He depends on how many times an enemy needs to charge the ardboyz to remove them. Before combat mortals decreases enemy output and it may be the case where they get charged 3-4 times before they get removed, and that would increase the value of this hero
Everything I’m reading incentivizes Ardboyz to retreat after being charged. I think they have the potential to force opponent to waste points on Power Through or see their chances of scoring dropping down to zero. Looking forward to seeing it but I think he has play in Weirdfist next to a Weirdnob and 10 Ardboyz.
I think projecting 6-7 mortals prior to the fight would phase is a different threat level than just 3. that‘s two dead knights of any kind. Granted, he would have to be cheapish; but it doesn’t sound as bad as it looks at first glance.
average player here but I actually like him as I think he simply strengthens the ardboyz anvil roll. makes them better at what they do. and when you charge a unit, getting 6-7 dmg before you fight instead of 3 isnt the same threat imo. Makes ppl bit more scarred and turn the ardboyz into zoning units? Idk, I guess we'll see on the table
Just opened the video, and before I watch... please don't be mean to my boy... Edit: He was mean about my boy. This guy will be 50 points before the end of the year. Ardboys will be 120. Will still take Brutes instead :(
He's probably a C. Not bad, but expensive. Worth taking though to be honest. Just not great. Only thing is shield bash is not worse, it's much better. It happens before fighting, it's now the whole unit, whereas before it was for every model within 1" and you can counter charge a unit that charged you and still do it. It's 100% better than before.
@@MossDogAoS ya Ardboyz are meat shields. The idea is for your opponent to charge them. But my point is that if your opponent charges and you counter charge with your Ardboyz, you can use it on the enemy unit that charged and it happens before fighting which helps them absorb the hit. It's 100% better than the previous version.

If I understand correctly, shield bash happens before any fight ability? If this is true we can avoid more damage by killing more things that charged.

Not surprised to see GW butcher the newest sculpts after them actually being decent in 3rd, all about the money
Yeah he's bad just compare him to the megaboss as specific unit buffer. Should have been a 1/game or 4+/turn ardboy unit recursion.

You only get to do it if charged, not every turn though.

Who knows maybe he’ll be like 40pts lol
How cheap does it have to be to actually take? Lol. Seems very crappy.
