔮🤙🏼
Kevin Smiths Guardian Devil is one of my all time favorite Daredevil stories.
I know Kevin is busy but I wish he’d binge Daredevil season 3 and cover it on Fatman Beyond
Jimmy P FTW! Kevin's such a great storyteller
Shame on Netflix for Cancelling DAREDEVIL ! Charlie Cox is Matt Murdock don't wont to see the character rebooted as some one else !
mudbeast21 we can only hope that in two years Disney could continue Daredevil. Rebooting the character wouldn’t be any good because his show is an MCU show
Quesada was an amazing Daredevil artist.
Guardian Devil is still my favorite Daredevil story and one of the best comic stories I have ever read.
Daredevil deserves an MCU movie
Omega Styles the most we got was his MCU show. And Disney can’t use him or any of the MCU Netflix heroes for the next two years
Tv is better than movies.
13 hours vs 2 hours.
Pg-13 vs R
so you want to see him turned into a comedian?
Please keep doing these interviews, loving these.
One of the best daredevil stories I’ve ever read
Wow. Never new Kevin Smith wrote a comic book about Daredevil. Gotta read that sometime.
Yeah he's written several comicbooks
Kevin Smith’s DD got me into him. He is now in my top 3 with Punisher & Capt. America
What a great video!
Giving Kevin Smith a bit too much credit saying he practically saved DareDevil.
Hey great video. Really loved this inside look at one of my favorite DD stories. Thanks so much!
Such an amazing interview.
First thing I thought watching this video was I hope SyFy have picked up Daredevil
"Aww... He's got cry eyes" - Kevin Smith
7:44 RIP John Singleton

Kevin Smith 💕

Shame he didn’t finish Daredevil: Bullseye

Was gonna type that
uh, no it isn't.
He said he wasn’t proud of it
Thanks for this!
Who’s here after looking at the stuff announced at d23 for “Daredevil: BORN AGAIN”
is that paul dini at 7:49
Why yes it is. The late John Singleton is in that pic too.
Caterpillow-pants I was going to mention Singleton as well. RIP.
Kevin Smith technically started the Marvel Movies!
Guardian Devil had a fatal flaw. The villain successfully lies to Daredevil early in the story. That's impossible.
Not necessarily, if he gets no excitement from lying his heart rate might not increase enough to tell.
Ever heard of a lie detector test?
They can be falsified.
Go fuck yourself and your "fatal flaw".
I have 5 Daredevil comics and Bullseye doesn't show up in any of them.
Kevin Smith blows hot and cold with his comics. Good: Daredevil and Green Arrow. Bad. Black Cat. Awful: Batman: The Widening Gyre, Daredevil: The Target. I wish he'd do more though.
Class Act!
Kevin lied, he watched "GOLDEN CHILD" starring Eddie Murphy for that premise lol
There's a movie called 🐶ma
Daredevil in the comics is still not terribly popular, the issues from the 60s are dirt cheap compared to many other Marvel titles.
Yeah; Daredevil comic fans are more niche. Similarly, Dr. Strange’s comics have a niche fanbase as well
Can't stand his films but enjoy most of his comic stories.
🙈🙊🙉 "anime comic devil. hellboy" 😈 ¿comic marvel. ✝ devil. 👁 ojos. 🙈 👨🏻🦯 daredevil. kung fu? 😈 2021.
At one point I enjoyed smith so much. He really did become a shill and grifter. His move to the far left made him very unlikable
I know it’s not a considered good by a lot of fans but I loved the Ann Nocenti run. I think the fact it followed Frank Miller’s classic is what has lead to so much dislike for Nocenti’s Daredevil.
This book was so bad, but without it, we might not have gotten Bendis’ and Brubaker’s takes, or even Daredevil Season 3
This video says Kevin's Daredevil run inspired season three. Of course I stopped watching Daredevil after season 2 so I have no idea how much.
