This logic of someone allegedly choosing to be a loser is just absurd. Many things in life are, or are approximating a zero-sum game. In order for someone to win, many others have to lose. That’s just how reality functions - it is a fixed time-space continuum. Many of us have competed and been defeated, and there are always factors at play that neither the defeated nor the victor had any responsibility or agency in determining. This isn’t to say that hard work and agency are irrelevant - far from it; however, no one picked their parents, for example, yet we are judged on these things anyway. I suppose the real problem is that safety is such a prevalent factor in today’s world that the defeated aren’t usually synonymous with the vanquished. What a time to be alive.
