- Best-of-3 series of professional StarCraft 2 between Maru (Terran) and Cure (Terran). Turns out Maru feels particularly cheesy in this series of Terran vs Terran.

I was extremely ready for Steve to die... Whenever you name a unit and I get REALLY invested in its life... it tends to die
video title should be " Lowko LOVES maru! (Best-of-3) cure"
lowko and maru sittin' in a tree... k-i-s-s-i-n-g.
The year is 2021, Lowko is the last SC2 streamer
PiG still doing SC2. Plus he isn't doing AoE4 clonecasts.
My fan theory: Terran upgrades aren't 'researched' and the units don't find new equipment while roaming the map. The upgrade is just the staff officers routing the task orders allowing their use. When the commander signs it off, magical new ammunition/armor/totally-legal-performance-enhancing-drugs appear!
Is that like the time taken for upgrades is just commanders have meetings and exchanging notes?
@@Sirwastealot Exactly. Engineering Bay has to confirm receipt and inventory all their shields. Environmental needs to sign off on an assessment that additional depleted uranium in ammunition won't harm the local critters. Finance chief must confirm that you're not using minerals earmarked for sustainment to procure new shields. Medical is required to have a certain amount of supplies on hand to fix all the marines who OD on their new drugs. Obviously the level 1 upgrades have been delegated to the Operations Chief; that's why they're quick. The level 3 ones need flag officer approval and probably a few sets of Powerpoint charts. All the wonderful things that happen inside a command center. 😉
@@MissionSRX Basically as boring as real life. So probably accurate 😂
In the UED fourth race mod that's actually how they get their upgrades.
The cost of upgrades is the bribe you have to pay the staff to actually do their damn jobs.
Corvids - crows, ravens & currawong's. Corvids are Australia's most successful export.
Covids, live in coronaland. Covids are coronalands most successful export. So successful that even though no one wanted it, we are all stuck with them. Then there is the virus.
I would love to see more spells maybe, because that is what makes them spellcasters. With just one or two, there isnt that much difference between them and other units.
Like starcraft 2 isnt hard enough already, lets make all the spell casters moba characters that you have to manage on your own lmao.
SC2 is easier than Brood War, I’ll tell you that much. Spellcasters in SC2 do have too many spells, I played Z and between Infestors and Vipers there are like 8 spells
Yooo new lowko vid ! Amazing 👌
30:46 fantastic casting
Lowko: "spellcasters have too many spells"
Lets make less spells per spellcaster. And more spellcasters :-D
Don't forget all the hands to control them all. Your need four now, come on you should have 8 hands.
@@kurosetsuna29 how many fingers
@@josephmcallister2719 No, I meant hands. Lowko always jokes about how many hands pro gamers need to control all the spellcasters
Funny thing is that most of terran units already have exactly one ability to cast (stimpack, throw mine, change mode, lock-on, burrow, yamato, etc)
new Lowko video (: ! Never clicked so fast on a new one :D
I'm a lowkoholic. Man I love all these vids, just came across your channel like a month or so ago and I been trying to watch every video I can
Lots of catching up to do! Enjoy :D
If spellcasters had only one spell they'd be the definition of one-tricking. They'd be countering one thing and have zero use otherwise. Vipers pull in Thors, so then you just mass Marines and they become totally worthless.
Yeah, 3+ spells definitely makes them a more diverse unit. Most of them are quite expensive too. You still want spellcasters to be a worthwhile investment. If they had less spells they'd become a lot less useful individually and more supply heavy in general. Simple isn't always a good thing.
Finally, a properly set of TvT, nice!
Well, terran and zerg only have 2 real spellcasters at. I think because of that it’s ok. Protoss is more or less based on abilities. Colossus, archon and tempest being the only units without ability (well, maybe carrier depending on how you look at it). But even there you have only like 10 abilities to look out for and they all are pretty basic. I mean there‘s LoL e-sport as were you have like 30 or 40 different active abilities in a match out of over 500 which are in the game afaik.
I think sc2 is pretty manageable once you see it a few times
can you cast some more protoss games? just any with protoss
To add to your comment of "the spellcasters have too many spells", some of these spells don't even come up at all during certain match-ups. Hell, let's take the ravens as an example, because it feels like they don't come up at all ever in TvZ or TvP (or, at least, from what I've been watching). Thus, keeping up with which spellcaster has what spell can get even more complicated.
The ghosts aswell dont come up in tvt either. They get disintegrated by Battlecruisers, tanks, and even libs. But youll see them for snipes and emp against zerg and protoss
One ghost made in TvT could be used for EMP on ravens or distraction nuke drop.
Maru: I have two reapers and a cyclone, I can totally push!
Lowko: GO HOME MARU YOU ARE DRUNK.
Also why the hell would just saying 'covid' be controversial? It's not like anyone can make even a halfway plausible case that it's not a real thing!
It's not even just that it's how it affects the algorithm
Unfortunately we've recently been lacking an abundance of even halfway plausible arguments
The controversy isn't in the "real or not", it's in the "is it as bad as MSM pushes" or not
@@abtwopoint0 interesting way to phrase that but yes as a biochemist it's fucking annoying when people don't listen to medical advice. The fact the ICU beds are filled by antivaxxers should be a clue on what ignoring medical advice looks like. But ehh people will use conspiracies and down play events to make themselves feel like they have more control and the world isn't as deadly as it is, that is standard
@@ashra8281 freedom over lives, thats how the US people think.
Lowko workaholic.
That was a good game
com for ref !
A.
Maru is the monster 😮😮😮
wow Maru indeed plays super fierce in TvT !
Considering that most spell casters can't actually attack they need to have at least 2 spells to be justifies Imho with 3 spells being solid if all the spells are somewhat niche. Now spell casters with an attack like the Ghost or Queen, I can see only having 1 spell solid on them. P.S don't tell the Protoss that their casters can attack as neither the High Templar nor Sentry are particularly viable as an attacking unit, unlike the Queen or Ghost.
100
I agree. Spellcasters have to many spells, and they should have two. Like the high templar.
Steveee! :D
That Raven run by... ooof
never played this game, seems way to stressful, but watching is just so entertaining 👀
The stress thing is usually more of a beginner's thing, you'll get used to it, you'll only feel stressed after those beginner moments in pro level play like in tournaments and etc
Who knows, you might be the next Maru ;)
TvT, also known as endless scanning the entire game.
I can't believe you are suggesting that ravens have too many spells. Even with their 3 spells, flight, and ability to detect cloaked units, the things tend to never get played in these high level matches.
My wife says Lowko is too energetic to relax to, when I watch the show after work lol
I love the shield found in the pocket moment )
Day 55 of asking lowko to play Emperor battle for Dune
that capitalized "M" in "maru" feels odd
ugh, im going to go watch harstem.
fan boy away, I love watching maru, one of my favs
25:42 🗿
So weird to me to hear cure is one of the 2 best terrans. Not saying its wrong, just wow what a timeline we're in now!
33:30 & 36:30- interesting observations!
Watching G1, Zerg's lack of early game options grows more and more annoying. Would it kill Blizzard to give them at least a couple tech pushes?
i like the ideal of two spells per spellcaster it would def make it more followable would they just get rid of some spells on the current ones so like no missile on ravens or no fungal on infestors or create another unit to use them on and maybe add a second ability to them because i feel if u dont add a second one the unit would kinda just not be worth building lots of fun theory crafting with that
5:47 I wonder why did Maru blast the cleaning bot.
TvT best matchup
I like way more bo3/bo5 over single games, it feels a lot more complete as a content
Maru OP please nerf
Weirdos who dont watch lowko daily
I understand you, Lowko. How can you not be Maru fanboy with that skill and tactics? >.
30:31 안돼겠는데요? 막혔어요~ says Korean SCV I assume
I think the spell casters have the right number of spells... they all have use-cases, even . Think of how exciting it is in the rare occasions you see microbial shroud get used well. :P
Wait people have actually gotten demonetized for saying covid?! YT really has gone downhill :/
They call it cheesing because it's fon to du.
cautionary tale for stevie: never name your mule
44:41 Marine salute
Oof that was actually kind of painful to watch in G2 when Cure could have just ended the game right there but instead gave Maru a chance to fight back.
Didn't matter in the end, but I still think that was a huge mistake not just charging forward after wiping Maru's 3 tanks - Cure absolutely could have either charged up the ramp and gone after the production, or just unseige his tanks and move in to force the Orbital to lift off.
I miss the “hello everyone my name is lowko” start….it’s far far to rare right now….
Sweet
When the second game was going on and lowko was talking about the same builds, I was confused because Maru showed the first reaper early this time...?
BS19 is a lie.
these plays are insane!
Disagree about the casters having 1-2 spells. They are spellcasters w/ heavy gas cost, I think normal units having 1 ability makes sense. Also by having 3 we get really neat meta strategies that take a long time to figure out. Often only 2 spells of a caster are worthwhile against a given race so having 3 is really more like having 2 vs some race combinations.
Lowko you have to face Maru 20 times in a row, how many wins can you get?
I can answer this one: zero!
Didn't the defiler have only one or two spells in SC1?
Dark swarm, plague, consume. So 3 spells. Though consume was more an ability because it didn't cost any energy and had very short cooldown.
@@jasonlynch282 Yeah. And you also couldn't use consume on critters, which I found a little strange.
Does Lowko even cast starcraft 2 anymore, its all non starcraft related content!
Game three is extremely high level play. Playing peek-a-boo with the tanks. Caught Cure out of position. Allowed the ravens to jump on a good portion of tanks. Very good tvt series!! Made me laugh seeing both of them with siege tanks on eachothers adjacent bases at the same time🤣🤣
If you're even with Maru, you're behind. If you're ahead of Maru, the game's even.
What are you talking about, the High Templar only has ONE spell!! its call ZAPPIDY ZAP ZAP! ;)
Thanks for the video 😊
i love the way you decided to title this video like a porno
Your commentary about corvid reactor reminded me of something I didn't realize until I heard it a thousand times. "Corvid" is family of animals that includes crows, jays, magpies, and ravens (among others.) Its literally a bird pun.
Whoa I had no idea!
not so much a pun as just the programmers paying homage to the fact that it's a "raven"
