Good old days it is. This video was aired Dec.14, 1967. Today, as of Feb.15, 2024, amazingly still entertaining us. Dean Martin Show brings joy & laughter to many around the world till nowadays. RIP All the greats. They'll always be remembered. Thank you for the post.
Had to save this when I noticed the date 12/14/67, my husband’s 27th birthday. We had an 8+ month old sweet baby boy and probably stayed home and watched this very show. We liked Bob Newhart a lot too. No Dean was not drunk or stoned, we found out later it was all part of the act which he had perfected. Nobody got to the top of so many professions and made the $$$ he did while drunk or stoned. Check it out, he was really multi-talented and entertained us in many ways for many years. Left us 12-25-95 and he is still missed by so many. RIP MR. COOL. You were the BEST!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Deans son Dean Jr died a few years before, as did Johnny Carson’s Son.... Deana Sings her Dads Songs... We have a Little of Dean when She Sings!!! Love Baby It’s Cold Outside!! Keep Singing Deana !!! I , “We”, Love Your Dad... & You , Martin Family !!! Deana, Winter Wonderland Special... For January 2022!!!
While I didn't have a happy childhood, I remember the happiest memories include watching this show and escaping in the glamour, song, dance, and comedy Dean brought each week.
Yes, Only Happy Childhood Memories is Variety Shows. Dean Martin... I wanted to be a GoGo Dancer on Deans show... The Osmonds are the Last Of the Era of Great Entertainers. I am latch key generation , only child, home all alone... with the tv... Blessed to have television programs , family variety shows... I didn’t “get” any adult content of Johnny Carson show Or other shows...
My folks never missed Dean Martin on Thursday night. It came on past my bedtime so it was a rare treat to watch it. In its later years, '72 and on, I would be allowed to stay up and see it on occasion. Great show, nothing like it today.
I remember watching Dean's show with my mom and dad every Thursday night. I lived in Cincinnati then. I later moved to Long Beach Ca. I stayed 19 yrs. Moved back to Cincy. Sorry I did we had a lote of friends. I worked at Gte 10yrs. Husband worked at Kaiser Hospital Harbor City.
Dean was so cool; he always gave the impression that he was having a great time. Whether you liked him or not really didn't matter to him, he was just having a ball. So loose, relaxed and effortless. Oh yeah; that Caterina Valente sure had a voice! Great performer!
So amazing how these videos bring us back to those days.. for me, they were better days❤ I had so many favorite entertainers… Dean was on the top. I honestly have no favorite entertainers today. here is to the old days thank you for sharing🎶🎤❤
Dean Martin was great! He was an actor, singer, comedian, recording star..... His show had all of the big stars of the era appearing on it. I so miss him... I really do.... It makes me happy and sad at the same time when I watch these shows. Thank you very much for posting these.....
Yes, you always knew one his pals would show up and it was a blast to watch. I get sad thinking about how we’ll never have this again. But happy to remember those days and those wonderful entertainers.
When my Mom packed us up in minnesota and arrived to our new rental apartment in glendale, ca she started taking me and my brother to many, many tapings of what are now classics today and of course OUR favorite was being in the audience of this iconic NBC tv show The Dean Martin Show, where Mr Martin was given a 3 year contract for year's 2, 3 and 4 for an astounding $34 million dollars plus lots of stock in some hot company on wall street plus no rehearsals, ever! My mom is currently 94 years old and I Love sending her copies of the shows we used to go to and watch! If any show allowed a live studio audience? Believe me, I know my mom brought us to at least one of the tapings! Even the iconic Bob Hope Christmas Specials! And the time I remember most was when I had to go pee real bad so I was walking down the aisle, heading for the bathroom, and did so during mr hopes longggg monologue... when all of a sudden I hear mr hope call me out by saying, "what's wrong, you couldn't wait till my monologue was over"? Embarrassed, I went to turn around to go back to my seat, when all of a sudden I hear him laughing followed by the entire place cracking up! Mr hope said, "son, I'm only joking, please don't stop when mother nature calls!" We no longer live in California and we got out just in time, right before all the greatness faded away like this show and many others from the 60s and 70s. I thank you all for reading my 100% true life story and thank you to my mom who raised 5 of us strong headed kids. Love and peace to you all.. In Jesus Name! Amen
Dean Martin is one of those people you just miss. Like Bob Hope and other great entertainers of past. Guy Marks was hilarious. He did an episode of The Dick Van Dyke Show titled "Jilting the Jilter" that's just incredible. Too bad there's no talent today to do variety shows. They're sorely needed.
This is a wonderful treat and I loved Dean Martin is trurly a favorite of mine. Miss him very much. There are not shows like this on TV. today. I watched this show every week . Loved DEAN.
Merry Christmas 2019 everyone! I used to watch these Christmas specials with my family. We didn't have color TV in 1967 , but we didn't care. Hey , TV was TV , we watched it!
Straight class.THank you so very much for reminding or introducing this handsome man to the ones who weren't lucky enough to be born in the 50's,60's.I was 4 when this show aired and I remember my mama making popcorn for the family to sit and enjoy these awesome variety shows. And Dean Martin played such the party guy when it was commonly known that he actually rarely drank in real life.Love this reminder of a by gone time that holds such a prominent place in my heart.Merry Christmas everyone!
My high school history teacher played 'Abraham Lincoln's Press Agent' from Bob Newhart's first comedy album to a class of fifteen / sixteen-year old male students. In minutes, that routine had a bunch of oh-so-cool adolescent wise-asses literally falling on the floor gasping for air from laughing so hard. Later, when I became an adult, Newhart did a benefit show for a local hospital at a century-old former women's guild meeting venue called the Sheldon in St. Louis, and I was fortunate to get a ticket in the balcony seating area. Newhart simply walked on stage, and the entire audience on both levels immediately stood and gave him a standing ovation. Funny is ageless AND timeless.
So glad I grew up in this era of variety shows(although I was 5 years old when this originally aired). You won't see this kind of entertainment on television these days. Thanks for posting. P.S. I'm always amazed at Deans rhythm. Amazing dancer!!
DeansPalley You are right. The shows of today are not even close to being enjoyable. Sitcoms with bland humor and lack of audience are not to be considered watchable now or ever. To me, the 60s, 70s and 80s are the eras with lots of wonderful shows that people watched and enjoyed. But since the 90s, TV shows went downhill and starting in 2000, everything became just reality garbage that nobody pays attention to. Some people don't know how to make good TV programs today.
Love to hear Katerina and Dean sing together. He was so handsome. And he new he was good looking. And he used it to advantage. He did good. He was from Stubenville,Ohio I came from Cinti.Ohio and I moved to Long Beach. Ca. In 1973 was there 19 yrs.
My mom, my grandma and I would gather around the TV and watch the Dean Martin show every week. My grandmother had a big crush on him! He was extremely handsome and multi-talented. Still missing you, Dino.
I too am so glad I grew up with these variety shows. I was only 5 myself but I remember all of us watching this and it was so entertaining. Thank you for sharing !! Dean was awesome !! I am a huge ratpack fan !

Guy Marks played Pink Cloud, one of the three regular characters on Tim Conway's 1967 comedy western "Rango" (one of producer Aaron Spelling's early efforts, in his partnership with Danny Thomas) that ran on ABC. I'll guess Marks thought enough of the live and home audience would be familiar with "Rango" that it was logical to use Pink Cloud as his character's name in this skit -- full of spot-on impersonations. . . . My how the color and clarity of these "Dean Martin" prints are spectacular. With all the advances in video (and audio) we're definitely seeing them better today than half a century ago on that era's state-of-the-art color television sets.

They really don't make 'em like this any more.
Too true, that was the age of Real Women, not the trout pouted clone influencers like Kim Kardashian etc.
The Caterina Valente sequence is just sensational.
