Remarkable, those 2 trebles would snag over the reefs where I fish for snapper in coromandel nz. So the legend Steve Starlo who has caught a billion bream, catches his pb on his 5th cast. Amazing thanks
A local lure from a local legend where I live, absolute game changer! I have even had a few mussel imitations tied up for my fly box by local fly tyers now, if you can get the sink rate right they work dynamite as well.
Starlo there’ll be a jockey looking for that horse you caught! A real dinosaur of a fish and caught on your first attempt with the Muss! That’s gold well done 👌
I think the reason this lure tends to catch big bream is because the smaller fish don't have the strength to bust open a mussle, so only the big fish bother with it. Of course that probably means you're going to limit the number of fish you catch, but increase the likelihood of catching something really big as you did here.
just got into fishing with lures and I'm addicted. up at 4am most mornings to check conditions. I just wanted to leave a comment and say well done mate, I see that you respond to every comment on RUclips. thats so respectable mate. I can't imagine how busy you are, and I know you have a name in the industry from what I can see, caught a few fish I reckon. to take the time to respond to everyone is amazing. keep positive mate. ( no need to respond but you probably will anyways haha) FISH ON
Yep, this lure is insane! Used it first time last weekend. Ended up upgrading my leader to 14lbs cause they were hitting it like freight trains & was getting busted off on 6 & 8lbs! Ended up catching 7 bream all over 42cm with a new pb of 44cm!
Hi Peter, Unbelievable result on the muss! Did you take any photos? Would love to post a photo on my outback breamer baits social pages. Regards Callum (muss man)
Great video, Starlo and good on you for drawing attention to a great Australian innovation. I've picked up a few of these from Callum and have had good results and lots of fun.
Congratulations on the PB Starlo what a beast of a fish. These mussels are awesome I’ve been getting some great fish on them. Keep making the bream videos mate I love this stuff.
It's what keeps the passion flowing in all of us. The thirst for knowledge and nailing down a new technique on a new lure is exciting. Great PB, I have been stuck on 43 fork for about 10 years. I have caught a fair few at 43 fork and just cant seem to top it. I'm yet to chuck on the Muss but I will be giving it a crack very shortly.
What a cracking fish, well done Sir 👍 Your inching towards that 50cm bad boy with precision. I saw young Shroom using a Mussel vibe lure in Sydney Harbour some weeks ago. And I thought, what a clever, well thought out lure. Much like the Cranka Crab lure, very smart designs. With big bream having such powerful jaws, and at $20 + a pop, one might chew through a few lures each session. Not cheap but worth the cost i think. I'm starting to feel sorry for the bream. Cheers mate 😀
So good Starlo. Reckon the muss would work on the Sunny Coast even if we don't get many mussels growing up this way? Who knows - might be in the local bream's DNA to crunch it anyway??
Great vid Starlo and awesome to see such a fish caught on the new Muss. I've been told to only used around structure such as pylons and jetties so good to see it can work wherever👍
Gee Starla, this lure has big potential, I wasn’t aware they cam in different colours. Your P.B bream is a total beast. That is a huge fat and chunky monster my friend. Well done, I would have been overjoyed… nice to see your successful session. I gotta get me some of those lures.. all the best from Norm.
Crackin bream Steve.well done congrats on the 2kg mark. My biggest is only 45cm at 1.2kg cleaned caught off the stones.would not of survived though unfortunatly as it took both hooks down on a cunjie bait chasing brute pigs. Looking forward to seeing you get a few more on this lure
Just as awesome seeing you getting excited as that fat bream👍🏻thats wonderful thing about fishing doesn't matter if your 9 or 99yrs old (not saying your 99 mate lol) there's always something new to get excited about & learn🙂
What an excellent session! I love the part telling yourself it’s possible it’s just foul hooked, it’s that moment of uncertainty and the fact it was holding it’s ground and not coming easily it seemed just a 1lb fish sideways at first look, but well done! It’s a horse of a fish! For me I’ve targeted big bream on bait’s my whole life, the preferred method is cubing although vibes and micro plastics have been fun in the past, it’s top water that is my goal now My pb was a slender and silvery 52cm 1.8kg from Coffs marina next to the cougar cat back in ‘99, it took a whole pilly on 6kg gear off the bottom rigged on a snood left over from snapper fishing.annoyingly while I was fishing for bream on a 4lb unweighted outfit
@@StarloGetsReelI know it’s a shame! I loved fishing there back then, looking back though I put a lot of time in there and I’ve got to say damn that place stinks at times! It’s filled with kingfish at the moment too, they’ve been busting up nearly every day! Anyway keep em coming mate! I think it’s great that you’ve been making these vids! I never missed a fishing show in the past always watching to get any slither of information from the likes of yourself or bushy, now I don’t have time for tv, or most of the advertising shows that are on now days.
Awesome video. I always wondered if you ever use other brands stuff. I've been a huge fan on shimano and squidgy stuff. The only soft plastic lure I use and had so much success on is the squidgy prawns. Keep up the good work
What a cracking bream. I have tried them muss I had the same look on my face when I caught my bream on it too. That boat of yours looks so awesome any chance you could give a run down pros and cons?

@@StarloGetsReel great idea
Hahaha that was entertaining to watch, from the doubtful thoughts to the OMG what a beast , loved it, might have to get me some.
Glad you liked it! Yes, worth having a few in your kit, for sure.

Hi starlo. What rod where you using in the video
It's a Shimano Expride 2610 model.
Couldn't you just drill a couple of holes through a live muscle and rig it? Would have the correct scent also. Might give that a go.
Would work for sure! Might get a bit smelly after a week in the tackle box, though. 😂
