    Y’all gotta understand, considering his weight and him concentrating the pull-ups (which keep in mind is controlling the pull ups for the whole range of motion, not just being dead weight on the way down) is seriously impressive and unless you’re intermediate-advanced with weight lifting, you’ll see how impressive this is vs people who are simple minded

    • @pauric7765
      @pauric7765 6 месяцев назад +20

      I'm not simple minded. So I agree with you

    • @4purs
      @4purs 6 месяцев назад +57

      I’m not hating but he’s not going FULL range of motion. His chin doesn’t go above the bar which is probably why he can’t feel as good of a squeeze at the top than when he does with pull downs and he doesn’t extend his arms at the bottom which is where you get the stretch, which is the most important part of lifting movements. But also sam never was king of rom anyway, not every movement has to be 100% efficient to work you can clearly still get huge without doing things the most efficient way possible.

    • @drmustache1839
      @drmustache1839 6 месяцев назад +5

      @@4purs exactly, in some movements, long length partials are all that can be required to achieve growth, in this case(video) it can be disputed whether Sam has his chin above the bar but I would say it doesn’t matter cause it’s such a tiny difference from how far his chin would be going over the bar and what I mean overall is that his chin COULD be a little tiny bit below but overall he’ll still achieve growth cause he’s getting that full stretch on the bottom and going high enough to feel the tension just enough, going over the bar is people’s preference but ideally you would want to just to feel that noice tension at the top

But now I gained a shit ton of weight to the point that I currently weight 310 pounds at 6’3 and I was surprised that I can still do them. For instance, yesterday I did 6 which was surprising, difficult af but surprising… but again I used to train for strength as I used to play rugby, so that could be the reason I can still do them at my current weight… but yeah they are in my opinion one of the best workouts that anyone can do.

    I used to think the same way about pull ups, the trick is to just keep doing them, and eventually you are strong enough to do it proper. All the way up and all the way down, I do one set of pull ups daily and it works wonders. I do not go to absolute failure, but close. Currently at 12 reps max. :) He can't get the "squeeze" at the top, because he can't go to the top, it's simple as that!

    I’m 5ft 8
    140lbs
    I bench 135 4-5times but never had a spotter to try and max.
    I can do 50-60 pushups no prob.
    The best part is I run 5miles in under 40 min and I can run 7 miles in under an hour. That’s in 90 plus degree weather. It’s a good feeling knowing it’s hard af to catch me.
