I fully agree about private spaces for breastfeeding! Also, it's not just about the parent's comfort/privacy! My baby gets so distracted in public with new sights and sounds everywhere he looks, he simply won't eat unless I can take him to a quiet room where there's less stimulation.

Something that impressed me about Japan was seeing in a mall a restroom specifically for small children with small sinks and toilets, next to a room specifically for changing diapers complete with diaper disposal and sinks and private tables with straps, next to a room with multiple lounge areas for feeding babies with sinks, a microwave, comfy chairs, and bags of formula. It was sooooo nice!! And clean! Come on North America

I realized this when my son was little too, there is a marked lack of support but also just open judgment of moms in our society. I would get mom-shamed for taking my son to the store (pre-Covid, mind you) because he “looked small”, I was mom-shamed for having him in a hat, for not having him in a hat, for baby-wearing, for feeding him home-made baby food, for breast-feeding/pumping as a working mom, for not having socks on his feet on a hot day. People feel they can hold any opinion and express it to just about anyone when it’s not actually their business. It’s super unfortunate.

That pisses me off sooo much. 1. It’s no one’s business. i’m worried about this because i know some people in my family would totally do this😒 All of my friends are currently preggo or have little ones and every single one is “when are you guys having kids?” “you guys have to have babies now!” and me and my S.O. just aren’t ready yet. It makes me feel behind and rushed to build a house, and marriage and aghhhhhh no one tells you about your 20’s crisis. I feel so lost in my career and i didn’t mean to dump but yeah😢😂

    • @amandaleebee98
      @amandaleebee98 Год назад +2

What bothers me is this makes a bunch of moms defensive about anything you say as if you’re trying to say they’re not doing enough or as if you’re trying to be judgmental when your not. It’s like right when I got pregnant and I was just excited about having my baby some lady just assumed I’m telling her she’s not doing enough for her kids when I said “what do you do with your kids” and I was just asking for examples bc they were all criticizing me for wanting to teach my child dance. Acting like I’m a pushy mom. I never said I was going to force my kid to dance forever but it is good for their development. So she just flipped the script on me probably because there are alot of judgmental moms. I just really didn’t know what kind of activities she specifically likes like gardening, cooking etc. it was a genuine question . Now I just want to hide and make no friends

It’s so so unfortunate - where there needs to be understanding and open dialogue there’s usually judgement and shame specifically from other women or moms which is the saddest part to me. I watched a tiktok explaining to child free people that get annoyed and frustrated with kids in public, and basically it explains that children are a vulnerable group of people that it’s being normalized to discriminate against and how backwards that is. We were all children at one point, and they’re learning and growing everyday just like adults. It’s one of the reasons I LOVE living in Utah - everyone has kids here and there is so many accommodations and spaces for children. 🥹 I have a son the same age as Easton named Eli 🩵 Thanks for advocating for our tiny humans.

I have decided to be childfree and am in my 30s. I think it's important to be compassionate for the care givers/children when your in public spaces - I never get frustrated and annoyed at children in planes, grocery stores, etc. I do think it's important to have spaces and situations for child free people such as resorts, or later hours at certain restaurants. I also think there needs to be more places for breastfeeding/changing. I think there's a reality where both groups can be happy, supported and understanding.

I support my child-free friends, but so many of them can't handle the fact that there will be children in public spaces. If they get visibly annoyed then they are acting no better than the baby (who can't regulate/understand their emotions!) People forget that in order for children to be "well-behaved" in public, they need to grow accustomed to it and learn how to be!

  • @earthwitchnatasha

I love the stories you shared about your experiences as a mom. I do agree so much for more accessibility for parents with feeding and changing. As for the restaurant couple, I normally can't handle babies making noises in public because it over stimulates me, but I never try to give off the energy of hating the person who has the baby/child. If anything I smile or try to say hello to them to make myself calm down as well. I'm sorry people are rude and unhappy within themselves girl

I can understand being a bit annoyed if a baby is crying and screaming their head for 10+ mins while the parent does nothing but to be mad about a happy baby?!?!!! Who hurt them, what???? I personally am choosing to be child free right now but like it’s so precious to see a happy baby🥹
Also; growing up the outlets I went to all the time had a ‘feeding room’ in the women’s restroom and I thought that was so cool but was disappointed to find out that’s not a norm🙃

Lovvvve the vlog ❤ i know it sucks but i have to say it.... If you carry your baby away from your body, so NOT belly on belly - its not good for the spine and the testicle 😅 i work in the health field and its one of the biiiigges misconceptions...

I totally hear as a new mom not having a change table or place to nurse. Yorkdale says they have 4 nursing rooms though. Also you totally shouldn't have to nurse in a washroom. That's not hygienic. I often end up nursing in my car.

Breastfeeding: the more we see it, the less people notice.
I intentionally do not cover up to Bf in public because I want to normalize the biologically normal way of feeding a human baby. That’s what works for me. Change rooms in clothing stores are a great alternative to bathrooms if you want more privacy (or if baby needs less distractions).

You are doing wonderful, powerful things and I honour it and totally agree 🙌🏼 I wish I felt the same level of confidence, but my stomach turns and I feel protective over such a special bond whenever I get a creepish stare.

@@KalynNicholson Once baby is latched no one can really see much (and at his age he probably latches in a second lol). I found at the start it helped to nurse in public with other people who were also nursing their kids. Or if you see someone else nursing they probably won’t mind if you ask to sit next to them and also nurse your baby. Strength in numbers 💪
I honestly have never noticed any creepy stares. And if they are looking - Let them stare. It’s a human body. I’m feeding my babe🤷‍♀️. Usually people avoid all contact because they are much more uncomfortable with it than I am LOL. It’s also legal in Ontario for everyone including women to be topless.
Nurse on mama. You can get to that place of confidence if you want to 😊😊

    Hey, Kalyn!
Just here to let you know that this kind of carrier is not Okey for baby's legs and joints, back and nervous system. Telling you as a doctor and a mom with a 6 months old. Baby must be facing you and legs shoud be in a "m" position. Kisses!❤

Everyone will say that breastfeeding is so natural blablabla but indeed not many places or support for it... Mainly because of patriarchy, if public places, malls, etc were thought by women, it would be completely different!

I think concerning to Easten you do everything right. Not showing him is totally fine. Yes, of course, he's a big part of your life and when he appears it's fine but this is not a channel about or for him.
Every country is about having children BUT NOT in this restaurant, NOT in this shop .... You can't say this but don't accept it till down to the basics 🙄

Actually no, I don’t remember that, and I didn’t host very many giveaways so that seems sus but I still have access to all of my emails from the last 10 years!! I’d be happy to look up your name or email chain to make sure that didn’t happen or to figure when/how it did ♥️
If you don’t feel comfortable typing out here you can DM it to me on Instagram. I’ll keep an eye out for it the next few days.

it's sad when i get excited to see a breastfeeding room or sensory safe rooms in public. like?? that should be NORMAL. not a rarity.

You should bring one of those folding chairs in the bottom of the stroller so you can comfortably breastfeed in a washroom.
