We used to run old combines so been to john manners many times,in fact went there for parts a good few years ago and bought a combine from john as he said it was to good to break and we had it for a good many years
Ah you having a laugh. I was in Northumberland a few weeks ago on holiday and drove past this place a few times. They had a big ol yellow new Holland combine out in their yard you can see from the road. If I had known all those old combines were out back I would have called in to have a look
In Cambridgeshire there is a farm with only one Modern tractor and a classic New Holland Tx34 which is lovely to see harvesting! Probably would have had some parts form you guys!
All depends on the weight and scrap price at the time. I don't know what a Combine weighs all up, but it must be fifteen odd tons. Scrap price for steel goes up and down so it's anywhere between £50-60 a Ton up to a couple of hundred quid.......depends on the market at the time... so an estimate to your question is anywhere between about £750 and £3k (obviously more if they're heavier etc.). Not a bad number if you already got your purchase money back selling off the spares/engines etc, and you're doing it 75 times a year. It's probably a very scary small number when you look at the brand new cost of a modern Combine though
We will need these machines when the computers go down on the new tech farm equipment. Electronics fails, machines just need lube. Computers running everything, we all get screwed.
I’m amazed at how clean the graveyard is.
Well done to this man and his business.
This company has got me out of the 💩 on a few occasions.

Combines are a Local landmark for me in Northumberland. Always see their wagons on the road.
Smiles reminds me of my Past, I built Sheves? and Pullies and shafts for Dad's Newholand combines.

##grandpa's opinion. This is the grave yard for many farmers that tried to foolishly keep up with the Jones.

I'd be upset seeing my tractor turn up with another tractors loader and bucket on the roof.
