As gold and silver have drifted down slightly over the last 3 weeks, gold open interest has plummeted, falling by over 100,000 contracts, but so far only making about a $100 dent in the gold price, just a 4% move.
Chinese premiums for silver continue to stay at record highs, and Rafi takes a longer term view of open interest in the silver futures market. It's not as important as it once was, though it was the main tool for silver suppression in the late 1970s. That didn't work for long though.
And finally, the uptrend line in the gold bull market since 2015 has steepened every time it has been tagged.

If the powers that be are still in control, silver should stay down through Op-ex next Friday so that the bulk of miner calls expire worthless (letting Wall Street keep the premiums).
Meanwhile, they're likely buying longer dated calls for the pop/gamma unclench afterwards.

Silver as an industrial metal seems more important today as analysts look at the supply/demand and project infrastructure buildout.
It is the original everyday monetary measure of exchange. That could be repeated somewhat. Nothing new under the Sun. Gold stashes are monetary wealth measures of Nations. Let us not forget Copper...exchange metal for small items like Apples, Oranges, etc. Silver for Industrial is a big agitator of history which could make it on par with Gold in the not so distant future.

So I have a serious question, I honestly don't understand. But if the GSR gets down to 15, why would I not just exchange my silver for gold at that point? Especially if I'm not ready to buy "stuff"? I guess I should say if gold scarcity is not an issue. For instance we sold out house and moved back to a state we prefer at the beginning of the year. We are renting until the housing market collapses, which it's starting to. We put the large chunk we got from the sale of the house all in on silver (stored by our dealer). So we will sit on the silver and housing market until one gives. Most houses for sale can't be purchased with precious metals, because many may have a mortgage on them, which means we would need to exchange for dollars at the time. Unless of course we find someone who owns a house outright and is willing to accept precious metals. This is why I was thinking when the GSR goes down I will exchange for gold, which will retain it's value better. Any thoughts from anyone who knows?
You’re thinking is spot on. I’m just waiting for the GSR to get to around 40/1 then I’m going to start swapping out around 10% of my silver for gold as the GSR keeps falling. Dollar cost averaging out of silver into gold. Bearing in mind, gold is a tier 1 asset, while silver isn’t, so you may be able to borrow from a bank by depositing your gold. Good luck.

You move ALL of that money into silver! Never ever put all your eggs in one basket. When/if the time comes, there may be banks that will take silver , but they will definitely take gold for homes on their balance sheet begin to scale into gold as the ratio comes down says I.
