    I love how you showed your mistakes and then how to fix them. It's extremely helpful to know that not everyone is an expert at first. The dresser came out awesome! Thank you for the video. A definite inspiration

    I have been restoring and painting furniture for over 40 years. I look at some of the pieces I did back then and cringe! I think you did really well for not having much experience. Everyone has to learn and the only way to do that is by practicing and gaining experience. I still learn new things by watching your videos.

    This is the best idea for a video, Amy! Thanks for sharing some of your former mistakes. None of us start out knowing everything. This job comes with learning and, now as a pro, you brought this piece back to life! Love it! And congrats on 60k 🥳💃🥳💃

    Oh I love how this turned out! So chic and elegant. I think back to my early pieces and I’m kinda embarrassed that I sold them with many imperfections - just things I didn’t know at the time. I appreciate you showing these early mistakes. Other than the feet, I’ve done them all.

    I find that Wise Owl furniture salve works great on drawer slides, especially wood on wood. Smells amazing too!!

    It was nice to see you remake your own piece. One thing that caught my eye - you checked the drawer glides inside the dresser for issues, and shaved them down, but you didn't address the cause of the damage. You only gave us a quick peek of the one metal drawer slide, but it looked bent, which would cause that kind of damage. If you don't fix that, it's just going to keep damaging the wooden slide. In the battle of wood vs metal, the metal will win.
    I definitely liked the look of the remake better than the original. The black feels much more timeless.

    • @FlipItFurniture
      @FlipItFurniture  2 года назад

      Hi Kira! I explained that the width on the wooden glide went from wide to narrow about 3/4 the way down and that’s why they were sticking. Since I shaved it down the rest of the way they should be fine.
      I agree though metal and wood don’t mix in the first place.

    The general rule for sanding is to only go up by no more than half the current number. So if you start at 100 grit, next one s/b no higher than 150, next one no higher than 220 etc.. of course can use lower grits, but no higher to optimise sanding with less swirls. You should not put pressure on any sander (which of course we all do) but it can cause a lot of problems such as dips and bad swirls. Great video for newbies.

    That piece turned out so lovely. I love the black, it always looks very classy. I also loved what you did to the bottom. It’s more modern looking. Considering what new furniture costs today, you can get a new look for a fraction of the cost, it’s a win, win. I love how you show that making mistakes is part of life, fix it and move on. You seem like a very sweet person. Thanks for sharing.

    Use a piece of cardboard for your initial setup on your sprayer super quick and easy to adjust spray pattern without risking a mess up on the actual piece of furniture

    I have that same paint sprayer, and it says in the instructions to us a practice board for each piece, to find what works for you. I find it goes really fast, and easy, but it's a different experience for everyone. I haven't ever had my paint dry as I'm painting, though. Maybe it's the paint you used. I've only used Fusion Mineral Paint so far, but am wanting to try the Dixie Belle, as well as, Wise Owl. There's so many to choose from! The RUclips channel, Born in a Barn Boutique, uses the HomeRight paint sprayer in her videos, and she has some great tips!

    You can reuse plastic, even the first time. Insides of cereal boxes liners, bread bags, whatever. Just make sure it's clean - a quick dunk in dishwater, then rinse, and let dry. There's no need to contribute to all the horrid plastic already in the world.
