- Leonardo da Vinci’s painting of the Last Supper has riveted the minds of the world for centuries. Yet this depiction of the Last Supper, like many others, is quite inaccurate when it comes to the actual setting of the Last Supper. Because of these depictions, we often picture Christ seated at the center of a long table, with his disciples on each side of him. However, according to ancient Roman and Jewish culture, and several verses found in the gospels, we find a much different setting. With this more accurate setting, we are able to learn of a powerful message of Jesus’ true love.

The small case on the doorpost is called a mezuzah and is placed on the doorpost of every Jewish home because of Deut. 6:4-9. Traditionally whey you would enter the home you would touch the mezuzah and then kiss the fingers that touched it. This is to show your love towards God and to remind you of his law to "love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might." It is hard to say if Jesus followed this tradition, but the film creator chose to depict it.
I think Jesus would have touched the mezuzah and kissed his fingers as symbol of his love for his father.
...there is a scene in the show, The Chosen, where Jesus touches the Mezzuzah and kisses His fingers...many viewers will miss this because they do not know much about Jewish culture or tradition...

Here I was after hearing about the Da Vinci code and last supper he potrayed to the world in his own understanding was true but listening and going to scripture looking at this one makes sense so much than the one davinci projected before. Note - chronology and timeline are based on the traditional Church Holy Week, not based on the biblical Passion Week. The Last Supper was on Abib 12. Crucifixion was 2 days later on Abib 14 (Apr. 5 - Wed) CE 30. Resurrection was Abib 16 (Friday).

Why is it assumed John was the beloved disciple? Scripture states that Lazarus was loved by Jesus as well as Lazarus sisters. The disciple that Jesus loved was also tagging along behind Jesus and His group.

JESUS SAVES

The Birth of Jesus Christ

Hebrew: עִמָּנוּאֵל, "God with us" in human flesh but without sin. The Savior of the world was born to die for our sins! He did so 33 years later. His terrible ordeal; body mutilated; blood poured out, finally died (John 19:30; Luke 23:46 ) and was placed in a tomb and rose from the dead the 3rd day ! "HE IS RISEN" Matthew 28: 6.

BY GOD'S GRACE ALONE THROUGH FAITH ALONE IN JESUS CHRIST ARE WE SAVED
Ephesians 2:8 "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 not of works, lest any man should boast."
Jesus died and paid the penalty for our sins to rescue us from eternal death. He died on our behalf. We believe in Him, trusting His death and shedding of His blood as payment for ALL our sins and His burial and resurrection from the dead the third day! John 20:24-31; 1 Corinthians 15: 3-4 above.
WHOSOEVER BELIEVES SHALL TESTIFY TO THE TRUTH
Romans 10:
9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
13 For “whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
TO DIE IS TO REJECT SALVATION IN JESUS CHRIST AND BE SEPARATE FROM GOD FOREVERMORE
Salvation and forgiveness of sins is the blessing of anyone who believes in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. We receive the baptism of God the Holy Spirit immediately which seals us in Christ and that is permanent! Ephesians 1:13-14. Those who reject the free gift of salvation, see John 3:16 above, "perish", which means their sins are judged by God the Son and they suffer eternal separation from God and the family of God forever called the "second death". Revelation 21:8.

I know that Judas was the one that betrayed Jesus. Many say he was the devil incarnate. If that be so, why would he hang himself? The devil wouldn’t do that. Judas couldn’t handle his remorse. The devil has no remorse. He’s a psychopath.
I think they mean it as a figure of speech because you are correct. Judas is not Satan.
@@messagesofChrist you know what I think is so messed up? God needed Judas so He could carry out His plan of Jesus’ sacrifice. Why was Judas chosen to do the dirty work? Why not Peter or Paul or one of the others? Did you read that? God needed a betrayer to fulfill prophecy and open the gates of Heaven. That is something that I can’t wrap my head around. God needs evil to carry out his full plan. It’s frightening.
That's not how I see it. A parent who allows a child to fall while learning to walk does so knowing the fall will allow the child to walk. The parent also knows that this fall will ultimately lead towards good things. Just because the parent knows the child will fall, or that falling helps them learn to walk does not mean the parent caused the fall. God can know us well enough and can use evil for good.
@@messagesofChrist So how is it that Judas’ betrayal taught him anything if it lead to his suicide? His evil didn’t lead to better walking but to death. God knew he would do that too. My brother committed suicide and it caused me so much calamity that I sought a false prophet who consequently destroyed my life. That was only the beginning of my suffering. And I have a question, explain to me the inability for atonement for the woman in Isaiah 47? No, it’s not about a nation under judgement. It’s about a real woman. No where in the scripture does it read that this woman committed the unforgivable sin. It states simply that she is evil and God will take his vengeance and that her destruction cannot be atoned. If it cannot be atoned, how is her evil used for good? God created her so He must need her like He needed Judas. Both Judas and the Virgin Daughter of Babylon are evil, but how, for them, does their evil serve them if they are just led to darkness? Maybe it serves others? I don’t really understand God’s plan even though I love him. In fact, I’m in so much pain that all I want to do is curl up at God’s feet and rest in his presence.

I put it to you that Judas was NOT as he is depicted. Jesus knew that Judas would "betray" him yet still honoured him. Jesus knew his death was coming, that's why he said he would not eat again with his followers and why that night he prayed so long in the garden. Jesus would not have died then if Judas had not lead the temple guard to him. I believe that Judas was acting on the word of God as the prophecy could not be fulfilled until the lamb of god had died.There for Judas HAD to lead the guard to Jesus

This whole teaching starts wrong. It was not a Thursday, but a Tuesday. The Last Supper was never the Passover. Yeshua died before the eve of the Passover.
I challenge anyone to prove to me that the Last Supper was the Passover. It is a Catholic lie. The scriptures are very clear that the Last Supper was the evening before the Preparation Day. Yeshua died on the Preparation Day which was before the eve of the Passover. Yeshua was in the tomb for the Passover.

Sometime the exact depection count be vary various are interpreted. But the FAITH IN JESUS IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN WHERE A Painting 🎨. I've been to Europe 🌍 there is a painting 🎨 🖌️ on a 16th Century Cathedral. Upon entering I saw a painty that has been hanging on the wall since it was painted! No flash pics are allowed. Europe 🌍 has a different ide of Time. We Americans don't realize the idea of Time! This painting was Only a Couple hundred years after Christ Crucification!
