It is "Die Gläserne Manufaktur" (or The Transparent Factory) in Dresden, Germany. It's actually a kind of showroom factory where you can go to as a guest and see more or less the complete assembly of a car. You can experience the manufacturing process, there's a merchandise shop, they have school exhibitions, and you can actually go there and pick up your new VW (only specific models though). It's not a high-volume manufacturing plant; they're being run alongside this one, in various parts of Germany.
@@ZierraOrbital Wow, thank you very much for this information👍 Sounds like a "live museum". Looking forward to visit this facility once we can travel 👍

The transparent factory is a very small factory and not there for volume production. It’s more like an experience center for customers. You can watch your own car during production for a little extra money, which is pretty cool in my opinion. www.glaesernemanufaktur.de/en/experience-manufacture/experience-id-family/the-e-test-drive-jump-in.html
This shows early stages production ramp-up of an additional production facility at Gläserne Manufaktur Dresden which was recently switched from making eGolfs to now ID3. The large majority of ID3 are made at the Zwickau plant at a much quicker pace I would imagine. Really confusing why they would push this footage including scenes shot in the earlier development pre 2020. VW PR often is a bit inconsistent like that unfortunately.
all we see here is the final assembly which is always done mostly by hand as there are so many small things to put into place that automating this is too costly and mostly not possible. Tesla tried to automate this and failed which almost bankrupted them in 2018. All the parts you see here like the entire chassis for example is produced 100% automatically from sheets of steel to the welded and painted chassis.
In this video there is no production at all, also no final assembly, as is claimed in another comment. The planning and testing of work steps is shown here, and robots are "taught in". The whole is the pre-, pre-, pre-stage of production. (This text was translated from German into English with Google translator)

I’me so happy to see VW taking this time to change over to E.V’s in such a big way. WELL DONE. Elon will be very proud you have made the right decision.
Unlimited recources and engineers. Still they only managed to invent this sorry excuse of a car. 4wd? Nope, not here. Tow bar?..nada! How about a roof rack? Not possible! But atleast the infotainment is intuitive and next gen?? Not a chance!!
This is a relatively cheap car, especially compared to other electric cars. If you want all of those features you need to pay for them. Tell me one manufacturer that offers that for the price of an ID3.
@@Kro3627 I’ve said for the price of an ID3... The price gap is very big and all of that for a roof rack and a tow bar (which costs extra)? Also, the Model 3 got less interior space, no Apple CarPlay and the trunk is smaller as well. I think you can’t get a better EV for that price at the moment.
@@lorenzmuller4000 here in Denmark Tesla M3 is just a little bit more expensive but a much better car; More range, faster charging, auto driving, more room. Id4 adds more range at the expense if storage, batteries everywhere, so I hear.
@@SwedeInCPH Excuse me? More storage in the model 3? You do know that you are comparing a small little sedan with a full size SUV. The MEB platform is a skateboard architecture, just like the Model 3. You don’t even notice the batteries. The ID3 and ID4 are famous for the space they offer. The ID4 has almost twice as much trunk space than the Model 3. The only downside is the charging speed, the VW travel assist is almost as good as the Tesla autopilot on highways and we already know that VW will increase the charging speed OTA. For a family this is a easy choice.

You're joking. Right? VW know how to mass produce vehicles and we all know this vid is not showing that...
Awkward facility, seems more like some kind of concept space rather than an assembly line...

weird. is this pre production testing? surely this is not how they plan to make volume production.
