Even the $200+ pens have a hard time distinguishing high quality moissanite from diamond... You're supposed to put the stone in the metal piece that came with your pen. It should have come with a metal rectangle. It is a stone holder.
Diamond selector II only measures a stone's heat conductivity, of which diamonds and moissanites can pass. They do not test if material is "diamond", only whether you have CZ trying to pass as diamond or moissanite. Nothing more.
before doing a video it always a good idea to know how to read /use the equipment that will be shown. so, you don't end up looking like a 🤡 that don't know what he is talking about. There a big jewelry community on RUclips and some follower/viewers can be VERY opiniated or even mean. i keep seen people fighting over natural vs lab created or metal purity ect .Anyway when it goes to the red, it real. Only a very fancy stone detector will read moissanite instead of passing has diamond.
@thegreekgod2288You are correct indeed. It's origin are from a meteorite. It's much more rare than diamond. It is also tougher since it isn't so hard to where it becomes brittle (major issue when it comes to chipping), won't shatter if you give it a little smack with a hammer (you can find videos of diamond shattering with a little hammer drop), and doesn't have cleavage lines, on which it can cleanly break all the way through on.
Most ignorant statement. Diamond seeds grow laboratory diamonds. Made of carbon. Moissanite are CARBIDE material, and has NOTHING to do with diamonds. Do your research or ask a gemologist.
they've learned to make a glass coating to fool that crappy tester. trust me, a lot of ali baba is complete and utter shit, most of it is. i went to jewelers, all were CZ, CZ can still look good but its NOT moissanite
@@WilliamBang The 1st green light on the tester is just a test light. If it says to set it to 2, you should see 3 green lights. I have that same tester and that's what the directions said that came with mine. Good video though.
@@tiffaneywilson7032 Oh I see what you are saying. Thank you for bringing it to my attention. Yes, I've heard that from another video but I think their detector is a fake, not the genuine one. Most of them have a very similar tester but if checked against the original Made in Japan, Culti, it's a knockoff with no logo or Made in Japan. Maybe it has something to do with that? Anyways, from my experiments. It's actually better to set it lower. That's because Sapphires and other stones also give off conductivity readings, the higher you set it, the less it needs to travel up in the bar. If you set the bar to 7 or 8. It literally takes a second for it to beep. However, 2 or 3 bars would probably not make much of a difference. CZs don't conduct anything, so that's easily detected.
That is correct they put coating on theses aaa cz stones and call it moissanite this is barely passing and goes slow on meeter mine always shoot up quick like diamond
Nah. There is more fire in moissanite than CZ, moissanite looks like disco ball in the light, alot of rainbow colors. I've seen CZ they don't do that and they looo glassy. You can really distinguish it just by looking at it.
@WilliamBang aliexpress has really good jewelry despite what people say they say its always bad quality yet thats a misconception it's only bad quality if you buy from a bad seller the higher the quality moissanite the more faster it passes the diamond tester same thing with diamonds the higher the better yet aliexpress isn't only China you can buy from many different countries
naw i don't have the link anymore but you can probably find it easy on aliexpress. It was only $5 in Canadian probably like 3-4 in USD. It's the normal regular round cut one. The other special cuts are much more expensive
fun fact regardless of price and quality of moissanite the moissanite will sparkle more than any diamond

😂 u used the tester wrong 😂 💀
That's real Moissanite
They passed bro
need to bring the tester to 3 bars to 4 bars for best result for me
if its beep it means its pass
Red means passed
I tested all my jewelry holding mine and had no problem. However, mine aren't loose.
Can you share where you got them from please?

they are cultivated, and were invented in ca 1890, they use a crumb of a diamond to produce moissanite
I see
@Thegreekgod That's what I read too!

Not they don’t use a crumb of a diamond to make moissanite it’s a completely different stone

He didn't put the tester on the correct setting.
What makes you think that?

U not supposed to hold the stones but if it’s in a prong setting it doesn’t matter because your not holding the stone.
Doesn't seem to make a difference.
@@WilliamBang It does because the heat from your hand transfer through the stone can give the wrong readings
they are glass with carbon coating.
Who told u?
Tested it already, it’s not carbon coated glass.
some people say these are plated in moissanite or diamond to make it pass the test but eventually the plate will fall off
