Re the bush story... I 100% understand the emotion. For most mere mortals when they feel like that, they call in sick. Hiding in a bush takes a very specific set of circumstances but fair play for going in and doing the commentary after. I would've stayed in the bush until 3am and then got a taxi to the airport, flown to a random country, shaved my beard and lived under a new identity. You're braver than you think
I don't have many horrible encounters but here's a memorable one. On a weekend day a few years ago my dad and I went up on a small mountain and camped out for the night. Once we had gotten set up with the tent and all, we started up a game of cards to pass some time. So we were sitting around in the tent with the zip-up door open when we see a little face pop up in the entry way. We can tell it's a snake, but it's getting dusk and we can't see it very well. So the snake decides to slither its neck on in and sniff around for a minute, now we weren't in a very big tent, so the snake probably sniffs withen four or five inches of us. Apperntly seeing nothing of interest it eventually decides to slide back on out. At this point, we poke our heads out the tent to get a closer look at the fellow, and it's a big ol copperhead. Now that's a pretty notable guest to have no matter how far away it is, and this one could have shuffled our cards for us. After that me and my dad decided to zip the tent up and continue our game, but if the big fellow had stayed around we probably would've dealt him out a hand of cards or two.
Doesn't matter how hungover you are, springing something like that on someone, especially someone struggling with anxiety, ain't on. I'd forgive myself for hiding in a situation like that. Thanks for another great TT Simon.
Would love to see more Smith Morra games. Simon would be an assassin on the board with some of the more sacrificial lines. That d5 move Simon was looking at, white can actually sacrifice the knight with Nxd5 for advantage.
Horrible chess encounter ?...Playing Feliks Kwiatkowski. He just sits there sneering and making faces at every move his opponent makes. The man's a barrister !!! Cheers Simon.
Magnus played Black Lion at the olympiad. It would be cool if you could asses the variation he played. There was also some high level black lion played at womens games. You have really managed to win some followers in the chess world.
I also was terrible at languages Simon. But you already speak the language of Shakespeare, Yeats, Blake and John Oliver... while I only speak American.
Most horrible encounter was meeting a girl, going back to her parents and her brother was staying there on house arrest with a tag waiting for trial and he was about 6'7 very tall and very paranoid, he asked to come in her room while I was there with her to check her wardrobe to make sure no one was hiding in there.. then he started questioning me and honestly he seemed paranoid enough to have done anything.
haven’t watched a GGM vid in ages but came back in the hopes of hearing a little “put that in your pipe and smoke it son”… and he delivered on the first game. glorious
Weekly ritual continues, great content, keep it up!
Hiding in the bush! I love the stories you tell in these videos

Congrats on your degree 😂
I wonder if Simon knows how many people look forward to this on a Wednesday? It's truly the high point of the week !! 😂
haha great story about you hiding in the bush. Keep up the good work! I love watching your videos.
I think one week Simon should unleash the psycho cowboy. Sac everything, don’t worry about the score.
Greetings from Chile! Nice as always Simon! C:
My day goes from 6 to 9 when I watch gingergm video
I'm 1200ish and won a game against a 1700 player using yours and Blair's harry pawn storm idea in the jobava :D
Great job, Harry and Garry can be quite the attackers
The way I play chess is sacrifice everything that is not tied down
Chessable has the mayhem in the morra course now Simon. Give it a whirl
Long live the TT streak
Simon: Greatest Of All Time... sort of

15:48 was anyone else yelling Nf5+ at their screen!? 🤣🤣
Yes I was trying to understand what I was missing / why it didn't work.
Winning Quickly with 1.b3....Odessky, love it when you play these lines.
" ... don't get annoyed, life is too harsh anyway ... " True brother!
As an alumni and contributing scholar at the University of You Call that Chess? I congratulate you on your admission.
If you play ... b6 in these setups it is a must that you see the games of the late great Tony Miles! He was a renowned specialist with ... b6 38:58
Never in doubt.
59:34 I noticed this when I tried speaking to you at The Good Knight pub in Oslo last year... 🙂
The first blunder was not making the thumbnail Simon hiding in a bush.
Hey Ginger! Can you please change the board color for each TT video? That would make it easier to differentiate between them. Thanks!
Horrible chess encounter ?...Playing Feliks Kwiatkowski. He just sits there sneering and making faces at every move his opponent makes. The man's a barrister !!! Cheers Simon.
Nice as always🎉
Kings Gambit is always entertaining, but Froms Gambit also leads to crazy positions!
it's always fun to watch the fastest bullet player in the world😂
damn. I miss your commentary at tournaments.

He hid in a bush 🤣 great story.
Nf5 was on the board for so long simon

I love Charlie
In Utero :)
You inspired me to play the Dutch and adopt the in game attitude of "Fuck it!" I lose most my games as black but "fuck it" 😂😂

Ginge, there is a direct correlation between lack of Psycho Cowboy and blunders. Look at the maths
Great title...
great thumbnail :D
Why don't you have a blitz series road to 2800? Do you think you can reach 2800 blitz?
I feel your pain. my rating has plummeted 200 pts in the last few months. I now worry I'll never make 1000 again (sad I know)
I once threw some bad food in the bush....

Smith Morra gambit have a lot theory, several lines of sac, is not good idea playing without know principal lines, good titled, thanks.

Yes, Gurevich...
Greetings from california

nice finish, my nerves...
Whats with those timings in the game against Mathias Womacka? Dude taking same amount of time for absolutely obvious shit
I never ever believe the engine, but if it ever says I played at 96.5%……
🔥🔥🔥🔥

that's hilarious told of for swearing do they not understand your streams :)
40:09, 50:50, etc. Every opening Simon uses is either a Dutch, or a Delayed Dutch (no matter what position the pieces are on the board).
My most horrible encounter happened in Thailand. You know the rest
Mate, can I suggest you tell your fascinating tales in between and not during your games? 😂😅
i wanted to hear the end of the guy on LSD story...
Pretty sure the king of Gibraltar is King Charles long live the king 👑
The fucking maaaaaan
Horrible encounter. Playing a player in a juinor u11 or something and he wrote he won on the scorecard when he lost. Lucky I noticed 🙂
Fuck a duck there was a ridiculous amount of ads on this video!
@13:41 - What jumped out at me, Simon, was castling queenside because if dxe5 then Rd8, winning the rook on h8.
nirvana rocks!!
The 4th round game try Nh3...
I wish I had hid in bush on my marriage day! Life would have been easier.
Simon, I can help you with learning languages! How about I teach you the French language and you teach me the French Defence, please 🙂
rip cobain
Stop playing the Dutch. Play the Berlin🤪
46:34 How do you like those apples?
