You guys, these are some tips from someone who cut their mile 2 minutes in 1 try:
Practice jogging for a straight 5 min, this will help you find a good pace you can maintain for a while. Practice 5 minute jogs!!
Try keeping that pace for the 1st 2 laps on your mile. Slow down if needed on the third lap, and really push yourself to the end on the last lap
Hope this works! I am a really bad runner and i cut my 13 minute mile to 11 minutes. Im still working at it!!

That breathing method works! I have been trying to run for years and was always unsuccessful. I started inhaling and exhaling through my nose during my day, at first it caused panic but it got better. When I added running to my workout it made it so much easier. Now I'm training for my first 5k.

    Here's some tips
    1. You have to work and do core workouts
    2. Run at your own pace the only person you wanna beat is you push and do better everytime
    3. Have someone as a goal that you wanna beat it will push you more to run
    4. Try your best everytime and don't try to slack off and cheat the only person your cheating out is yourself
    5. You got great power in you dont get that keep going further and trying and you can do it

Finding the right pace for you is key for sure, a mile is easy for me at a 10.30mi pace and being in your 40s isn't a limiting factor either as I'm fitter and can run further than I ever did at 46 so don't think you can't do what you could in your 20s or 30s, sometimes it just takes time. Athletes train for years with fitness trainers and nutritionalists to get their bodies in perfect state for competition and records.

First of all, English is not my first language.
Second, I suck at running, and failed every running test(1000 meters for guys, about 0.62 mile) in school. I don't work out at all these days.
After watching this video, I went jogging, and took it really slow, tried my best to breath into my stomach, without stopping for a walk or breathing through my mouth, I finished 2440 meters(1.5 miles). I did get tired, but not that somebody kill me somebody kill me please tired, and my throat didn't get that burning pain at all.
So it really worked, thanks a lot!

The FitnessGram™ Pacer Test is a multistage aerobic capacity test that progressively gets more difficult as it continues. The 20 meter pacer test will begin in 30 seconds. Line up at the start. The running speed starts slowly, but gets faster each minute after you hear this signal. Ding A single lap should be completed each time you hear this sound. Ding Remember to run in a straight line, and run as long as possible. The second time you fail to complete a lap before the sound, your test is over. The test will begin on the word start. On your mark, get ready, ding

Great tips! I'm a fairly new runner (I've been speed walking all year, but have just started getting into a low impact running) and breathing is definitely something I'm trying to improve on. I was running a 5k the other day and my mouth was wide open and I swallowed a huge bug, proceeded to choke and puke. So I'm rethinking my strategy with running and breathing. Also for those who may have back problems (like me) and can't do those type of sit-ups ..... the Dead Bug run (laying flat on back - engaging groin, lower and upper ab muscles - and moving legs slowly in a low run off the ground while keeping back flat on the ground) is a great core exercise.

I love how all the female running coaches explain breathing and demonstrate it so well.. the males get lost in what they are trying to say to explain the technical side of it they forget how to exactly show you how to do it… then you just feel lost trying to understand what they were trying to show you…

@@sashabraus9527 It's okay atleast you got a better time😉 I'm not good at sports either and I needed 15 minutes for 2 km😂 then I got a 1,25 (1 is the worst and 6 is the best...that was my worst mark in my whole life). I started to run the week before the last week (if it's how you say this because idk😂) and first I set a goal to run 2km without stopping. I achieved the goal last week and now I try to get a better time like 10 min. If I achieved that then I'll maybe run 2,5km and so on.
I recommend you to do this because it feels good if you achieve something you have never achieved before. And it improves your stamina! Your mental health will get better too!
So good luck if you try this :)
