2023 YZ250F First Ride!

- Finally got a chance to ride the new 2023 Yamaha YZ250F on the motocross track. I didn't have a chance to do a sight lap or anything and my camera died as soon as I got on the track (missing the first two turns before I pulled off). Despite no warm up or sight lap, I felt instantly comfortable on the bike, with the exception of the bars. They seemed to be rolled back or have a strange bend in them (just my opinion). The power and throttle response are a massive upgrade from my 2015 YZ250F and I'm pretty tempted to pick one of these up, but holding out for the 450F redesign to be trickled down in 2024.

@@DerekHallman really wish I did a track walk or sight lap, but oh well. Slowly getting a little smoother and faster. Hopefully the 250F gets the 450F's refresh next year.

The bike was incredible, but I'll hold off another year to upgrade from 2015.
I have a 22 and it’s the best bike I’ve ridden.. traded my 2020 yz450f for it and I’m so happy I did.
I'm holding out for the 2024 and hoping it gets the 450F's redesign.
@@ShiftGearsMoto I think the 24 will get some, but the 25 will get the rest. just like the 21 got some updates, the 22 got the rest
@@06baty that's a fair point. Did you get a chance to ride the 23 yet? Any major differences from your 22?
@@ShiftGearsMoto I haven't rode it yet but my understanding is that it is the exact same bike as the 22. Only the 450 got updated this year. Ill probably keep my 22 until the 25 comes out then upgrade

I have a problem with this 2022 yz250f .
When I’m riding in fifth gear with quarter throttle the exhaust glow red any suggestion ?
How are you looking at your bike when you're in 5th gear? Metal turns red when it gets hot.
You liking this more than KTMs 250 or 350 4ts?
KTM only brought their off-road bikes so I didn't get a chance to try the new ones. I'd really like to before buying a new MX bike.

What made you go with the 250sxf over the yz250f?
I didn't want to wait for the 2024 and I'm glad I didn't. Haven't heard great things about it. It's really nice to have the same manufacturer for both bikes. Similar parts, tools, etc. I just felt a lot more comfortable on the KTM. You can't beat the top end of the KTMs.
@@ShiftGearsMoto Thanks! Im getting more into mx, currently ride a 23 250xc and 22 300xcw(might sell the 300xcw). Want to do a little more track riding and jumping this year. Kind of torn between a 23 yz250f (also have heard mixed things about the new 24) or a 23/24 250sxf. Just cant decide.
@@SurfJdog similar to me, you might feel right at home on a SXF. Check out some of my more recent videos on it if you haven’t yet. I talk more about my decision making.
Would this be good beginner bike?
It's a great track bike for an adult to get started.
Question. On the track which bike could you make faster lap times with? The 23 ktm xc250 or the 23 yamaha 250f ?
On a motocross track? The YZ250F for sure.
