Philip Shea being unbothered and so done with everyone's (mostly Lukas') shit for the entire show

I think I have a knack for depressed and sad kid who goes through a lot just to get a bit of happy ending in the end...
But yeah. I have been rewatching the show, and Philip's attitude toward life really got some giggles out of me.

This show showcased characters that you don’t see often, like strong women in law enforcement, a murder mystery with a twist and a marvelously acted teen romance. Great acting all around. I think there was no season two, that many wanted to see because of the beloved characters, because the story was finished.

The real reason there wasn’t a season two is because there wasn’t enough views to renew the show. So they just canceled it. But because the show was written good enough, it didn’t entirely need a Season Two

No, that's far from the real reason. The truth of the matter is that the corporate [network] didn't want to: 1) spend more money on a gay boys' story ..... and .... 2) didn't want to continue a gay story even knowing there are fans out there wanting more.
It's the very same mentality that there were only 3 seasons of both: _Young Royals_ and _Heartstopper._
What these corporations can't handle is that these teen gay stories can generate even more of a "fandom" than the typical hetero ones and they're afraid to admit that. It's this whole religious/corporate/homophobic mentality plus add in their $$$ controlling factor.

But you also have to think- the kid is TERRIFIED of being outed and had just witnessed a triple homicide. He has good moments like when he gives Philip the camera, breaking up with Rose, kissing Philip in public, cuddling in the barn. People like Lukas are sadly very real because of internalized homophobia, so I think it's important a character like him exists.

Philip deserves so much better. Lucas is an asshole and he's too violent for his own good.
Sure, internalized homophobia and all but that doesn't give him an excuse to hit Philip and treat him so poorly. Philip gives him so much leeway. He even gives Lukas an out which he doesnt take. Instead he gets together with someone else and shoves that in Philip's face.
Lukas needs to stop throwing Philip around like some rag doll. He also insults Philip, his living situation and even makes Philip to take blame for his bad decisions.
