    I also have dwarf umbrella sedge poking out of my fish tank and I really like how the floating plants gather around its stems. It makes the water surface look pretty and the upper column fish like to hang out under the leaves.

    Another good plant to use are mangroves! They can grow in freshwater and not limited to salt water. It'll need some pruning to keep it small and compact.

      @plantlifeproject  Год назад +1

      How much light will be coming through the window? Bright light for a few hours per day, dim light all day, facing east or west, etc. Pothos, lucky bamboo, peace lily, philodendrons, maybe spider plant, parlor palm all do pretty well with low light. Vining plants have the advantage of growing toward the light in order to get the most they can.

    • @plantlifeproject

    Hi!
    I have a Neanthe Bella palm problem. I've had it in the aquarium with free roots for a few months now and recently it has started to dry out. When I took it out of the water, I saw that the roots were rotten. How to prevent something like this?

    • @plantlifeproject
      @plantlifeproject  Год назад

      Sorry to hear that! Is this a single, individual plant or several together? They are sold as many plants together when bought as a potted houseplant, I try to thin them out while washing the roots and preparing them for the riparium and spread them out.

  • @1982vicks
    @1982vicks 3 года назад +1

    If you put an antherium in water, doesn't it get root rot? I love watching your videos because I find them interesting, but I've never put them in an aquarium but I have put them in semihydroponics and the antherium always dies from root rot.

    • @plantlifeproject
      @plantlifeproject  3 года назад +3

      My experience with many houseplants has been that when you put them in the water, the roots begin to die but new roots will replace them. I have not had issues with anthurium dying, I do grow mine with roots free in the water, not covered with gravel or other substrate. Now , I have tried growing certain plants that I’ve seen other people have success with, like spider plant, and the whole plant just rots and dies. So sometimes results can vary from person to person.
