Hillsville Sand Track & Hill Climbs
Taking the 2 strokes to Hillsville PA for the first time. We rode the sand track, hit the hills at the super bowl, and found some mud puddles along the trails. Great ride! All the tracks in the area were closed this weekend due to a lack of rain.

Test riding a 1994 Honda CR125 2 stroke. 4 weeks after breaking my wrist, I'm back on the bike. Unfortunately, just taking it very easy. The clutch engagement point was completely off and would immediately stall if not on the gas when in gear and the rear brake wasn't grabbing. I thought I was missing the pedal the whole ride, but it just wasn't engaging. Really fun bike. Wish I had more experi...

for the deep inside rut that was next to the rollers the best thing to do is look ahead and keep ur feet on the pegs
I gotta work on looking ahead more in ruts and not right in front of me.
Bro just had to take a power nap
Isn't you snoring when unconscious you choking on your tongue or something?
Thats the worst jump face ive ever seen
it's a sketchy one. There's another one on this track that's just as bad.
Damnn bro good save at least you’ve never landed on a kid like I did on the long uphill there
On the uphill by the start?
Is this just plug and play???
Pretty much. Just make sure your ecu is updated by your KTM dealer.
Good to see that you’re not majorly injured but I hope your head is okay now that was a pretty fast crash. Good luck for the future
Got everything checked out and thankfully my head is fine. Just suffered a pretty bad concussion and messed up my wrist. It’s taking longer than expected to heal but I’m back out there!
That didn't look horrible to me! If I was riding like that I would think I am ready to ride with Ricky Carmichael!
Ha! I just felt uncomfortable on the bike and didn't want to push it.
How would you compare this xcf to the 250 XC?

Who did you use for your ECU?

the orange honda is trippy, btw love the kid commentary at the start lol
The red seat needs to go ASAP! That would be my 5 year old daughter. Best part of the video for sure (more near the end of the video)!
Just got a 2021 yz125 it was 5500 but we talked him down to 5000 my first relatively new bike lol
Awesome. Enjoy the bike! I just rode a 2024 YZ250F for the first time yesterday
Nice! Finally steppin up to a Honda 😂🤠🍻
it was painful, but worth it for the EFI. So smooth compared to the KLX!

Hi I have a 2006 KTM 625 SMC that the clutch feels like it needs to be tightened or what I mean is on the handle it's like halfway in when it should be fully and I'm wondering how I can adjust it to make it have more
start by checking the engagement point on your clutch lever. It's that's fine, look at your clutch plates.
i hate watching pro riders sometimes bc they do all the whips, clear the largest jumps, nail the ruts perfectly. But im not a pro, and I can't do all those things. I wanna see what its like if i were to throw on the gopro and film some laps. I love this video because he seems about the same skill level as me. THESE are the types of videos I wanna see.
Thanks! I’m glad you liked the video. Just having fun on the bike 🤙 thanks for watching!
Would anyone recommend this bike as a 1st for an adult?
it really depends on what type of riding you're doing.
@@ShiftGearsMoto trail riding
@HailMich great bike then 👍
what a great day! looked like a ton of fun!
If you've never been to a pro national, I would highly recommend checking one out. Incredible experience.
I have a question: you change parameters in map 1 or in map 2?
The CUO does not change the mapping, just engine characteristics.
@@ShiftGearsMoto yes but it doesn't matter if you are in map 1 or 2? It's the same? I rode in some topics that the engine parameters works in map 1
@@lcinotti13 it works in either the white or green map. For example, reducing the engine braking will have same effect in both maps. With that being said, I only use the green, aggressive map.
@@ShiftGearsMoto thank you so much from italy my friend
you're welcome! I've got a few more videos on the CUO coming soon.

I do have a question. I just got a new 24 Ktm 350xcf. I only ride trail so not sure if it's worth it. My question is is ktm app free? Or do you still need to pay the $250. If I do get it does it show overall mileage? Or is it just let ride
$250 is for the GPS and unit. The KTM app is free, but you have to pay $70 per year for the LITPro integration for all the statistics like lap times, segments, etc. There is no additional fee to adjust the engine characteristics. It does not show overall mileage, just what was recorded.
track conditions look mint!!! I never been on track, but would like to try one, one of these days! looks drier than what I normally ride :P
You've got to try it sometime. MX is a blast.
I need to get out there again
The track changes are really nice. I like the new jumps around the track.
The only complaint I have about the 23/24 350 Xcf's is that engine break everything else is amazing. I love the entire rest of the bike, but that engine break that engine brake sucks balls, especially for cross-country racing learn off the throttle and the bike just stop.
On the 23/24 SX-F models you can tune the engine braking with the CUO. It's actually a really nice feature.
it's reversible...
No it's not. The hose plug is only on one side.
Hell of a digger, heal up fast man!
certainly wasn't my best day, but I'm back on the bike. Thanks!
powerwash and no problems , wow.
how else do you clean a bike?
@@ShiftGearsMoto blown away they are that water tight !
@RT-tn4ry they’re made to get muddy and wet. Just don’t get water in the airbox or exhaust.
5:12 holy crap that was sketch!! kept it on 2 wheels and saved that wrist though 😎😎😎
I was ready to toss the bike. I think the barrel actually slowed me down when my back tire hit it.
Did you have to update the ECU to accept the CUO??
After reading through all of the comments I see that has been answered. I guess my next question would be where do we get the new maps?
To update the engine characteristics yes. There’s no maps, just tuning.
What’s your camera bro
Sony a6700 and GoPro hero 10.
Besides the problems 😂 thing look sick
It’s an awesome bike! I adjusted the clutch after the ride. Hopefully Josh will let me take it for another rip again soon.
Please don’t hit one of those trees being distracted recording. Def a cool bike
I try to avoid the trees 😅
I love to see the people who help, not even the guy who mainly tried to get you awake, but even the dude who turned around immediately to block more people off, the moto community is full of kind people and it’s amazing…
I was never able to get anyone’s name that helped me and the track didn’t share it. I’m very grateful for everyone’s help that day. Could have been a lot worse! Even the track owner gave me a ride to my truck on his quad. No idea who actually brought my bike back.
Sick video! I just picked up a 23 300xc. I’m also in Ohio up in the north east. Ashtabula county, where are you riding at?
Crow
Glad you are back and healthy! Great pov good save 🎉
My wrist is still healing, but happy to be riding again.
UNO REVERSE
Very nice quality and an even better save.
Thanks! Got lucky on that one. I’ll be at battlesburg tomorrow if you want to ride.
Bruh, can’t see sh*t on that ride🤦🏻
Which bike would you say revs faster and feels more aggressive to ride, the 250xcw or the 300xcw? I want the tractability in low rpm’s, but I also still wanna be able to ride it more aggressively on the single track and GNCC.
If you want more low end power, go with the 300, if you want a faster, high revving bike, go with the 250.
@@ShiftGearsMoto awesome, thank you! I’m used to a somewhat softer mapped TPI 300xc. I say somewhat mapped, it’s just mapped to make it rideable in the trails, when it was hot mapped, it would let you loop it in 1st through 5th gear lol. so Im hoping the 250 would give me the suspension I want, with a manageable yet exciting top end.
If you go with the 250, look into a more aggressive map and replacing the head with a RK TEK or similar product. Makes a big difference!
Just get the 300 xcw and ride it with the clutch. Want tractor roll on the throttle, want install high rev'ing power feather the clutch twist the throttle and dump it. I find the 250 to feel weak against a 300.
must be crazy waking up when you were just riding your dirt bike hope your okay must be crazy! My brother crashes riding his dirt bike he only a broke a finger but still was badly bruised. Sadly it was on some public place and a other dirt biker riding hit his bike and fell. Thankfully he landed in mud which soften the landing, but there both ok!
It’s a strange thing and takes a bit to figure out where you are and what happened. I’m all good now! Ride safe.
Nice mods bro i got the same bike question can you do the same update and have a vortex ecu. I got the vortex ecu in my bike and instantly noticed it put harder and rev faster
I’m not sure if it would change the engine characteristics but the gps features should all work.
I highly doubt it will work as Vortex doesn’t have the same Signals and Protocol than the Original KTM ECU it’s also not supported at all as such i suspect it to not work. But if you find out that it in fact does let me know.
Wow dude that was a scary looking crash could have been much worse get well and keep riding brother
Can you do it without changing the oil? I changed one on my trials bike and I could just leave the oil in as it's laid down but depends how much oil it hold I guess
Yes, you can but if I’m changing plates should just do the oil too. Depends on your maintenance schedule to be honest.
I think you have water in your oil?
Why do you think that?
You can find the total drive time of your bike also inside the app by pressing underneath the picture of the bike. It will extend and show you the hours.
Under operating conditions? Hours meter is blank for me. Do you have to manually sync it?
@@ShiftGearsMoto You might have to be once connected i think it’s not displaying per default for some stupid reasons.
After I took my bike to the dealer to get the ECU updated to load maps, it no longer calculates air time or longest jump. Any idea why?
@@ShiftGearsMoto You mean in the app? On guess you are currently at 2.5.12? It will comeback with the new OTA for the unit as there where some accuracy issues on the CUO which where fixed in software. So yeah currently disabled. Till the update which will come in the next days.
@@platin2148 yes I don’t see the data in the app. Longest jump is 0.0 ft. Are you asking what version app or ECU? How do I get the update when it’s released?
Did you find out that you don't have to even press the button the CUO does automatically start tracking if you are fast enough. But only if you set it up like that in the app.
I turned off auto. It would annoyingly pick up random segments and log them separately, like the ride from the pit to the track.
@@ShiftGearsMoto That i don’t fully get because it starts the logging and does end only if you stalled the engine or turned it off. Yes that would include the time to the pit but should not be captured by the smart phone as a track layout. I suspected already that the starting condition is definitely a thing that is more individual. And obviously it can’t know where the track is as that data isn’t on the unit (for now). If i would say to you we could turn it off and don’t start again if it’s not one the track you previously selected do you think that would make more sense for automatically start/stop?
I think if it recorded everything but only logged segments it picked up as laps would be better. I realize it only brings the track layouts in but you have to sort all those random segment logs. Either for me to just manually start it when I’m about to go and turn it off when I finish my moto.
@@ShiftGearsMoto Ok thx for the feedback. Will take sometime till we can make it happen. Might with this unit a bit of a thing that you‘d need to upload the track layouts prior. But there is plenty of storage for hundred of different ones.
@@ShiftGearsMoto I still don‘t get how it randomly stops may you be able to file a issue with this?
Can’t wait to pick up my 24 125 xc soon
Great choice. Enjoy it 🤙
I have the CUO installed on my 24 MY 250 SX-F. Well worth it for the weekend warrior! Word of caution - if you are worried about the accuracy of your hour meter, which I suspect you would be for resale value in future - when the CUO is on, ie any time it is lit up, the hour meter will be counting up on your bike! (Even if the engine is not running). That is true when you are sending new maps to the bike and downloading rider data (which can take a few minutes). After install, I gained about 2 hours on my hour meter of time when the bike was not even running! I contacted KTM, and their advice - The CUO acts as a diagnostic device and as such will add hours onto your bike. The recommendation from KTM when any diagnostic device is plugged in, is that the hour meter be disconnected before and reconnected after. So worth pulling the number plate off and unplugging the hour meter while you download or upload your data.
Thanks for watching and the comment. I actually didn't realize the hours meter was still on when the CUO is on (it takes about 2-3 minutes to shutoff even after the bike shuts off, which is kind of annoying). All those extra minutes add up I suppose. I'll have to check today, but I thought the hours meter screen timed out when the bike off, even if the CUO is still on. Can you confirm it's actually still on?
@@ShiftGearsMoto no worries, I enjoyed the video 👌 I’ll send you what the KTM Technical Team sent me: “With regards to the hour counter. Loading maps falls under diagnostic classification, therefore please follow the guidance under section 6.9 Combination instrument: The combination instrument (1) is attached in front of the handlebar. The combination instrument shows the total number of operating hours of the engine. The operating hour counter begins counting when the engine is started and stops when the engine is switched off. Info Nothing can be cleared or adjusted on the combination instrument. As soon as the diagnostics tool is connected, the service hour counter starts running. Before longer diagnostic sessions, unplug the service hour counter behind the start number plate.” I noticed the hours had jumped up significantly after installing the CUO but before riding with it. It was quite obvious to me though as the bike was still basically new and had only 7 hours total.
Great - thanks for sharing the info. I'll definitely keep an eye on it and if I plan on keeping the CUO on for awhile, I'll unplug the hours meter. Do you know which plug is the hours meter?
On my bike there are 2 of the fully blue plugs, like the one at 3:28 (If I were to hazard a guess I’d say that blue plug is your hour meter as well). If you follow the wire down from the hour meter it will lead you to the correct plug. Then test it - quick flick of start button and if you hear the fuel pump prime but the hour meter doesn’t come on you’ve got the right one 😎
Uhh that is a nice thing. Well the CUO isn't acting as diag device but, you know what this can be something I'll add to the feature list. So that we remove the amount of time the CUO was on for that what we report in the TDT inside the app. There is also the issue that the hour meter of the app and the tacho will not match up as there is a different way to how they measure.
Was he dead?
