Colin I shoot loads to with my 20bore, but usually early morning, when out setting/checking my traps. It's easier to see the active molehills then I find, as the soil is fresh. I always wait until the second push up of the soil before kaboom! Most times there is no damage to the mole, it must be the pressure that gets them. Ben Hamo an a Airgun pellet wouldn’t have got through the six inches of soil , plus it’s the accuracy, shooting at the hill usually gives a percussion blast which kills the mole, it’s not always directly under the barrel,, although, to be honest, I would like to see it done with an airgun, it would be a cracking shot ,, 👍, cheers ..

Anything you've got to hand mate, I normally use 28 gram 7.5 steel birdshot but anything will do it, a lot are killed by the percussion blast, so any medium to high power shell will work, 👍
I don't think so mate, an old guy told me he shoots moles way back in 86, so I tried it myself and gave been doing it ever since, it just takes a bit of patience, and being able to identify the freshest hill where the mole is working, but a very simple method and if you time it right, more time efficient than trapping, I shot 16 in an hour one morning, just quietly creeping around the mole hills,, give it a go, good luck, 👍👍

A shotguns a bit overkill, an air rifle would have been fine but a shotgun would leave nothing behind but a bit of blood
