Wow… what amazing Azalea nice work! I just got my first one from a nursery and did the initial hard pruning :(. I did get a bunch of cuttings planted from it though. Maybe one day mine will be half as good as this and I’ll be very satisfied
😍❤ Thank You Jelle for yet another fascinating video tutorial. I hope many more peeps will learn something from your knowledge and expertise . . . Once again, thank you for sharing to the Bonsai community. What would we do without you?
You are a great instructor! You explain very clearly without talking on and on about practically nothing like some AND you don't play annoying music!!!: Do you display your bonsai at any shows? Will you show us some of your best? Thank you : D
I am afraid I do add music to some videos if I amjust showing some stuff, sorry. I do every once in a while pop things in shows, but nothing planned at the moment!
Bedankt Jelle. Ik ben compleet nieuw in deze hobby en ben pas sinds deze zomer begonnen. Ik heb erg veel geleerd van jouw video's. Kleine azalea gekocht en met jouw tips aan de slag gegaan. Dank!
I have what i call lawnsai azaleas. They are big and old i am thinking about trunk chopping one and possibly putting one in a pot. However i really like them.
After pruning process Azalea Bonsai tree, looking to be beautiful Sir Good Job Sir. I am appretiate for your activity about Bonsai. Greeting one hobby Bonsai from Indonesia.
Excellent!! My azaleas have trunks that are half a centimeter thick. By next season they should look like yours if I trim them, yes?...😅😂😂😂🤣Great video Jelle!!
Hi jelle, I've just got myself a satsuki azalea for bonsai, i havent moved to do any work on it yet as its still flowering and ive heard not to re pot or cutting any pruning during flower season. What would be the best way to gain height and will it require some quite drastic cuts? I.e. cutting all branches off the main trunk( even if they are nicely thick) and encourage height.
It is what is typically recommended. I am finding my way around satsuki too. The common understanding is allowing the leader to grow out first is the fastest way to reach height.
Just wanted to revisit this, when it comes to new shoots coming out of the main branch, how soon should I snip these off? These are ones that have sprouted from the trunk itself and are just opening up

How east are Azaleas to propagate
Sorry I missed it Jelle watching now 👍
All good, hope you enjoyed it!?
Could you please tell how often and what do you use to fertilise azalea?
to be honest, I use the same fertilizer for pretty much all my trees. Have you seen my 2 videos on feetilizer for bonsai?
You are doing the clipping in summer? Never mind, I just got to the part of the video when you mentioned the time of year. 😁
:) After flowering, as the tree decides, lets go and grow. Early to late spring. !

@@TomoBishBosh if you do not want a branch there, just remove them as you see them.
Is that a garden azalea, or a Satsuki? Does the technique apply to both?
It is a garden azalea. Satsuki work too.
Pardon if you said this already.. So do you need to do this at the beginning of June ?
I like to do it as soon as the flowers start to wilt. Climate, weather, location and species/variety affect the date
If you could show after pruning, the growth till flowering
so sorry.. I did not record any footage this summer!
👍👌🙂
