Great first reaction and welcome to the BABYMETAL Foxhole.🦊They formed in 2010 as a sub-unit of a JPop Idol group set up by the Amuse talent agency to give experience to some of their most talented young girls and they separated from that group to become an independent band in their own right in 2013. There were 3 original members (they were only 12 and 11 years old at the time) and we have watched them grow up and become one of the very best live acts on the planet. BABYMETAL are Su-metal (lead vocalist), Moametal and Momometal (in charge of backing vocals, harmonies and mainly hyping and involving the crowd with their choreo). The original third member Yuimetal last performed in October 2017 and was absent for 12 months for health reasons until she announced she was still not fully recovered and would be leaving the band. Momometal, was revealed as the new official third member on 1st April 2023. F Hero was their guest for this song. He is a rapper from Thailand and very well known there, he flew in to Japan specially to perform on those first two nights of the 2019 tour. I completely agree with you about rap, it is absolutely not my thing, but whenever BABYMETAL include a style or genre I'm not a fan of in one of their songs they somehow make it so much better. The instrument you could hear during F Hero's rap was a Thai instrument (some sort of harp?) that he suggested adding when the song was being recorded. That was the official video so the studio audio was dubbed over the live performance (there is a video of this performance with the live audio - it is so much better). They do tend to do that a lot for their official videos - which is a shame as the live audio is better. They performed in Bangkok in Thailand in 2023 and F Hero made another special guest appearance. 'PA PA YA' is a summer festival song - and yes it really is about a spicy green papaya fruit salad. F Hero was rapping in Thai to the same rhythm as mixing the ingredients for the salad with a mortar and pestle. They are pretty much saying that, much like the salad, mixing the right spices into life will make that better too. BABYMETAL are like nothing you will have seen or heard before, they brought a fusion of great metal instrumentals coupled with JPop hooks, melodies and aesthetics to create their very own sub-genre ... and they have continued to develop and evolve from those beginnings. They don't limit themselves to any one main style or genre and you won't be able to pigeonhole or put them in any one box like you can with virtually every other band in the world, they are one of a kind and they invented their own genre and style that nobody has been able to copy successfully (some have tried, none came close) including bringing choreographed dancing to metal (but not as you might know it from pop acts where it is nearly always used just to fill the stage or give you almost naked girls (and boys) to look at to take your mind off often bland music). Moa and Momoko (and originally Yui) are a crucial element to what makes BABYMETAL stand out and different - and the best live entertainment I have had the privilege to enjoy. BABYMETAL's choreo helps with interpreting the song - a lyric or the meaning etc, but it is designed to involve and lead the crowd, to give them their cues when to jump, shout, pump their fists, chant and so on (they love to see everybody in their crowds dancing along and letting themselves go). BABYMETAL are complete masters of crowd control and crowd involvement. They are supported in live shows by the Kami Band - the Kami Band of the East are some of Japan's very best session musicians, each one of them a world class instrumentalist. They last appeared for the concerts in January 2023. Later in 2019 after the concerts where 'PA PA YA' was filmed the Kami Band of the West (American musicians) were introduced to support BABYMETAL on their more extended foreign tours. They have been ever present since April 2023. They have nearly 70 songs now, every one of them is different from the last. They have songs in virtually every metal genre but will mix in other musical styles and genres with the metal, often when you least expect it. Some songs lean towards their pop roots others are just good hard metal and they do everything in between - so if you don't like one song no problem - try another, the chances are you'll love it. They will be doing their first arena tour of Europe and the UK in May and bringing their big Japanese style productions, I have my tickets for the O2 in London (I'll be up in the seats, I'm far too old and ache too much for the mosh pits etc on the floor). I will suggest a couple of their early songs if you are curious and fancy doing more reactions - 'Megitsune' (official MV and/or live at PIA Arena 2023) and 'Headbanger' live at Legend 1997 (Su-metal's 16th birthday concert in December 2013 - you can find a high quality video posted by abr metal). For something completely different and more recent where they slow it down try 'Monochrome' live at PIA Arena from April 2023.
Great reaction, thanks and welcome to BABYMETAL! "PA PA YA!" is a summer festival fun song about a spicy Thai green salad... and it never fails to put you in a good mood when it's needed. I like to explain their origins from this point of view (which I consider more accurate): All this concept was the idea of one man, Key Kobayashi (known by Kobametal or Koba). He's the producer and the person behind all their music (being or not being credited for that). He's a lifelong metalhead and got this idea of mixing metal with j-pop elements seeing metal's decadent state and j-pop being literally everywhere. Then he saw a very young Nakamoto performing with her former girl group and, apparently, it was crystal clear for him that she was perfect to front a metal band and the project he had in mind. It wasn't easy. He was producing content for the kids division of his company, Amuse, a talent agency. He got the opportunity in 2010 when he started producing a larger school themed j-pop idol group called Sakura Gakuin and decided to add a sub-unit dedicated to the heavy music: the heavy music club or "Jūonbu". The company wasn't so sure but let him do, although without any extra budget. They started gaining notoriety, performing small gigs in tiny venues and even shopping malls... until they eventually split from SG in early 2013. The rest is history. I've seen them a few times, including two big format solo shows in Japan (actually at the same venue this video was recorded). And it's quite an experience. I'm seeing them next May in London on their arena tour finale... after seeing them in Madrid and Barcelona (hopefully from the barrier). They are very diverse musically since they like to mix any music genre with metal and they are unpredictable. So, always expect the unexpected. 😁 🤘🦊
"It's a pretty good work out isn't it?" - Now imagine this, times 12 - 15 songs 😅. No wonder these monster ladies talk about food so much! 🤣 Babymetal is by far one of THE best live bands around. Had the pleasure of seeing them about a month ago. Also, they have had an amazing career with such a wide variety of styles (from when they were kids to now mid-20s). I think you'll enjoy doing more Babymetal reactions! *Suggestions:* _Road of Resistance (Pia Arena MM 2023):_ Epic battle anthem. _Monochrome (Pia Arena MM 2023):_ Heartfelt and melodic. _Gimme Chocolate (Official MV):_ The original viral hit that propelled Babymetal onto the world stage. A song about "hangry divas" if they don't get their chocolate 🤣. _Catch Me If You Can (Budokan 2014):_ Early Babymetal. An adorably brutal song about hide and seek. SlipKnot, but cute. 🤘🦊

Thanks from Japan 有難う💛。This popular and exhilarating song has been performed in almost all of BM shows since 2019. In June 2019, F. Hero came all the way to Japan from Thai for the world premiere of this song in the two-day shows and he had been very nervous to perform at a huge arena in foreign country. This MV is a mixture of studio audio and live performance footage. At the actual performance, Su-Metal shouted "Come on F. Hero!" to summon him and at the end of this song she screamed "Thank you F. The “I was not expecting this” and “WTF did I just watch” are the typical reactions among first-time BABYMETAL viewers. A lot of their songs tend to get that - even after you watch a few of them! Anyway . . . . You’ve opened a can of worms! BABYMETAL has an extensive history (and lore) which I won’t get into but a quick synopsis: they’ve been around since 2010, and started when their lead singer - known as Su-metal (Suzuka Nakamoto) - was about twelve, and the two "cheerleaders" (officially "scream and dance" (backing vocals)) - Moametal (Moa Kikuchi) and Yuimetal (Yui Mizuno) - were both around eleven. Unfortunately, Yui left the group in 2018 because of health concerns, and early in 2023 Momoko Okazaki (Momometal) was named a member of the group. They do not play instruments but are backed by the Kami Band - session musicians who are among the best that Japan (and the U.S.) has to offer. BABYMETAL started a brand new genre of music ("kawaii metal" - cute metal), and they cannot be pigeon-holed - they are almost always thinking and moving outside box; they made listening to metal FUN! They have, to date, four studio albums with over fifty songs, and have been on a number of world tours. It is common knowledge among their devoted fans (known as "The One") that BABYMETAL is best served live, but they do have several music videos that are real works of art. I try to urge people new to BABYMETAL to start from BABYMETAL's beginning and see how they have progressed to now - see where they’ve been before getting caught up in where they are - and react to their first two music videos, "Doki Doki Morning" ( ruclips.net/video/cirhQ8iLdbw/видео.htmlsi=k84SUx4P01t9M5ic ) and "Iine!" I'm sure you will find both very entertaining, and it is my opinion that, until you’ve seen their earlier work, you haven't really experienced BABYMETAL. You’ll notice those are the first two on this list of recommended songs (with links to suggested versions). The first sixteen are from what I've come to call "The Golden Age of BABYMETAL" (better known as "The Yui Era"). If nothing else, it can be used as a reference to find high quality versions of BABYMETAL songs without mucking about - if they are on the list. Anyway . . . . Another recommendation (read "challenge"): react to an entire BABYMETAL concert. I suggest: "Legend 1997 Apocalypse" ruclips.net/p/PLdBAj9hZ91wCao72oSqTMLrGpIDOqzR2Q and/or "Budokan Black Night" (2014) ruclips.net/p/PLdBAj9hZ91wBwsBfjsKH9zWxA5YOOUkSI Both concerts are, in a word, incredible.

"PA PA YA!" is a summer festival fun song about a spicy Thai green salad... and it never fails to put you in a good mood when it's needed.
I like to explain their origins from this point of view (which I consider more accurate):
All this concept was the idea of one man, Key Kobayashi (known by Kobametal or Koba). He's the producer and the person behind all their music (being or not being credited for that).
He's a lifelong metalhead and got this idea of mixing metal with j-pop elements seeing metal's decadent state and j-pop being literally everywhere. They are very diverse musically since they like to mix any music genre with metal and they are unpredictable. So, always expect the unexpected. 😁

The “I was not expecting this” and “WTF did I just watch” are the typical reactions among first-time BABYMETAL viewers. A lot of their songs tend to get that - even after you watch a few of them! Anyway . . . .
You’ve opened a can of worms!

You can use my RUclips playlist “BABYMETAL Top Twenty” ( ruclips.net/p/PLdhz2aj0pt4zPl0BZLevPUR9uHKQA27uj ) as a quick link to all of these videos; it is a mix of MV’s and live performances, is more or less in historical sequence, and could be considered a road map down the BABYMETAL foxhole. If nothing else, it can be used as a reference to find high quality versions of BABYMETAL songs without mucking about - if they are on the list. Anyway . . . .
Another recommendation (read "challenge"): react to an entire BABYMETAL concert. I suggest:
"Legend 1997 Apocalypse" ruclips.net/p/PLdBAj9hZ91wCao72oSqTMLrGpIDOqzR2Q
and/or
"Budokan Black Night" (2014) ruclips.net/p/PLdBAj9hZ91wBwsBfjsKH9zWxA5YOOUkSI
Both concerts are, in a word, incredible.
Enjoy your trip down the foxhole! (You're in for a wild ride!!!)
Keep rockin' BABYMETAL!!! (Sorry about the wall!)
