      I sometimes wonder what war Veteran's think of the state of our country now.
      It makes my piss boil seeing how some of you were treated after the war. Especially seeing Veteran's like you on the street homeless, suffering from PTSD.
      I'm not sure what the statistics are on that. I doubt it was even recorded as it's such a hard thing to detect when people go off the grid, so to speak.

      @@British-Dragon-Simulations What's even worse is the prison population of vets! They are SUPPOSED to get access to certain services, but no one is counting how many are vets! GREAT VIDEO Cap, what effort you put into this, well done that was. Very well done in fact. The Argie pilots indeed were skillful and courageous, and of course the British pilots as well, considering what they had to work with in terms of numbers, an incredible showing of the capability of the little SHAR and RAF Harrier too. The SHAR especially though, what an extremely flexible and capable fighter it turned out to be, operating in sea conditions no other naval carrier could have including the USN CVNs back then. Anyhow, well done again Cap, you really outdid yourself with this one, and it'll be living on in my bookmarks.

I know, because my job was fixing the Blue Fox radar on FRS1 harriers! The RAF used to have terrain following thus no radar signal to pick up jam - which cannot work at sea without external guidance ( AWACS / GPS etc).

      @MrWhiteladder61 2 года назад +2

      @@andreartymiuk in the book "Amphibious assault Falklands" written by the officers who planned and commanded the assault they explain that the rapier placement was done using a computer program. This used the topography of the area to workout the best sites for Rapier coverage. The problem was the program assumed the Attacker would be targeting land targets and not the shipping, so the placement wasn't sufficient. Also in the haste to load the ships in the uk, some vital calibration equipment for Rapier was left behind on the dockside!! Woodward wanted his most of his frigates to return to the main task force at the end of the first day, but Rapier was not ready to defend the anchorage. Finally the ships radars intefered with the Rapier search radar, this had 2 effects, Rapier had a simple indicator system using lights that pointed in the direction of a incoming aircraft so the optical sight could be slewed. 2nd it provided an "in range" cue to allow firing at maximum range. Nether of these worked because of the interference.

    Amazing job Reaper! It talks really well from you when you mentioned both names of the island, with the same respect. I really hope this map could join a bit more younger generations of british and argentines. This community is very passionate about this conflict and there are many guys with lots of knowledge that will bring to the table awesome campaigns and missions. Lets see what the future prepares for this map

    Amazing content CAP. Such a change in style. That almost seamless matching of actual footage with in game footage was excellent. I think most of do not appreciate the effort required to make a few minutes of film but you must have spent hours researching, assembling and polishing this footage before it was released. Really excellent tribute to the servicemen and women of all sides, the game makers and of course you. Well done.

    Bloody hell Cap! That was fantastic. Must gave taken ages to do. I remember all of this and have been to San Carlos. Its haunting watching this. I was 11 when it all kicked off down there and then served two tours at MPA in 94 and 2000. A mate of mines father helped build MPA.

    Nicely done - I love the cow/horse substitute ;) I’m really hoping we get a lot of new assets later with this map. Soooo many elements missing if you want to recreate the conflict (the modern warships we have are just too lethal even on the lowest AI settings).

      Happily DCS let's us reduce the effectiveness of the ships. We can reduce the detection/engagement ranges and alter the Rules of Engagement.

      @@andreartymiuk yeah it’s not the best solution but it sort of works. Hopefully we will get some Argentine infantry - currently if you select it you can only chose a pilot model! ;-0. Or could this be, yet again, another map release that doesn’t have all the pieces we need to play properly with it.

    0:21 Love the historical accuracy you put into the bombing pattern. Still remember seeing the craters on Google Maps, sadly they aren't visible there anymore now. Just been a few years ago, felt like a memorial.
    Operation Black Buck was some hell of a mission, the whole refueling thing, especially during thunderstorms alone was a masterpiece. "It's like shoving a wet noodle up a cat's arse!" still stuck in my mind...
    0:45 Is that still the mod? Couldn't find the asset in the ME yet...
    3:35 We clearly need ponies in DCS... :D
    Great work! /)

    Very well done with the assets you have. That was definitely the kind of views we had on the day, my ship, Antrim, is in the middle of the 3 at 6:03. I watched my best friend's ship burn, Ardent. He was one of the lucky ones to return home. Also, much respect for the pilots who knew they were flying into hell in San Carlos, I speak with one occasionally online.
