The Honeymooners is so funny & I've seen them so many times. I don't have to watch it. Just close my eyes, think about a skit, see it in my mind & lmao. Now that's a great show!! The way Art & Jackie worked together was nothing less than brilliant!!
I love this show. Yes, I love it because it's hilarious. But mostly, I love it because it reminds me of growing up. Watching it with my family. Of my parents being excited to have us watch it for the first time, knowing we were going to laugh our asses off. I can't even tell you how many times I have seen these episodes, too many to count. But even now, watching this clip, I can't look away and it makes me want to watch more. The world will never be as simple as it used to be. It sucks.
This is one of the best comedy teams in the world. They are still watched after all these years. They are so 😍. I have a very strong feeling that they will continue to be watched years from now.

I don't think you did, because the Honeymooners' ENTIRE SHOW was built around Ralph Kramden yelling at people most especially Ed Norton (played by Art Carney) and his wife, Alice (played by Sheila MacRae)! He also liked to yell about his mother in law, played by Ethel Owen.
One of the funniest five and a half minutes of comedy. The mannerisms, words, and inherent brilliance that only a Gleason could pull off. His Brooklyn New York roots only add to the scenarios he struggles to get out of. This guy was so great at his craft it is scary.
Gleason praised Art Carney. Ironically watching this video, Gleason referred to Carney as, like how you call a great boxer, a world champion. Gleason knew just how forytunate he was to have Carney. Carney helped Gleason and Gleason helped Carney to do a great job of being hysterical on this show.
Jackie is one of the best actors of the 50s comedian shows it's funny even black actors that are overweight still copy his style like the fat guy on family matter pure acting genius ahead of his time

And to keep Gleason on track, they arranged for him to make certain subtle gestures if, for whatever reason, he couldn't remember what was supposed to happen next or what he had to say in which case the other cast member had to 'bail him out'. Joyce Randolph said this was the most demanding part of working with Gleason, namely coping with his constant tendency to veer too far away from his lines.

All the episodes are so funny. Art Carney and Jackie Gleason were quite a pair of comedians, recognizing Audrey Meadows and Joyce Randolph too... My friend knew Paul Carney, Art's son who is very talented in music the same as Art was, great piano player. Paul says that Mrs. Manicotti baby sat him and his brother a few times while Art was acting.
One of my favorite episodes. This scene is a classic. Ralph Kramden talked a lot of s___t and got punked out by Harvey. Jackie Gleason's facial expressions in this scene , priceless.

I first saw the Honeymooners when I was about 14 years old back in the late 1970's. It was in the summer when we had no school so I would stay up late and watch TV in the family den after my parents had gone to bed. So one night I was turning the channel on the TV and I saw this show with this big fat guy hollering and getting all bent out of shape about everything. I thought to myself; who's this big fat guy? He's hilarious! So the next night I put the same channel on at the same time and saw the intro where they say; "Jackie Gleason, the Honeymooners." I was like; "So THAT'S Jackie Gleason?" I had heard the name before but didn't know who he was, but now I did. I've been a fan ever since.

Rufus Leakin Ed looks up to Ralph in a lot of ways. Ralph is his buddy and Ralph talks like he is really smart about things and he always knows what is right, he knows what he is doing. Even though Ralph may not be very important and wise to most people, he is to Norton. So, Norton figures Ralph can teach these bozos a lesson taking of care of Harvey outside. That is how Norton sees it. He knows Harvey is much bigger. but figures Ralph must know what he is doing. even if Ed doesn't.

Women have more equal rights now and work, etc.,but most all women just like most all men were happy being women and happy being men during the years the honeymooners were filmed. Both sexes have always had advantages and disadvantages in life, but the two sexes need each other to be happy. And all people have always known this. Racial prejudices and bias by way of sexual preferences are a different story.

After watching Honeymooners at midnight recently a show The Phil Servers show came on after - Immedeitly notice George Matthews (Harvey) was in the episode and portrayed the same tough guy roll as an Army lieutenant. Harvey roll was so iconic was even used in a Jerky Boys sketch in the 1990s, - 40 years later & was immediately recognized from this episode!

For those wondering what this has to do with baseball, here's a little trivia. Harvey and Shirley eventually played for both the Yankees and Mets. Matt Harvey pitched for the Mets from 2012-2018 going 34-37 in that span. Bart Shirley played 6 games for the Mets at second base in 1967, going 0-12 at the plate before the Mets returned him to the Dodgers, after picking him up in the Rule 5 draft the previous off-season. Joe Harvey pitched 9 games as a reliever in early 2019, winning his lone decision before being traded to the Rockies in a minor league deal Bob Shirley pitched for the Yankees from 1983-86 going 14-20 as a spot starter and mid to long reliever after pitching for the Padres, Cards, and Reds previously.
Gleason lived life to the fullest, He was the funniest most generous man to walk the planet and had a vision of what he wanted and with everyone trying to change it to what they thought was funny he still refused to give up on his vision and from what i always heard from the old timmers when i was a kid was that he was 1 of a kind and did it his way. He knew life was short and carried a lot of pain around with him from childhood and learned at a very young age to enjoy life because it goes by quick. He had to sacrifice the every day husband and father life to make it to legendary status. He was always entertaining 24/7. He had insomnia and did most of his work at night, including having a lot of sex and a lot of drinking. He drank to much he ate to much , he spent to much and he banged to much. Who could ask for a better life. He hid his pain by doing all that. R.i.p Jackie, he truly was the Great one.. and away we go...
The Honeymooners only ran for one season. The original 39 episodes. I remember watching this when I was 10 years old. They are just as funny today, as they were back then. Hey Ralph, he's even bigger than your friend Shirley. Humma humma humma humma.

For those wondering what this has to do with baseball, here's a little trivia. Harvey and Shirley eventually played for both the Yankees and Mets.
Matt Harvey pitched for the Mets from 2012-2018 going 34-37 in that span.
Bart Shirley played 6 games for the Mets at second base in 1967, going 0-12 at the plate before the Mets returned him to the Dodgers, after picking him up in the Rule 5 draft the previous off-season.
Joe Harvey pitched 9 games as a reliever in early 2019, winning his lone decision before being traded to the Rockies in a minor league deal
Bob Shirley pitched for the Yankees from 1983-86 going 14-20 as a spot starter and mid to long reliever after pitching for the Padres, Cards, and Reds previously.
Gleason lived life to the fullest, He was the funniest most generous man to walk the planet and had a vision of what he wanted and with everyone trying to change it to what they thought was funny he still refused to give up on his vision and from what i always heard from the old timmers when i was a kid was that he was 1 of a kind and did it his way. He knew life was short and carried a lot of pain around with him from childhood and learned at a very young age to enjoy life because it goes by quick. He had to sacrifice the every day husband and father life to make it to legendary status. He was always entertaining 24/7. He had insomnia and did most of his work at night, including having a lot of sex and a lot of drinking. He drank to much he ate to much , he spent to much and he banged to much. Who could ask for a better life. He hid his pain by doing all that.

The Honeymooners only ran for one season. The original 39 episodes. I remember watching this when I was 10 years old. They are just as funny today, as they were back then. Hey Ralph, he's even bigger than your friend Shirley. Humma humma humma humma.
